You want something special? How about the CSX Monon and New York Central heritage Locomotives!!!

I went to Glendale, Ohio on Monday morning as I usually do anymore and met up with Fred and Martin, 2 of my railfan buddies to see what was going on.
As I was pulling in the lot, 3 light locomotives went South, and I barely caught them as you probably noticed. These were the locomotives for the Connersville, Indiana local heading to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati, Ohio to pick up a cut of cars ad head back North later.
Shortly afterwards we got the biggest surprise of all. The newly released CSX "Monon" heritage locomotive and the CSX "New York Central" heritage locomotive came North leading M216, an autorack train headed for Philadelphia, Pa. The Momon unit has only been out of the shop for about a week or less!
After it went through, we get King Foul the Main doing a seldom seen "push - pull" as it heads North to do its daily switching chores in Springdale, Ohio.
Then we get a long Southbound CSX loaded coal train with 4 leading locomotives moving at a good clip that is followed by the Connersville Local headed back North.
Finally, we get a Northbound NS intermodal with a Wells Fargo leaser locomotive in the 3 spot. This is an ex-BNSF locomotive that has seen better days for sure.

I find it ironic, that after you posted this video, with the CSX heritage units, the next day, the same heritage units appeared on Virtual Railfan's video, going through Maryland. Not something I see everyday.

They get a couple a week through there. Most go North to Cleveland Cliffs Steel Mill in Middletown for steel production and have 90 cars. The Southbound ones are going to a power plant. Not sure where though.

oh i guarantee you the king's engineer was over the moon!! hard enough for them to see signals running long hood forward let alone pushing a car!! Connersville was unusual you don't normally see 2 spongebobs on the same pull!! you know that NS with the Fedex containers, we had one this morning with at least 26 Fedex containers on it and it got me thinking for a company that's supposed to be mainly air freight they ship enough on rail!!!

That`s only the second time I`ve seen them do a push / pull on the local. I think they got one customer that requires them to do it that way to save time I guess. Yes, you sure see a lot of Fed Ex containers on the intermodals. I guess it`s a lot cheaper to load a bunch up and send them to a central location and keep the trucks off the roads and pay for their fuel and insurance, plus the driver`s wages.

You have to chase it. There really isn't a good place to watch them because they will be on customer property when they are switching. You might be able to see them working in Midland yard, but it's not a very good spot either.

You get in a car and go after it. It goes to Midland every morning and switches cars around, then leaves for the day. It may go to Wilmington and Sabina or it will go to Greenfield. Not much to see, really.
