Quick video recommending the upcoming EQ2 origins server, which is like the launch of WoW classic back in 2019, but for EQ2. I think it's gonna be super fun and hope to see some of you there.

I think EQ2 was for a different breed of gamers. I get why WoW is so popular and the modern day MMORPG that caters to a more casual style of play - you can login, head out and do some quests and get through the entire game without ever speaking to a soul. However, EQ2 has a certain charm. You had to group up as early as the Isle of Refuge. Key quests to get to Lavastorm, Enchanted Lands, Everfrost. The grouping requirement is a double edged sword - it can be both a nuisance and a blessing, but being all by your lonesome on the middle of Nektulos Forest is a type of fear no other MMORPG can replicate. The combat system was engaging. Every ability had a cooldown, and while you could just smash everything as they came off cooldown, there was an efficient rotation to get the most out of your class. I remember the game from 2004 not 2006, but I’m hoping it lives up to my expectations. I honestly can’t wait to get home so I can kick open the beta and boot it up as I wasn’t even aware an Origins server was even a thing. The day it turned into a WoW clone was the day I uninstalled the game and never looked back. I’ve always looked for a client just to login and see the world in this state again and nothing goes back before the nerf days. This is literally our only chance to see the game in that state again. There’s also very little footage of the game in this state as recording footage wasn’t as effortless as it has become. I will personally be recording hours of footage.

Edit: Spent 5 hours trying to increase UI size though addons/resolution changes. This game has zero accessibility features. So If you are disabled like me, it's best to wait until they hire that one employee to add a UI slider. I hope this helps out fellow disabled and vets who want to play but need to hold on to their sub money until they make ever quest 2 accessible.

Been playing the beta and loving it. I played a bit of EQ2 back in the day but ended up preferring WoW. I still think WoW was the better game, but I wish I could have played EQ2 more because it was a great game in its own right. Really looking forward to this server, hope its popular.
@Gyva02Ай бұрын
You might think combat is clunky because you are playing a scout and several of their attacks are positional as well as having to pop in an out of stealth to get a proper rotation. Once you get that down and figured out its a very fun class to play. Welcome to EQ2 👍
@imdonewithyallАй бұрын
I agree. I mained a swashy for a long time. Raided a bit here and there. Low level scouts can feel clunky if you primarily solo, but when you start getting stuns and such it gets easier and more fun lol.
@RetroSteve0Ай бұрын
@@imdonewithyallGrouping as an Assassin was some of the most fun I’ve ever had playing a video game. I won’t roll one again, as I want to experience the game from a different point of view but the combat system in this game is leaps and bounds better than the Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Sinister Strike, Eviscerate loop that WoW had for Rogues.

I have been playing EQ2 intermittently since its launch. Initially, I wasn't convinced about the Origins server. However, your story about upgrading your gear on the starter Isle and seeing tangible results changed my mind. As a dedicated crafter, I've found the biggest drawback in modern MMOs is how players can often obtain better gear through questing or simply logging in. This makes crafting gear for myself or my friends feel more like a disadvantage than a benefit. Now to decide on my class for when it finally opens.
@FactionszАй бұрын
Glad to have helped! In the beta crafted gear is extremely good, and if you just gather as you go along you can get the mats to make yourself stuff. It's awesome. Levelling is also mostly done in groups and it's not a joke to kill stuff so even levelling people buy crafted gear off the broker.

@@Factionsz Mate, any idea how Rangers are in Origins. My only attempt at ever playing them was in OG EQ...I died a lot.

They seem pretty good, tho keep in mind that its focused around grouping so every class will have trouble solo

@Razman.9927 күн бұрын
Is it true that Krono will not be enabled on this server? (at least to start?) If not, thats a huge reason to play, for me at least. Krono is what EQ1 and 2 use for all the pay to win.

yes, no krono

I had to go back and watch it a few times to make sure I heard it right. Yep, you definitely said this game has worse combat than world of warcraft. Now I've heard it all...
@Factionsz27 күн бұрын
Indeed, much, much worse. EQ2 combat is so low on the mechanical skill required that playing with auto facing and ability queueing turned on is normal. Anyone who denies this is simply likely to be a keyboard turning clicker. It's just blatantly obvious.
@user-sm9mb6ms5j27 күн бұрын
@@Factionsz I don't click or keyboard turn. I also played wow classic and had full orange parses for BFD in season of discovery on a rogue. It's not even a contest which game has more fluid combat and requires more skill. You are a moron for thinking your weird opinion is fact. Whether anybody thinks this game or that game has better combat, clearly it can't be said that it's objectively true. It's sad that I have to explain that.
@user-sm9mb6ms5j27 күн бұрын
@@Factionszhowever, I can see why your videos get less than a thousand views with you spouting stupid opinions like that and pretending they are objectively true.
@Factionsz27 күн бұрын
It is pretty clearly true given that EQ2's pvp was dead on arrival and WoW's is legendary. BFD parses as a measure of mechanical skill has to be some sort of joke. EQ2's combat is a clunky mess, WoW's is so fluid and has such mechanical depth that a duel even between 2 average pvp players makes EQ2 look like a smartphone game. There's no comparison, getting offended at this is prime fanboy/antifanboy territory, a brain poisoned to the point that you simply cannot give another game props on what it does well even when it's blatantly obvious. It's akin to getting angry at the notion that counter strike is more tactically deep than call of duty.

THis server is taking the game back to how it was in 2006, so yes it's not the 2004 version, but it's as close to original as we're going to get.

@@metashadow3924 I quit Update 24, but the best version of the game was the very first one when it was hard and before they started making the game soloable.

@@SilverinWolvesScarletForestSno I agree. But the game is not soloable on the Origins server. So if you're worried this is a rehash of live servers, that is not something you should be worried about.

I can tell by how you degrade eq2 in comparison to WoW that you really haven't played much of eq2. This game is amazing, and so is the combat. There's far more complexity to each classes abilities in this game. Way more abilities and way more ways to play. The skill ceiling is huuuuge!
@FactionszАй бұрын
I mean it's pretty objective that wow has the best combat of all the tab target mmorpgs. Having lots of abilities means little compared to smooth gameplay. There's a reason eq2 PvP flopped so hard while wow's is legendary. Cast times on everything even melee abilities, clunky gameplay and movement so shoddy that playing with auto facing on is actually optimal. What wow today lacks is the supporting systems that origins has. But I absolutely do not trust the opinion of anyone who genuinely believes that eq2 combat is anything but clunky as hell.
@andrewaugustine1494Ай бұрын
@@Factionsz so you haven't played eq2 much, then?
@FactionszАй бұрын
@@andrewaugustine1494 yeah dude if I just play the core gameplay will magically not be blatantly obviously clunky, something anyone can tell in 10 seconds of moving around and hitting some abiliites in any mmorpg
@user-sm9mb6ms5j27 күн бұрын
Thinking that world of Warcraft has objectively the best combat of any MMO is one of the most brain-dead things I've heard on KZbin in a hot minute. Imagine thinking an MMO where your character moves around clunky as shit and there is no combat Auto face Avatar option while most classes spam one button 75% of the time is better than EverQuest II combat. You thinking it's clunky because abilities have different reuse timers makes it very obvious that you are bad at the game. I definitely would recommend people like you sticking with world of Warcraft.
