@@donaldboughton8686 unfortunately your local constabulary will most likely support the BBC's harrasment. Mine, Warwickshire Police, certainly do and I have full dialogue including "You HAVE to make them aware you don't need a licence", "not complying with the BBC would mean you could be guilty and recieve a fine" and "the agency is allowed to use threats to reinforce a demand". Unbelievable, no wonder Saville got away with his crimes.

This is what needs to happen more and more; people simply closing the door in their faces without ANY engagement because they are hungry opportunists! If enough people do it, it will make these goons hang it all up and get another more worthwhile job and CAPITA will have trouble recruiting new people because Word has gotten around about how frustratingly difficult it is to be a ‘TVL Enforcement Officer’.

I’ve just received said letter. I now have a collection of letters since moving in in June. Previous letter said they were visiting on a given date last month and the letter before was in a red envelope, the two before were in window envelopes. My nosy postie must be having a field-day. I would love to converse with an "investigator" on the doorstep and waste loads of their time, telling them all the BBC programmes I habitually watch (would have to tell a lie here because Match Of The Day is just about my limit), and give my opinions about their relative merits, then let them know "oh, I don't live here, I'm just refitting the bathroom, must get back to work" before closing the door in the face of this powerless yet inquisitive member of the public.

They are opening a "full investigation of your address" - starting with finding out who actually lives there and where the property is! My other's flat was unoccupied for several years after her passing, with no TV on site. Despite my relaying this info to TV licensing, they continued to send a monthly threatening letter - even, I presume, in the knowledge that their goon would not get past the guarded security entrance! I always thought "good luck with that one"

Not had one in a while personally. I've decided to follow the advice of ignore all, rather than my earlier RTS system. And it seems to be working. I mean, I'm an ex-postie myself. So should have known better than to think that RTS would do anything. Our depot was always full of refused returned mail. We just used to dump them all in a skip once a year. And send it all for incineration.

Always read , they send any summons in the same envelope , if you don’t reply to a summons the case will still be heard in your absence and with no defence you could be fined ,I know chances are low will happen but I personally know 2 cases were it did , best be safe ,

phew *wipes sweat off forehead* I got my letter today, my status is "Visit temporarily on hold" and they are giving me 10 days to get correctly licensed. That's nice of them. The 30th seems to be circled in red and later down it says they are giving me until 30th December 2022 before they send around the goons! The fools can't count, it is 22/11/22 today, and the 30th December is a lot more than that away! Maybe I should call them and make an appointment, charge them £50 for every appointment they miss!

When you open the door they immediately ask if you are the resident at this address. You don't know who they are yet, so you reply "WHO ARE YOU"? They then have to tell you that they are a goon. Now you know who they are. You say "NO THANK YOU" and close the door.

From now on most homes in the UK now are saying, The TV LICENCE FEE is not needed as we no longer watch their rubbish. So the TV LICENCE is NOT ALLOWED in our homes. Nobody said anything about the license fee being commercially based or reasonable. It's an out of date concept that was valid 40 years ago but not in today's television programming world. It's a tax used to fund the BBC. It's not longer anything to do with whether or not you consume the programming output of the BBC. I don't see any point in complaining about it. You have to pay it. You can complain to your MP but that doesn't have any effect: it's a government level decision. And the government has decided they are not yet going to remove this tax. And there is nothing we can do about it. So stop moaning and comply. Why? Because if you don't comply then you get in to trouble.

@@deang5622 Why should I comply just because you say so? Anyone who does not watch the Beeeeb programming and pays the licence is allowing thieves to rob them every time they cough up. These thieves will have to be tackled. Where I chose to draw the line in the sand is up to me. I chose to draw the line upon leaving home at 18. I am now 65 and have never paid a TV licence and have no intention of doing so Fact: they will never be able to prove that I watch any live streaming programs from any channel. They can even sit in my living room for the next 50 years and they still won't be able to prove it. If they do not stop sending their letters every month then a court case for harassment is in the offing. All I want is for the first goon to arrive on my doorstep and I am taking them to court.

If you end up being fined, the total financial impact to you is greater because you will be made to pay the license fee which you should have paid plus the fine. There is no logic to your behaviour. You're objecting to paying the license fee, and the end result is you end up paying more. How does that make sense? How does that make sense to you? Please explain the rationale behind your thinking? Surely if you are in a difficult financial position, the worst outcome for you is to pay more than you need. So if you are in this position, then the logical and reasonable behaviour is to take action to prevent yourself being fined. Being fined is a choice, it is a choice you make. You can chose not to be fined by complying with the law.

@@deang5622 My behaviour is not unreasonable in the least. They are demanding via threatening letters that I pay for a licence that I do not need. They take me to court and try to prosecute me; the courts will chuck the case out and award damages to me. End of. If you constantly pester someone they can take you to court and have a court order against you. This is exactly what I intend to do to the BBC for harassing me with their threatening letters every month. All I am waiting for is one of their goons to turn up on my doorstep. Nobody and I mean nobody on earth can prove that I need a TV licence. As I said earlier they can come and sit in my living room for the next 50 years and they still will not be able to prove that I need a TV licence. So think outside the box. Who does not need a TV licence and why? When you have the answer to that then you will see why I am so p&%$ed off at all the threatening letters and bullying tactics. That is why I actually want them to take me to court. The egg will be on their faces. Then I will charge them £600 for every letter they send to my address. That could end up being a nice little earner every month Lol. There is no reason for me to constantly jump though their hoops every two years either. It's an imposition.

The police only attend to keep the peace. The warrant is signed by a justice of the peace which grants the police permission to attend to keep the peace. It is not an arrest warrant and does not allow anybody to enter your address. Somebody can only enter your premises if you invite them in. They will use tactics like "shall we go inside and talk about this" etc. Just tell the police to not get involved because they are only there to keep the peace. Repeatedly tell the investigating officer that he is not allowed to enter your property.

@@irrepressibleme6846 the warrant does give right of entry , they can under the terms of the warrant force entry but the BBC have never used that power , You correct about the purpose of police attending , it’s a requirement of the warrant but you cannot hinder the investigation which includes withholding access , you however don’t have to assist the investigation but it’s incorrect that you can refuse entry, following is relevant section from the act involved , The Communications Act 2003 imposes a duty on the BBC to issue TV Licences and collect the licence fee. The BBC must ensure that it fulfils its responsibility to the vast majority of households who pay their licence fee, by enforcing the law in respect of those who intentionally evade paying it. TV Licensing can only enter your home without your permission if authorised to do so under a search warrant granted by a magistrate (or sheriff in Scotland).

I found one of they goons rolling around, hold his groin, on my front lawn. No idea when he got up and left as my wife was taking me to A&E with a suspected broken toe on my right foot.😇

I only cancelled my licence at the end of October 2022 and I have already had a letter advising me that 1 in 8 people declare no licence needed incorrectly. I have no intention of watching live or recorded TV for the forseeable future and have removed BBC iPlayer from my smart TV, so, have correctly advised them I do not need a licence.

Iv had loads of them, I'm not scared and they haven't been round yet, I'm waiting

Had this letter a few weeks ago,went straight outside and picked fog poo up with it job done..

I have had a lot of those 10 days ones in the past - they went straight in my waste paper shredder. they have given up on me and don't even bother sending letters anymore
