6:19 I bite my fingers when I'm nervous because when you bite down enough, it comes to a point where it really hurts and that helps with the anxiety. For me at least. I also rip away those little pieces of skin that you have around your nail when I'm anxious. Hurts like hell, but helps calming down

As someone trained in CPR that is exactly what you are NOT supposed to do when someone is choking. When they become unresponsive start cpr and then when giving breath you check their airway before. If the object is visible then you can fish it out but DON'T blind finger sweep.

That’s your first move. If that doesn’t work you let the victim pass out and try to manually remove the obstruction like the illustration. Worst case scenario is what he described hearing from his dad, but that’s only good if you’re doing CPR the whole time to keep the heart pumping blood to the brain. I hope you never need to know this.

@@batterybroken oh, yeah, the methods are different for wee ones. I probably should have clarified that. And the cutting maneuver is more a thing for first responders to perform. More advanced than you’ll encounter in first aid classes, and hopefully something that would mostly happen in an ambulatory/hospital setting.

When someone is choking you start with the aeroplane landing where you put them at a 45 degree angle and then hit the palm of your hand right in the middle of the shoulder blades like your hand is a plane landing, but faster, if that doesnt work after 5 tries you move on to the heimlich where you hug from behind, clench one fist and hold it with the other hand and place just below the ribcage and pull up with force, thats british first aid anyway. Idk why youtube isnt letting me comment this, it let someone post about letting them pass out which is extremely stupid advice but the legit first aid it doesnt like?
