Ever since I started watching ssbm tutorials I’ve gotten much better at melee even when using a lower mid tier character, that being Mario. And despite what everyone and everything say, I’m not switching to doc. Thanks a lot ssbm tutorials
@erysecret3 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people don't realize that doc and mario have *completely* different play styles. Because of their kill setups and knockback values Mario is way more combo oriented compared to Doc's more toned back, zoning game (with pills.) Not to mention, for this reason mario is way more fun to play against :) Edit: I would say Captain Falcon is closer to mario than Doc is, though that might be a stretch

@@TurbinationE people knew that you could crouch to cancel a dash for as far back as I can remember (began in 2005). But using it was pretty strictly used to downsmash out of a dash animation or for sheik ducking a hitbox/cc grabbing. The closest thing I can remember to this would be the Fast Like Teee Grab and that was closer to 07 or 08 if memory serves. But once again, that was using it as part of a larger technique. I have no doubt people have used it as a general movement option but for some people who only really follow the tournaments and occasionally hop on netplay to relive the glory days theres a lot of small things that have become available that you would only ever know about if you talked to the right person at the time. Not sure the point of this reply tbh, just felt like blabbin while I wait for my laundry to finish

I feel like I didn't entirely get it how does this extend dash dance range with sheik?
@thejoester453 жыл бұрын
So you can cancel dash into another dash but you cant cancel run into a dash in the opposite direction, but you can crouch out of run and then dash back out of the crouch. It's useful for short dash range characters like Shiek and Samus since they transition into run very quickly after a dash and you want to be able to play at a larger variety of spacings.

How exactly does it extend your dash dance?
@SSBMTutorials3 жыл бұрын
you can run further than your normal dashdance range, but then still turn around very quickly to grab or attack. dashing out of crouch is just a few frames slower than actual dashdancing but its still very fast and usually throws people off-guard since they don't expect you to be able to turn around at all when you've gone past your dashdance range

For whatever reason, I find it easier to dash forward out of crouch than dashing backwards out of crouch. Doesn't matter which way I'm facing. Any dash out of crouch that is away from where I'm currently facing, I always seem to mess up. Man, I need to gitgud.
@TurbinationE3 жыл бұрын
Because it is easier. You can dash forward during the uncrouching animation, but you cannot dash back. Try crouching, then quickly letting go of the stick and tapping forward. Now, try the same thing but tapping backwards.
@OmniNero3 жыл бұрын
@@TurbinationE Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Does rolling the stick from down to left/right skip over uncrouch animation? Do you know how that works?
@Cardboxx3 жыл бұрын
@@OmniNero once your stick goes above a certain Y value you'll start standing up (preventing DashBack OutOfCrouch) so with the straight to the side method you have to do frame 1 fully down frame 2 fully to the side if you'e to slow it'll go frame 1 fully down frame 2 not quite to the side yet, but stick high enough to trigger uncrouch animation frame 3 to the side but stuck in the "no dashback" state since you can't never know when the game will poll input for the next frame, it's impossible to be consistent(if you start moving the stick 2 ms before"next frame", you'd have 2 ms to go from down to the side) by going low with your stick, you minimize the time spent in the "tilt zone" so you could be frame 1 crouch frame 2 not fully to the sides, but stick low enough to not trigger "uncrouch" frame 3 stick fully to the side(dashback)
@Cardboxx3 жыл бұрын
web.archive.org/web/20171016055544im_/i.imgur.com/oAROhEq.png (credits to kadano for the stick map) idk if youtube will shadowban this comment because of the link bu basically, you need to go from crouch zone to smash turn zone, without the game polling you when your stick is in tilt turn. going low makes the danger zone smaller
