Randle is a good stage hazard because he’s entirely predictable, and while he can give some characters an edge (like spacies) it’s still possible to cover randle in most situations, in fact usually randle is little more then one extra thing to worry on the mental stack when edge guarding and when it isn’t, it still creates a fun mind game; should I let go of ledge to cover randle? Maybe if I cover randle there’s a chance I could get reversaled so it’s not worth it, maybe I take the gamble because I know my opponent is desperate. Shy guys on the other hand can fuck off, like seriously, they are impossible to track, screw up throws and combos, they make samus and Luigi players hate themselves, (wait now that I think about it that actually doesn’t sound awful🤔) and they made duck retire! I mean I have no idea who duck is but they still did! As for The wind on dreamland, it’s not bad nor is it good, no one counter picks that stage because of it, and it barely plays a role in game, so you might as well leave it as a cool reference for casuals. Overall I think stage hazards are good, coming from ult where every stage is either ps2 clone number 65 or battlefield-now with new and improved slightly altered blast zones!-I personally love them. Stage hazards and insane blast zones make the melee meta game feel so much more alive, even if they have the not so desirable side effect of making the first game of any set way more important than it should be. Still, you can’t have the historic moment where mango beats zain twice in a row on FD without insanely powerful counter picks. Sometimes I hate it but most of the time it’s a good idea; except stadium transformations, there’s a reason why the no stalling rule has a clause in it specifically addressing stadium transformations, the only reason majors don’t have frozen stadium is because big daddy Nintendo would get mad at them for modding their no longer sold 23 year old game for a tournament that they refuse to interact with outside of the occasional cease and assist. Mods like UCF are fine because it’s hard to tell that they are actually installed, but anyone who has played the game before would notice that transformations aren’t happening

as a new player who went 4-2 at their first major and is just struggling on going further since like a month ago when that happened, this video actually spoke to me immensely realized why I turn to competition is just dissatisfaction with myself and wanting something to give me fulfillment and a sense of improvement ironically it ends up doing the opposite but im hoping I can get to a point where it’s improved and I can enjoy the journey for my more important passions as well as melee
