I jumped when I heard this, Fragile has been one of my favorites for over a year now. It’s such a beautiful piece and if I’m not wrong I believe it was written essentially as a love letter to his wife. It was one of the first songs I put on my Spotify playlist (when the one with the red cover was available) and to hear it again while scrolling through shorts was enchanting- even if it was just a few measures. I know this is a very subtle thing, but as someone who loves Tatsuro Yamashita and is half-Japanese, I just want to teach you and others how to say his name properly. For his first name, the emphasis is on the first syllable, not the second. It’s not tat-SOO-ro, it’s TA-tsu-ro. His last name is not Yama-SHI-ta, but instead the i is sort of muted and the emphasis is on the MA. ya-MA-shta. So just to reiterate, instead of Tat-SOO-ro Yama-SHI-ta, it should be pronounced as TA-tsu-ro Ya-MA-shta.
