yeah, obviously these people haven't seen her at her debut, like, 11+ years ago... she's *always* been this tan LMFAO- +when one theory gets debunked, another unspoken, illegitimate factor gets brought up and tries to one-up an entire point made. first, it's her skintone. next is the way she speaks. now, it's her plastic surgery (which her lips aren't fake, her butt is *maybe?* but she also was exercising like mad before her 'who dat b?' cb, and if she wears hip pads - like most gg's/soloists do - that could be what's accentuating her figure, but idk and 🌈nobody🌈 knows either). is every tanned woman who is curvy (whether naturally or unnaturally) and has big lips a caricature for black women for you??? likeee- *again,* idk bout that. but i'll say this; some of y'all the type to say *all of this* about jessi, and still stan people like hwasa/mamamoo, hyoyeon, taeyeon, skz, exo, nct's jaehyun, red velvet's wendy, etc. so... *yeah.* [ *disclaimer:* some of these idols did a magnitude worse than the others - some of these were minor and "forgiven" (whether they apologized or not 🤭🤭) - but nevertheless, way worse than what jessi has been accused of doing from the people in the comments ]

Girl, the problem with Jessi is that she came to SK with a stereotype that all people in America or who grew up in America are loud and act like they grew up with ghetto culture. Just Look at Peniel from BTOB, Ashley Choi ex ladies code, Vernon from Seventeen, etc... All these people are mixed or grew up in America but don't act like these black characters from black comedy movies. It's not because you're a rapper that you've to act as a black rapper from the west coast. I don't care about her skin... Some people bleach, some people tan...

I was thinking the same thing… I’m from Washington DC and in the growing up the city was predominately black. I’ve known plenty of people who aren’t black that grew up and went to school here living and attended schools and spoke and acted just like the environment that they grew up in. I mean if they were heard and not seen you wouldn’t even know the difference. Same goes for anyone else in similar circumstances. People need to broaden their horizons 🤷🏽‍♀️

@ansley fields what I think is weirder is how determined you are to place a racially charged persona on her, you seem determined to call her black when she’s just, Jessi. If you have a chip on your shoulder against her don’t make it other people’s problems and don’t be racist yourself by implying she can’t do certain things without her being “black”. I totally i agree on this. when Jessi was young like when she started to debut she was under the agency of mobs, gangsters and rappers of Korea. She even said it herself, she literally grew up to that environment where his CEO was into that culture. The company itself was located in a neighborhood famous for having a lot of foreigners and a mix of cultures. Jessi grew up there when she was 15/16 and is just heavily influenced by many great artist from your culture but she’s not trying to be black. She is who she is, its her personality from being loud, straight forward, sassy and savage. She’s an embodiment of what confident woman is despite the hate and backlash she received from her own people. She fought hard on that industry trying to prove just like everyone else that she’s not somebody who copies. She’s an artist who creates music who loves music. She’s not there to represent someone she’s there to represent herself.

She also says she talks how she talks (people say in a "black accent") because she was born in New York when people know she grew up in New Jersey (in a predominantly white suburb) and moved to Korea at 14 which probably means she only lived in New York for maybe a couple of years when she was still an infant and was a preteen on New Jersey but didn't picked up on the Jersey accent? I think we often forget that people are a result of where they are from and where they spent their time. That being said, Jessi grew up in Queens and spent a lot of time in Brooklyn and over time emulated what she saw and that's slowly who she became. I'm not justifying anything she's said or done but how are we supposed to criticize her when it comes to her appropriating black culture without taking into consideration that she lived and thrived in a city saturated with it? As a person told that I sound white or try to 'act' white, the backlash Jessi receives for simply being who she is infuriating... Why do people conveniently forget that people come from all cultures and backgrounds when it comes time to push their agenda or belief? I agree that the use of the N word and the wearing of durags in kpop as a trend is NOT okay, but where I disagree is not fully understanding the circumstance of every case.

@@sadgurlpodcast___7692 100% agree. Also, I think people are not taking into consideration the Korean attitude towards black people. Koreas been a closed off society, it’s homogeneous. Many probably never met a black person in their lives. Those types of communities (ones w/ no diversity) often hold strong prejudice against those on the outside. Now this doesn’t apply to Jessie, but it does apply to a lot of Koreans born & raised. I remember a line from j.cole smth like “we forget we have to treat people like children. Almost all kpop idols have said smth racist or uninformed. Bc that country is incredibly xenophobic not only against black people. They dehumanize foreigners so much that sleeping with a foreigner doesn't count as cheating... Companies doing their research and finding out that taking from Afro-American culture is what sells best leads to kpop idols appropriating black culture without giving credit and while still being racist (I'm looking at you hwasa) Edit: and I'm not saying cancel all Koreans, I love the language and the culture but I'm saying that kpop fans need to (politely) criticize and educate their idols instead of blindly defending them. I believe is because she credits being born in New York for her accent...but the thing is she moved to a predominantly white suburb in New Jersey when she was still an infant and then she moved to Korea at 14. So, it would've made more sense for her to pick up the Jersey accent. Also, a lot of people know her since she blew up recently but the fact is she's been making music for a while and she didn't speak that way. She says she haves a lot of black friends but she's never posted them on Instagram when she even appears on vlogs of two black kpop reactors that are major fans of her so, it's not like she's not allowed to post what she does on her free time. She also gets very angry and dismissive when people bring it up. Not to mention that she stole an entire music video concept from a black artists and got super angry when people called her out.

She haves been caught stealing black artists styles and she's called people "ridiculous" when questioned even though people made side by side comparisons. She was born in New York but grew up in a predominantly white suburb in New Jersey and at 14 moved to Korea. Makes no sense because she probably was just an infant when she was in NY. She spent most of her childhood and pre-teen years in New Jersey but never picked up the Jersey accent. Also, she's not a recent idol she's been an artist/idol for some time now and she didn't speak the way she speaks now before. I'm not black so I can't say if she speaks like a black woman or not but she definitely picked up a sassy persona. I've been listening to her music for some time and she wasn't like this. I do get a little frustrated when she evades, get defensive and just straight up dismisses anyone that questions her about this. That's psychology 101. Get angry and evade until people stop asking you.

@aly its mainly her aave and her profiting off black culture without paying it homage (which a lot of kpop idols do). also it’s not about her being tan (if so we’d be upset with hyolyn and kai for blackfishing, which we aren’t ), it’s about how she carries herself if that makes sense. to a decent portion of the black community that is into kpop, she portrays herself as a stereotypical black woman (big butt, big lips, is into rap, is aggressive) and a lot of koreans probably think this is how black women actually act (great example would be wendy’s blaccent and how everyone on that show was impressed).

And I am 100% sure that one of your favourite celebrity has had work done, doesn't matter if it's eyes, nose, lips, butt or boobs they've had it done. Let's not be delulu. And the fact that some people keep pushing the ghetto, ratchet and blaccent stereotype is mind-blowing and how some of these people are African Americans, do y'all like being kept in that box? How can you jejele complain about those stereotypes and then 2seconds later "omg she's tryna be black, that bish got a blaccent, she ratchet" 🙄get over yourselves. For that reason your CA accusatory card should be revoked permanently. 💅 You don't get to pick and chose who you feel cool with and who gets to use your culture how they please. Either it's ALL wrong or it's ALL right. We've known y'all just want to gatekeep sh*t from white people 'cause admit it or not y'all hate them...and that's discrimination FYI. Reversed racism may not be a thing for y'all but discrimination is alive and well in your community. 🙄 Either way, she looks like a damn fool. She's embarrassing. Nobody in Korea acts like that, she needs to stop flipping through the African-American pages and start assimilating with her culture. It’s crazy how people are saying she doesn’t want to be black but she is heavily influenced by black culture but yet you can see the gradual change from who she was before and who she is now and you can definitely say she wants to be black. Does say that she was influenced by black culture and to say it was an evitable because she grew up in New Jersey but meanwhile you have videos on him literally singing Korean music literally nothing to do with black culture has nothing to do with black music or style at all the sudden when she became a legal adult all of a sudden she has a blaccent and she’s hood all of a sudden. Stop justifying her actions because at the end the day she’s literally doing the same thing these white girls do and y’all be literally screaming at them saying they’re black fishing😭 no she is not naturally dark if you see throughout her whole life she’s been light it’s obvious that she tans. I just want to know why she got her boobs or ass done if she wasn’t trying to be black then because last time I checked is predominantly black and Spanish women in United States that do that you don’t see Asian in Asia women doing that lmaoooo. She got her lips filled her face filled everything on her body does not look like how she used to look like when she started off singing in South Korea lmao. And most of you guys need to understand she is not really famous in America she is famous in South Korea and her portrayal of a hood girl is absolutely false and disgusting because first and foremost she did not grow up around that. Like I said you could see multiple videos of the way she grew up and to say that she grew up around predominantly Black people as if she didn’t often flight to South Korea is a joke. Stop justify her actions and I’ll have Japanese and I have black and I grew up around Black people I don’t speak like that nor act like that and I know plenty of Asians that up around predominantly black neighborhood and yet they don’t even act like this and they don’t pretend to have a black accent. For you guys saying that she was just influenced you can say that about anybody at the end of the day she is trying to be black because at the end the day she’s not trying to be Korean LMAOO To say she’s not trying to be black is a joke I wanna know what she’s trying to be because she’s not trying to be herself because if she was she wouldn’t have gotten everything done on her and she wouldn’t have a fake accent

I don’t think anyone actually cares about how tan she is, anybody can get hella tan. But it’s the way she acts that is the problem. She acts like a stereotypical black woman which is not okay. She’s spreading an image to a country that doesn’t have many black people in it, a place where an average civilian has never met a black person or even knows much about black culture that all black woman act a certain way. That shit can be harmful to the black people living in Korea.

Honestly I could go on and on about this subject. But I already discussed this topic with BOTH white and black people. Aint it tiresome for yall to be talking about this? Some of you have a lot of time on your hands. Lol End of the day Jessi is Jessi and she will most likely continue to act that way. So what's yall favorite fast food?

I don't know about yall, but I love me some good as popeyes. Their fries are one of the best in the market. The chicken really good the only downside is that they are made tiny. They don't let the chickens grow, so the wings and drums are small. 😭
