We went through this with Theresa May - she saw the Windrush generation as the root start of mass immigration - but back then although it was a shock to have Jamaicans and West Indians moving into the 'cheaper' areas - they did mix in and were neighbourly and made friends. Actually, they don’t “lose” any document - they just say they don’t have them. There are no powers of search and detention (such as you see on Australian tv shows), you have to accept what the person states (who are aided and abetted by immigration NGOs telling them what to say). Look, I believe that the ability to seek and grant asylum is a good thing BUT it must be balanced with rejecting AND deporting those who are not genuine. At the moment, countries can reject but not deport in any effective way. Not only do you need documentation but you also need the country concerned to accept that the rejected asylum seeker is actually a citizen of that country and that they are willing to take them back. This is why, despite the very best efforts of people working in this process, when an asylum seeker is in, they’re in and pretty much going nowhere. All countries have to stop listening to NGOs as if they are oracles on immigration. What they are, in effect, are little businesses protecting the positions of their own CEOs and employees . They offer no practical help to national governments other than to shout criticisms from the sidelines . I have had dealings with such organisations - they are pathetic. They consider themselves the only acceptable moral guardians of any discussion on immigration. They challenge national governments on everything and pick up none of the pieces.

If these people refused assistance from the French navy when they were in danger it is not our business to go into french waters to assist them. They have freedom of choice to be saved or not and seing as they are illegal to boot its their responsibility. Correct me if im wrong but if somebody calls an ambulance for a person with an injury or life threatening condition and they are conscious and of sound mind they can refuse assistance from the ambulance crew and the medical crew cannot force them to accept treatment or get into to the ambulance agaist their will. So why are we going into french waters saving people who have stated they do not want to be assisted ,its called taking responsibility for your actions and we need to toughen up and not be played by these criminals who ta,e us for gullible fools. It's a bit of a misconception that Royal Navy Commanders have authority on the seas. They are now heavily tied to law and often seek legal advice before taking action. That maybe isn't a bad thing. I still don't understand why we don't put some of our unused Naval fleet (yes we actually do have them) to patrol the channel and intercept boats before they cross half way, and return them to the closest port which will be in France. We should be taking a look at ships like the Echo class, very recently retired, refitting them and deploying them as anti-trafficking patrol ships.

Yes any immagrant who comes here must have private health insurance its economic suicide to be able to have free health care from a system they have never paid into? Also freedom of movement must be stopped as too many people are comeing to the uk with no financial income or job offer? Its absolutely ruining this country!

As a hgv driver driving all over Europe myself along with other drivers are being targeted by these immigrants to enter our vehicles that are bound for the uk. The French customs who have access to the same facilities as the border force but are not doing their jobs properly when searching vehicles and then pass the buck onto drivers who ask border force for a security check etc and they always find immigrants on hgv trailers and are now being fined 10k per immigrant. The reason in my opinion is that the French and Uk governments are making big money out of this that's why it's not being stopped

We can't send them back because they don't have paperwork ID. yet-we let them in without paperwork ID. We don't know if they are criminals, or legit. We don't know where they come from and whatever. What a shambles.

We have illegal economic migrants demanding to be allowed to come to england , ferried into port by border force boats, housed in 5 star hotels, and then complaining when they are told they will have to move into less eexpensive accommodation. And defended by lawyers at our expense. While our own citizens cant get legal aid.

I think maybe we should start by looking at how much money we've given to Ukraine instead of blaming everything on immigrants. Most of them come here to actually work so lets not paint all of them with the same brush. We've given Ukraine billions of Pounds and bristish weapons which were all paid by taxpayer's.
