The panel definitely needed the black border. Clever to solve your ‘problem’ with the smaller blocks, though they seem a bit out of place for me. Maybe incorporating a row of the small ones in the top area and in the bottom area would have tied them in and then it would be more cohesive. Overall a cute project and lovely fabric choices. Enjoy watching you (and Maxine and Oliver) construct a quilt. Have a piece of chocolate for me!

I was thinking while you were putting it together, that I would cut the middle out to fit the old Grinch. Then sew him in, but your way make's more sense. Can you tell I like to cheat at puzzles. lol. Throw me a piece of your chocolate, em Kay. Hee, hee I'm the Grinch.

You can always cut the tumblers in half vertically to get a straight edge. Also you can do fusible applique of the panel. Then you can do an outline quilting technique of the Grinch. Then the reverse of him will show up on the back. Love the video ❤.

The tumbler block was my 2nd full size quilt. Two rows of the big ones alternating with two rows of small ones and it's an " I spy" quilt as well. My grandboys insist on sleeping under or along side of it when they spend the night. It was fun to do! Great idea for using it around a panel!

April, I love that your panel is off-center on this quilt. It really enhances the whole idea of the Grinch! 😮. Two rows on one side and three on the other. YES! I wonder how difficult it would be to use that non-straight edge of the sewn tumblers IN the outside edge of the border. You could use the tumbler as a pattern to cut out those little pieces off of the outside of the black border and then add the tumbler border. It might to tough matching up those tumblers and maybe even more of a pain at the corners as well. It would give the Grinch just a little more wonkiness. I love this idea of adding the tumblers as a border though. Definitely something to think about trying. I don’t think I have a large tumbler template but I do have the medium and the smaller (mini) size. I just might have to get the large one to complete my set. Thanks for sharing this. Your videos are just so fun. Oh, yes…..we had Baby Ruth small bite-sized pieces of our Halloween candy left-over …..I do not recall the last time I had a Baby Ruth candy bar…..I thought I didn’t like them……well I was wrong. It is chocolate and nuts after all! How can that not be good? Thanks for sharing this one with us!

I’ve also wondered about making a large row and then a cluster of small beside it and then a large and a small beside that…still thinking on how that would work though. Hi Nancy The wall is a FOAM insulation board (buy it at lowes or home depot) ... then I covered it with flannel then my husband mounted it on the studs of my unfinished basement hope this helps April

1) didn't you used to have a cat named "Peanut" as well? If so where has he been hiding himself? maybe i'm confusing him with Oliver... 2) the no hole "problem" is really a no problem issue if you have a drill. find the same size bit that fits the holes in the rulers that already have holes. then SLOWLY but steadily drill a hole in it. if you go to fast. you can crack it. placing tape around where you want to drill will help with it wanting to crack as well.

Thank you for asking about Peanut. Last December she crossed the rainbow bridge. I miss her all the time - she was my quilting buddy. On a brighter note, my husband saw that part of my video and told me the same thing! So we'll see if he does it. LOL April

@@aprilscraftroom I'n so sorry for the loss of a cherished fur baby. Some people don't understand how they can become like our children. Especially if our "real" children have up and moved out. on the lighter side ( i love how you said that), i too had a husband who didn't always follow through with litlle things like that. So i just taught myself how to do them! You are a confident, smart, and very creative YOU would be able to do this easily. i could make a lengthy post explaining it step by step. BUt i'm a visual person. And so i suggest you just look it up on KZbin on how to drill a hole in plastic. you'll be amazed at how fast & EASY it really is.
