Castillo wants Crockett to speak to a psychologist, DiTello, but he refuses, opting instead to go to the hospital and check on the boy, Jeffrey McAllister, who is alive but not yet stabilized. Crockett insists that everything possible be done for him, and for the doctors to let him know about money if needed. Outside ICU they see Monroe, who blames his outburst on Annette "turning tricks" and that he's been seeing a social worker. Crockett warns him about touching Annette again.
From Season 4 Episode5 "Child’s Play": Crockett agonises after a weapons-smuggling probe ends in a boy's death, taking the chance to try and reconnect with his estranged son.

People always want the best for their loved ones. Which is understandable. But medical care costs money. But people expect medical care to be free. A patient with no money and no insurance, they cannot be turned away from an ER. But demanding the very best care with no means of any kind of payment: A detective threatening a surgeon unless he treats a destitute patient with the most advanced care. Makes for good drama. But next time you wonder why health insurance costs continue to get more and more expensive, it is because we all are paying the bills of people who cannot or will not pay for their care. And before you give a speech on socialized medicine, talk to a Canadian or a UK citizen about the reality of socialized medicine in an urban setting.

I like how nuanced ‘Miami Vice’ approaches social dilemmas, as the way Crockett explains Jeffrey's background and how the Health System treats people, and also the manner Tubbs calls Monroe (Ving Rhames) “brother.” The series could point issues in society and even with the main characters without going through a lecturing route like I see in some products in the current landscape. ‘MV’ had more substance than given credit for and kept entertaining people. 'MV' videos make my days easier to get by, even the sad ones, thanks for bringing us back to these memories.

The exchange in Castillo's office is one of the best acted scenes in the series. I wish I could find a good clip of it. There used to be one, but now there is an edited one with stupid retro-applied music. The most powerful part of that scene between Olmos and Johnson is the straight dialogue, no music. "You didn't call." "Funny, my ex-wife said the same thing. You two been talking?"
