actually being a musician is a total different thing than actually doing the job of a sound/mastering engineer or anything like that :P a musicians job actually is to play an instrument, some of them probably actually know how some effects working, for example someone playing an electric guitar for sure is familiar with compression, chorus, reverbs, distortions and most of the effects and probably at some point will use /experiment with all in a period of time.... how mixing/mastering works other than just playing one instrument... is totally a different story...

This taught me a lot about mid/side EQ that I wasn't aware of using just glorified plugins. That's why stock plug-ins work so well...what you see is what you get.

i really love your videos. we need more mixing tutorials. when do you equalize your single tracks? bc in the first mixing lesson we've learned to kick out all those little eq's n shit, which doesn't affect the sound in general. I'm really confused about the right order of this whole process. when am i supposed to mid and side eq?

I'm confused. I want my mix to play well in mono. Does that not mean I should cut all out of phase sounds. In this regard it seems bad to boost the side of anything, so why boost the high frequency content at the side? -my guess- for a separate stereo mix? separate mono mix? really asking here

I went to a song I made a few months ago and tried using the technique where you go to the sides of your bass first and cut out some of those yucky frequencies, and my bass in the song had nothing for the sides. It was analyzing nothing. Whats the reason for this?
