You Should Be Hyped For The Endless Update! - Roboquest

As amazing as this update is, and I mean that fully. I am not a massive fan of endless activities in any game. I like having an end goal in sight, so while everyone else is enjoying themselves in Endless, I will probably only visit it for a while before returning back to normal runs, as those are what I personally prefer. Please do not repeatedly request I run endless as I do enjoy normal runs more. That being said, I do REALLY enjoy endless. It just doesn't have the same staying power as normal runs do for me.
That is a personal opinion, and plenty of others will be running endless A LOT. (They are also way better than me at this game)

One thing i have to say i absolutely love, is that endless fixes two of the 3 main issues i had with roboquest. 1 was a lack of an endless mode, 2 was the fact that in roboquest, unlike any other roguelike/lite ive played, as long as u know what ur doing, u snowball off rip. In endless however, the enemies become stronger over time while u get significantly less powercells, which makes the power progression feel the way its supposed to. Number 3 is the fact that free rerolls are still random, which is frustrating and annoying, while having no valid argument behind it.

Not only that, but the endless run are always harder at the beginning. You very quickly outscale the enemies after stage 4 it feels like.

something that couldve been pretty cool is if you were able to eventually get all upgrades, the power fantasy wouldve been insane. since right now it just feels like a normal lategame build put in an endless mode

i dont think that roboquest needed an endless mode but overall it is a good start for it. one of the only small complains i have with this mode is that the bosses share the same health meaning you cant have some sort of tactical advantage of getting rid of the most annoying boss first. but hey... THANK GOD its not only debuffs and enemy buffs like deep archimedia in warframe.

As much as I love the idea, Roboquest just has too many issues for this to work out, player vs enemy damage asymmetry is completely borked. Some of the mutators are game breaking on certain enemies, shield bubble on flying mobs the main one. It's a novel idea, but all it's going to do is highlight the huge holes in certain parts of the game, and I doubt they will patch those either since some of them have been there even before the big rework. The new mode definitely makes it feel like a normal rogue light though.

It's alright but good God the difficulty is all over the place and Catercoaster can go fuck itself. I fucking hate that stupid thing. I can be doing so well in a run, that thing shows up and my run is dead. It is infuriating. That boss needs to be removed because apart from that I love everything about Roboquest.

Honestly, I agree. I think that’s part of the trade-off for getting more XP earlier on, though. If you can make it to level 25, though. You can start earning a bunch more power cells. It’s definitely tough getting to 25, though.

@@haderaxe Superbot looks OP, you don't spend any cells to upgrade your weapon and just get weapon upgrades from the ground or level up(only before lvl25) if you eat legendary or power cells. You spend all of the cells on items and rolling for perfect weapon. Also you really need armour at later stages so best build will probably look like this: Triple cannon + Super backup + Max speed + Sharp eye + Brave heart. Damage falls off hard at later stages, that's why you need armour later on. You will actually need to be able to take a hit, while you DPS the room in stealth.

Superbot also doesn’t struggle as much in early game endless like he does in early game normal runs. He’s able to get a build online faster, which lets him reach maximum potential way faster as well.

genuinely, I don't think the bosses were actually playtested. Duo bosses sounded cool, but they're a fucking nightmare to fight, and not in a good way.

@@haderaxe I knocked it off G4, then G2, then G1, difficulty isn't an issue because the issue isn't based in challenge, it's based in mechanics, I'll use Big Jim as an example, his arena has a large central pillar and a lot of verticality because his attacks are designed around being able to avoid them via cover, when you fight him in every single duo boss, you cannot use cover of any kind (except for a Dr. Turret, but getting them paired up with is not a certainty). They didn't seem to change the bosses mechanically to fit a duo fight, they just stuck two of them together because they thought it would make it harder to make it harder. The only way I've been able to consistently make it to a third level is by burning down the harder boss to intuitively dodge attacks from, so I'm basically fighting one boss with horseshit attacks coming from different angles.

Each of the bosses have been severely disarmed for endless. They are very doable. Just because you are having issue with it, does not mean everybody is. In my video you can also see I’m on around stage 8. This was my first ever run of endless. It is meant to be challenging.

I think the modifiers are lame… Let me just say, there is a reason the community kept begging gearbox to remove them from borderlands. No one likes having fun put in their way. They can just add some of the modifiers TO endless imo. The security guys can be a chance thing, goliaths should just have a chance to spawn, the ghost guys should just be able to spawn. Idk, i hate modifiers.

The Borderlands example is a pretty terrible argument. If you want to now the REASON that people hated mayhem modifiers, it’s because they felt they were forced to deal with unbalanced modifiers if they wanted a more challenge experience and better loot. The only similarities that Roboquest and BL3 share are that they are both FPS. That’s where it ends. Refusing to adapt to a scenario is not the fault of the modifiers, it is the fault of the players. The amount of people crying over IRIS being beyond unfair at launch was similar to the people crying over modifiers right now. And look at her now, she’s a cake walk on G4. People hate learning and adapting. That’s on them. Not the game. These modifiers are not BS. They are fair. I think some of the glitches could be toned down, but as far as singularities go, the things you seem to have a problem with, they are not unfairly decreasing the amount of damage you do by 300% like a Mayhem modifier in BL3. I don’t understand this argument at all.

Low-key a crazy comment considering you heavily out-scale the enemies. Modifiers don’t nullify your builds to any degree. You are still broken. If you think it’s hard. It’s supposed to be. It scales with difficulty, though, so you can always turn it off G4 if you’re struggling.

He said in this video that the enemies don't keep scaling up their health, but only their damage or density. This means you remain powerful. That have to increase the difficulty somehow. You want endless to be a set difficulty all the way through? Don't you ever want to finish your run for a reason other than needing to go to bed? Even in the normal mode, you are usually pretty squishy if you aren't evading the enemies' fire.
