I would wrap some spaghnum moss around the stem, in a spot just above where I would want to cut it. This way you can grow some roots in advance, before you cut. It will allow you to keep the top half looking immaculate, even after a cut, because it will already have roots to support it

I've already rooted many of the aerial roots for that purpose. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to prop it or leave it alone. I'm scared to cut it! LOL

I just bought one for $19.99 at Whole Foods. Literally the shock of the century! 😂 I guess it isn’t THAT shocking now, it was just completely unexpected. So many stores here in SoCal sell the same old stuff all the time. This time, the Whole Foods not only had a 'Paraíso Verde', but they setup this little rare plant shelf (which they never do, usually all their plants are together.. all $20 plants. _Philodendron_ 'Ring of Fire' variegata, _Begonia maculata_ (maybe overpriced?), Xanthosoma 'Mickey Mouse taro', Alocasia zebrina and 'Jacklyn'. Something else too that I’m forgetting. And now I hear Gloriosum is available at Lowe’s & Home Depot.

WOW! Talk about hitting the jackpot. I seldom visit Whole Foods but it may have to be added to my plant hunting list of places. I got one online. Good price. Didn't do well though. Dropped all the beautiful leaves. I now have a plant with one small green leaf and a possible that hasn't started developing. No more bottling, even though it is under a grow light by a humidifier. Not really worth it, IMO. Still beautiful, but yeah.

Don't give up on it. Mine went through a rough acclimation period. After that, it started putting out leaves with nice patterns. I don't do anything special to it. Have you fertilized at all?

I bought four of the same Paraiso Verdes at Kroger a few months ago for $1.40 each. They were marked down when no one wanted them. They looked pretty sad, but for $1.40 the pot alone was worth that. I gave away three of them, kept one. Mine died. The one I gave to my mom is doing well.

That’s insane. I feel like soon we’ll be hearing about Pink Princesses for a dollar, since I’m seeing them at all the big box stores just sitting idly… nobody buying them. 🫤 But I think people are finally understanding now, like how certain species grow and mature, or that certain vines need a support, or might get too big, etc. So people aren’t impulse-shopping as much. They’re hopefully researching plants! Haha 😂

They’re leggy & many sellers won’t carry them anymore because they’re a pain. I imagine that’s why they’re being sold in grocery stores.
