I do maintenance for apartment complexes and if my coworkers and I quit and no one replaced us, there would be dozens of buildings with thousands of residence that would eventually have overflowing bathtubs and kitchen sinks due to clogged pipes and basement floods from backed up sewers. My point is that we will always need people to keep our infrastructure up and running. Someone needs to stock the grocery shelves, deliver your Amazon packages, pick up your trash, etc. And most of those people are working longer than 9-5.

She makes a lot of great points about why working is miserable. What I don't see are suggestions on how someone working paycheck to paycheck, who has no savings or stability to start investing or building passive income, is meant to simply "deprogram" themselves from working and be fine. I would say start by making cleaning/beauty products at home to save money & reduces expenses. I researched in my 20s how to make homemade toothpaste and shampoo and detergent for example and it took a few years to slowly build up on using cheaper homemade versions and I stopped buying chemically harsh items from stores. I understand she's a minimalist but people used to MAKE their own Christmas decorations decades ago (for example) so making holiday decorations instead of buying or get items on clearance after the holiday, there's cheap ways to start growing your own plants, make your own clothes. I get my tv app subscriptions on black friday every year! I've paid $2.99/mo for disney + hulu for the past 2 years. This year I got peacock for $20/YEAR & Paramount for $30/ YEAR so I don't have to pay those monthly. So basically if you want something, learn how to make it and some items its best to buy expensive quality that last decades compared to cheap, breakable stuff now. But it still takes awhile to build up on all of that. Moving in with friends/family that divide the bills....you'd have to go through each topic of spending and think how can you save money in that area. Like food, stop ordering out and make from scratch, buy mostly what's on sale. I was shocked to find out local farms are selling beef cheaper than the most expensive grocery store in my town! She did mention artist stuff to build passive income and using AI to write a book. There's other videos where people talk about different passive income ideas. Is there one subject you are more knowledgeable about and can share that with an audience, something your good at? Another way people get out of poverty is having 2-3 jobs and saving all the money from 1 of those jobs, they work like this for a few years to build up their savings and then go back down to one job but maybe they can invest in buying a cheap house or car or starting a business, to help they're particular situation.
@relicwitch1313
@relicwitch1313 18 күн бұрын
I'll give you some perspectives - Imagine you had less stuff. Minimal stuff. You could live in a room instead of a house. You wouldn't need as much rent money or money for utilities. You could focus on a different work endeavour. You could use ai to write a book / create a tarot deck / generate video scripts or product descriptions for an online store. Imagine you did batch cooking, meal planning and budget shopping. You could lose weight, save money, never waste food. You would get healthier, you would feel more positive and have more money, OR you wouldn't need to work as many hours. Imagine you live in a van for a year while working your job. You could save all your wages. Then you could do something with the savings, like investing, or setting up a small business, or buying a small boat to live on. Then, you combine all the above ways of thinking and living, and you create your ideal life. Imagine you did voluntary work overseas to help people/communities. It comes with food and board and you get to travel the world. Who might you meet? Where might you end up? She is saying that stuff, buying stuff, thinking you need stuff is where your money is going. She is saying that the 'normal' way of life is a smokescreen and you can think differently if you choose to. She is saying possessions are a money pit. She is saying there are other ways to live but you need to invent them for yourself!

Happened to me. And you're right about burnout being an awakening. Burnout is not (just) exhaustion -- it's a form of self-defense and self-preservation. Good point. It is not so much we have been brainwashed to think we need work, we actually need work if we want to live a decent and comfortable life. A few are able to do things they love, or are very smart and lucky and can be self employed. Most are working in jobs they hate and it is not entirely their fault, it is the fault of the system itself which is capitalism. We need to be pushing for alternatives such as RBE.

I can totally get behind eliminating the need for work, though I am skeptical that this hyper individualistic mindset is what is going to free us from work and exploitation. Humans are social creatures who are meant to depend on each other for survival. We have to build a society based on community and mutual cooperation, not just focus on making our own lives better. None of us are free until we're all free One thing I recently started doing with friends is having weekly food prep nights - we all go in on bulk ingredients and make huge batches of food to last us throughout the week. This has saved me a lot of time and money and it's a fun way to bond with others 💖 I'm also skeptical of AI being the answer, given that AI is highly energy intensive
@makelifemedicine

@@Hollybalolly I agree with aspects of what you're saying. Firstly, I don't think what I'm describing is hyper individualistic at the expense of community and connection. Also, if you're not familiar with human design You might find it super interesting to look into the global cycle, which will be switching from the cross of planning to the cross of the sleeping Phoenix in 2027. It speaks to what you are bringing up here. The food prep nights sound amazing with your friends! I think that's super cool and definitely think that people would benefit from more connection like this in their lives. Your concerns about AI is also very valid. I'm pretty confident that a solution will arise. As far as the GPU power required... I think we're just not there yet.

Now, I’m debt-free, living in a small apartment with my dog, and I’ve decided not to marry or have kids. I feel at peace for the first time at 49. Even with all the money in the world, I know I can’t get back the time I’ve lost. I have a very successful podcast that gives me purpose in life and interviewed hundreds of guests. I believe AI will reshape the job market-while it may replace many jobs, it also brings new opportunities for those who know how to leverage it. All I can do is focus on living fully in each moment. That is, the system is rigged to make profit for people that already have resources, and connections. Not us poor working class. The key is learning to see that our culture, religion, money is a story we tell ourselves, only thought patterns, shit we make up. We have agency to write our own story. This story has to fit reality, food shelter clothing, practical activities that help us grow, and become ones true self. This takes a lot of guts to go against the conventional, dis functional BS.

I’m an ER doctor, and I agree with so much of what you said. I work my ass off. I only wish AI could make my life easier, but it just can’t. AI can’t reinflate someone’s lung and put in a chest tube. It can’t insert an IV or central line, or do a spinal tap, or intubate a patient in respiratory distress. I can go and on. Unfortunately, it’s Christmas night, and I’m going in for another night shift. I hate it. AI is not gonna rescue me.

Absolutely correct. The sooner a person can realize what you are saying the sooner freedom will be obvious. I retired at 46 and only worked for 90 days since in the last decade while many of my friends continue working and yet do not need to as they have more income and less responsibility. Being debt free is like having the world lifted off your shoulders. I came a from a blue collar single worker family and had a lot of debt while living paycheck to paycheck. I read and followed the book Your Money or Your Life. That changed everything.

When I'm not doing it, I lose myself. I've been looking after a beloved parent who has sadly passed, but it was the right time, and now I feel my attention turning back to pursuing the things that energise me. Plus, watching a loved one pass away as a 49-year-old brings into focus its going to end. I've seen the whole decline over a period of months rather than just a last-minute goodbye. I can see it happening to me more clearly. I've always pursued my own creative journey but felt the immense weight of the life, identity, status, and wealth I could have made or been. That sense of feeling left behind and having nothing to show for 30 years of passion and never giving up. As time passes and my past identity becomes more fragmented and the people of my past move more away from their past selves, I can start to embrace the now baggage free.

This message is powerful, I’m 26 right now and have not had a job for 5 years, I used to work 6 days a week 13 hour days for about a year and a half for the oil lines as a land surveyor and never complained and would always work hard every day, but then when we all got laid off after the job was over I knew I could never go back no matter how good the money was, I felt like a prisoner and was miserable every single day dreading the thought of doing it all over again the next day.

I would kayak during the day, and hit the stage at 9 o’clock that night, and now I’m working for a friends Allstate agency specific period of time till I get another business of mine going in the spring. working on Spotify singles for the first time, but not pushing hard enough to get those recordings done. So, this video came up on my feed. I made it to 1:05 and I had to stop. This person seems to be talking about moving away from the working/bills/cycle. I don't understand how she is saying all of this as she is sitting in an immaculately clean, new white kitchen with matching appliances. The message seems insincere. Many people construct their lives to have cars that are in pristine condition, a home with lovely and tasteful decor, clothes, makeup, jewelry, teeth, skin, hair, anti-aging supplements, procedures, nails, not to mention electronics. All of these things cost money. All of these things must be maintained. If you choose to maintain such a lifestyle, I am certain that you will always be working to pay for these things. I am not certain why this person who has all the appearances of such a lavish lifestyle has chose to instruct others about the follies that she, herself seems to have succumbed to.

I can understand many of the sentiments but the simple fact is that there is an intrinsic value to work. Also, you mention your truck...your camper... beautiful mountains to be seen. It takes a lot of people doing a lot of hard work to get a truck or a camper off the production line, and many people have to have jobs and be working for you to be able to travel to those beautiful places. That doesn't mean that a few people here and there can't say screw it and live off of everyone else's work, but as a society work is necessary. And yes, we WERE put on this Earth to work. How do you think we fed ourselves before modern times? And last but not least, the very people worshipping AI and pushing for it to eliminate jobs are the same exact people who would not allow you to own something like a camper if they had their way. The end goal is to provide you with just enough welfare for you to sit in an apartment the size of a closet and exist.

People have always been workers. It’s a rare thing people owned their own places and farmed their own foods. Society has always been structured like it is now in some form or fashion. Work is necessary for life, whether for another or for yourself. All it takes to get ahead is not being afraid to do something different. The system doesn’t care, but the system will punish you if you don’t understand it, and that is why most people never get ahead.

Something I've observed in my 45 years on this earth. People with ordinary jobs and very little to show for it are some of the happiest and contented people I've met in my life. People with a lot of money and a lot of free time seem deeply troubled and lost. People generally dont find long-term happiness in endeavours of pleasure and self-satisfaction, but in responsibility and the service of others.

We live as we've been trained, we need to establish a new foundation and eradicate our old stagnant norms and prejudices. We need to realize the "norms" and extremely imbalanced "obligations" we are under are dead and merely platitudes that don't reflect most people's experience in society. A reset, an unclogging, a new chain of thought backed by collective experiences as the foundation and tool to build - we will manifest it. 🌄🙏

Live with less. Have more time to love. Its against the norm but id rather fly my own path. My dad named me after Jonathan Livingston Seagull hence my first and middle name. Crazy how my Dad's thought of me before birth would become my personality and my destiny. I too use Chat GPT. Crazy it gives better answers than people but people are flawed and have agendas. Its a better therapist than the one I was taking my son to. The wife sometimes has a hard time with the living situation because she likes to take baths and have that luxury but usually maybe every month we go travel somewhere and get a hotel room while exploring somewhere new around nature.
