Another thing that is worth mentioning about sentient wrath is that not only does the damage vulnerability effect apply even if an enemy has overguard, but if you break the overguard while the debuff is still in effect, they will be lifted.

Two things I would mention as well: 1) The Catalyzing Shields mod seem to be oddly synergic with his Lethal Progeny. They regenerate a flat amount of shields per second, and Catalyzing Shields puts your Shields at 130. With good enough Strength (200% for the armor strip is more than enough), those shields get fully replenished in under 1 second. The mod gives you a 1.3 sec shieldgate instead of the 1.8 you get from his unmodified shields, in that 1.3sec window you can cast any ability to trigger the Augur set mods, making your shields able to regenerate again without waiting for the shield delay. I find this good if you don't want to use Arcane Aegis because you can simply replace it with Catalyzing Shields and free an Arcane slot. 2) Roar's synergy is also indirect, because it double dips on dots. It's another multiplier to damage in addition to Sentient Wrath, being one of the few frames that can do this reliably with an helminth. Caliban makes enemies more likely to get affected by status effects, at 10 Tau stacks the enemy gets 2x the status effects, which means 2x the dots, and Roar double dips on dots. You can also run the Piercing Roar augment for more crowd control, indirect damage reduction from the Puncture procs (at 5 puncture, enemies deal 80% less damage) and a flat +25% crit chance to direct hits. I really wish Caliban gets an augment that infuses his weapons with Tau. That way, many weapons with heat damage would double their heat status procs which increases the damage a lot.

@@amolistic_ Caliban doesn't really need Duration though, there has to be some specific build that manages to balance enough Strength, Range, Efficiency and energy regen. Fleeting Expertise + Primed Continuity give 95% Duration and 160% Efficiency, Equilibrium has more value with good efficiency so as long as we kill enemies we should be good. Archon Stretch (companion with electricity and manifold bond) + Augur Reach should give enough range for Caliban. Piercing Roar as the 6th mod. Growing Power, Intensify and Augur Secrets put us at 179 Strength, and we reach at least 200% with 2 Archon Shards. Molt Augmented for more strength on long missions since we still use Roar after all, and a free arcane for utility like Avenger, a damage one, Aegis or even Energize if the energy isn't enough There are also 3 other shards to use, maybe 1-2 for max energy, 1 for casting speed if needed, maybe 5 tauforged strength ones, or even status chance on primary shards because of tau

So far this is the most comprehensive caliban rework giude But you did miss a few things -arty summons have punchthrough on their mortar shots and explode when hitting the ground -choralysts have 2 attacks, a weak orb and a weak bomb (seems like they aren't effected by the damage booster of caliban's other summons) -summulysts attack with their own missiles as well, which i'be seen them do in place of summoning chors -summons aren't buffed by some abilities like elemental ward, the best way to buff them is still nourish due to the damage boost and viral aoes -summons double dip their bonuses from high str with a rank, damage multiplier, and health modifier -his summons have 10× damage to any damage they deal to non sentient enemies As a long time caliban main, i would have pointed out how much faster and longer lived his summons are as well

Yea, I found the overall the summons don’t do crazy damage but having enough strength to strip (164%+corrosive projection) makes them effectively unkillable and lets you put way more into range and duration to get the most out of the armor strip, sentient uptime and shield recharge beam range

I would personally recommend Primed Redirection since it's very easy to refill his shields with his sentient summons and helps give you a long shield gate. And if your shields break at any point, simply using Razor Gyre in a group of mobs will help refill them.

I've been playing Caliban with ensnare over his 1, and he's so fun to use. I summon my Conculysts to keep me alive while baiting enemies to come in a bit closer, group them all up with Ensnare once they're all within range, use Sentient Wrath and apply a couple viral stacks for the vulnerability, and then armor strip/demolish everything with fusion strike. I've been using it on SP enemies around level 200 with no problem (except for overguarded units) I considered using Madurai for the increased ability strength, but because you have to cast so much so fast, I opted for Zenurik for the energy regen, and hardened wellspring adds a decent bit of strength as well. I never really considered using Caliban before the rework and I thought I would just level and subsume him, but he's a blast to play.

Something to note too about Fusion Strike You can technically armor strip without the 200%, for this example lets go with 150%. Having the conculysts active will do the armor strip but 50% effective. That means you take out about 3/4ths of the armor and the 50% of your strength is enough for the conculysts to finish the strip. Its not the most effective but its just something to note is all.

Adaptation doesn't override his passive. The game prioritizes which everone is ahead and they'll play tic tac toe with eachother. Essentially making your adaptation ramp up more effectively. So yes even on Caliban you still build adaptation. Cause all frames are overloaded now.

Honestly I wouldn't even call Conculysts the damage guys I have no idea what they're meant to be used for. The Ortholysts are the real star of the show, they may prime everything but they also do insane damage as well and thats before including your armour strip and damage vulnerability abilities. When it comes to armour they'll struggle a bit on the tougher enemies but they'll deal with 80% of what spawns. On stuff like corpus or infested they'll just deal with everything, I've had one of my guys hit 5 mil against a corpus before.

Regarding the amount of damage the Conculysts deal 'not scaling with any mods'... isn't that kind of deceptive? Because even though they deal 1000 damage 'unaffected by mods', there's literally a universal Summoned Sentient Damage Multiplier stat under this ability, which IS affected by Power Strength. So like, I think that's actually not nearly as bad as it sounds, they just use one stat to tell you how much your strength is multiplying your summons' damage. I'm not sure, I'd have to experiment with it, but I think people are misinterpreting what the dev workshop meant by that.

Idk why DE is so afraid of abilities doing a ton of damage. I do think they've gotten better at allowing damage abilites scale higher than usual, but it seems there is always that one or two abilites they hold back on for no reason. Players are already able to do millions of damage with weapons with the right setup, at the very least make the base damage of abilities a respectable amount.

@souleater4242564kodd I mean I do plan to take on steel when I feel reasy for it, but I do agree those who obsess over level cap are annoying, cause there is no point a reasonable person is willing to go that long into a mission just to fight obsurde lvl9999 enemies. My point tho still stands when you consider DE made content as high as 100-200+, Sorties, Archon Hunts, plus steel path itself for those who want to take that on. At the very least I feel every frame should be capable of handling that high of content on their own merits, without having to rely on any subsumed abilites to be affective, especially when it comes to abilities which are specifically designed to be doing the damage and offer not much else. So yeah, I want abilities to be able to put on the hurt, at the very least when built right. I want to be able to perform well in the expected content DE has set up for us at the higher 100-200 range and not be banging my head trying to make something work. When it comes to so-called "nuke" frames so long as if there is a necessary setup, I really don't mind them. I mean hey it's a hoard shooter, and they've made a freaken bow the shoots bombs, an ax that shoots a disk the flares out elements, and little throwable bombs that can while st the very least lol 100 grunts with relative ease. I don't think having frames that can wipe rooms under certain conditions is a bad thing, especially if it takes a bunch of resources to get to that point anyway. Ember I feel is a good example. You can't just nuke lvl100 enemies by just pressing 4, you gotta go through her whole setup to make that kind of damage happen. That is how I feel nuke frames should be handled.
