Fat Quarter Friendly Super Fast Strip Quilt Tutorial

I found a super easy fat quarter friendly quilt pattern that I am going to show you how to make. The Halloween fat quarter bundle by Creativ from Walmart is perfect for this project and it will be Halloween before we know it. So pull out 9 fat quarters and get ready to make this fun and easy quilt!

It really isn't a pattern - we're going to cut out 4" strips from our fat quarters and I will go over the directions from there. If you are bad a decision making, just stack those fat quarters up and use then in that order. Do not overthink this. LOL. The size I am making is 48 x 60", but this pattern can be easily expanded.

I don't mind adding borders. I just finished a quilt for my Grandson with a 2" thin black border and a 6" wide multi color border and then I used black for the binding. I REALLY liked the look that framing the focal section of the quilt made, BUT I did not like working with black... it attracted everything but men and money! 😂😂. Love your videos April.

I love your quilts. They are fun! I would do the skinny border and the splatter border for my quilt. I like a frame. Also thank you for erasing the stigma of using Walmart fabric. Sometimes I don’t want to use $$$$ fabric when I’m sewing for fun. Plus, if it’s cute fabric who cares who the manufacturer is?

Although I don’t use Walmart fabric (because the closest one is over an hour away), I do go to Joanns for fabric, as well as my quilt shop. The quilt shop does carry really nice fabrics and they are pricey. But Joanns carries cute juvenile fabrics as well as lots of flannels and cuddle, my quilt shop carries only a minimal amount of cuddle, and basically no flannel. Joanns also carries much more holiday fabrics, so I go there for baby and holiday quilt fabric. It is usually on sale when I buy it, so the prices are phenomenal, and if I’m careful, i can avoid the fabric that is not as good, so sewing with their fabric is really enjoyable. Love this quilt! I like the challenge of a more complex pattern, but the more simple patterns are also enjoyable when you just want to sew something. This quilt really highlights the fabric, so if you have fabric you love, this pattern can highlight it. Thanks for the tutorials, I am really enjoying them.

i use walmart alot, also through amazon...i don't expect my quilts to hold up for generations...i sew for fun, grandkids love the holiday specific quilts, i now most of my quilts are to keep me warm, they'll all be useful for a long time. enjoy your videos...

I like to use a smaller inner boarder and then a wider boarder. The inner boards gives the inside field your your quilt a place to stop and creates a nice frame. I typically use a dark inner boarder. Some one once said, if you don't what color to use - try black. Used it on a bright hot pink batik baby quilt and it turned out fabulous. Love your videos!

I love this one with the borders. But I also like that this pattern can be made without borders and it doesn’t have that “unfinished” look to it. So it works either way which is great depending on how much fabric you have. Great video, April. Love the “out takes”. The are quite entertaining, for sure!
