I started at Video #1 late last night and have gotten myself here so far.. (3:33). That's got some nice 8 Bit sound to it. I'm just a Dingus Drummer, but I wanted to at least 'send' a Hello and this seemed like a good time to do it. I have to saythat although I still don't have any hardware and havn't yet decided on a DAW yet, I have found your humorous hyperbole to be incredibly helpful with understanding the very basics of what DAW can do and how powerful they can be for music creation. I really look forward to learning more. I have to leave town soon to go to work for a few days, because I suck at life, but I promise to pick up where I left off when I get there this afternoon. Thanks for everything you have taught me so far. ✌

How about finishing the beats you do in these sessions, creating 1 min+ versions? The implementation of such weird starts in a full track is always fun to watch and listen. Also, think about uploading these as samples - messing around is always fun ♪ (until small versions of you start calling you daddy)

Hey Underbelly, What would you say is the best audio interface to use? I have an AT2050 condenser mic and my blue icicle amp isn't cutting it for phantom power. I also will be connecting a guitar at times, but this primarily for just my microphone. I saw a lot of praise for the Line 6 POD UX2, especially for it's price and the program that comes with it. What are your thoughts?
@yousuckatproducing7 жыл бұрын
unfortunately im not the one to ask about audio interfaces. I'm rockin' the focusrite 2i2 no problemo

Nightline Gaming Full time audio engineer here. Way too much emphasis is placed on what interface should I use. Just about anything these days serves just fine, until you get to a level that actually requires something specific. What does matter more is the preamp and mic combo. If you're going to spend more money right now, buy a good preamp, and go line out from the preamp into your current interface. Someday not far into the future, the interface will no longer work because Windows 14 or OSX 12 won't support it, and USB will be deprecated by some new serial connector. But that good preamp will work nearly forever. Something like a Golden Age pre-73 Jr, for example. The interface will just be a converter to turn that clean signal into digital, then, instead of expecting a $250 interface to do the job of both a converter and a preamp. ;)
@MichaelM-zm7gr6 жыл бұрын
Good stuff. But what about latency? I'd believe any interface works for my beginner self, but things are way too delayed when my synth audio is coming thru a cheap interface...
