Johnny was an alright guy before he was paralyzed. Or as "alright" as any character in Leonard's Harlan could be. He and Raylan never really had any real "beef".

Yeah me too I liked him for being the most decent crowder since he never does anything horrible even raylan seems to like him also boyd mentions later that johnny wouldn't join the crowder commandos specifically because he dosent hold any hatred towards people of other races.

Pre wheelchair Johnny was a decent guy and character. I think it was good writing how they changed his attitude and world outlook once he became paralyzed. Taking his anger out on everyone.

The whole reason Johnny ended up in that wheelchair was because he was scheming against his uncle, the same way he would eventually scheme against Boyd. He was always a trecherous piece of shit trying to bite off more than he could chew. Nothing ever happened to Johnny that he didn't deserve.

Both Bo and Boyd made critical mistakes that ruined their otherwise fruitful careers bc of their inability to resist flaunting their position. Nobunaga Oda met his end for this very reason, irl.

@@paulmanson253 Yeah. Not my point. The director never played 'fastball' in his life. And the writer wasn't consulted when the scene was shot -- he would have said, "WTF?" And an otherwise good scene is unconvincing because the details are false. Anyone who's ever played fastball knows it's played against a BRICK wall -- there must've BEEN one on the set. Playing it against a corrugated metal wall is ridiculous -- it won't work and no one would ever do it. And the false note undermines the truth of the scene. God and art are in the details.

This is a pedestrian detail with which real people are familiar, and it's badly executed. The character is supposed to have regularly played fastball with Raylan when they were kids. I dunno what a gunfight looks like, and I don't care -- I'm willing to suspend my disbelief. But this guy has never pitched in his life, and no one would ever play fastball against a corrugated wall. These are easy enough details to get right, and they didn't bother. I'm offended by that, and the careless, slovenly approach to playing the scene makes me disbelieve everything about it. Like I said, the illusion of reality, on which theatre and film rely, is shattered.
