Suikoden 1 and 2 were a huge part of my childhood. 5 was close to bringing back the feeling of the first 2 games. I hope if they do actually make 6, they try to make it as true to the originals as possible. Also I worry about western bs interfering with the narrative. We can just hope that they will get a team that understands the importance of the world lore and everything that goes along with the themes of war.

Suikoden... this is my husband's teenage favorite game. He has the Soul Eater rune tattooed on the back of his right hand. He was the one that got me into it. We still have the issue of MegaFan that tells where every single character is that he used his first time playing, that he had me use the first time I played it. I played it the first time when I was pregnant with my firstborn (the one obsessed with Star Ocean 2), and... her middle name is Camille!! So. We love our PSX-era RPGs!

I hear people say that 3 was great. I never really gave it the chance it deserved. Upon trying it, it just felt so incredibly far removed from what I knew that I had zero interest in it. I never bought 4. I watched a buddy go through a lot of it and the whole ship captain, most of the time I watched was on a boat, just turned me off. I never even knew that 5 was a thing until MANY years later. I ended up playing that on a PS2 emulator and I was blown away by it. That was the game that I had hoped 3 would have been.

That would be great only changes I would make are to 3 and 4 off the top off my head in 3 unlink the groups so one attack isn't for an entire row of character and in 4 update to six party members like other games and for the love of all that is holy make the ship faster and less random battles

FYI Clive himself isn't difficult to recruit. You don't have to do his timed side quest at all for him to join. However his story is more fleshed out if you do it and I believe Richmond has different investigation info on him if you do it as well. I also think his end game character summary changes.

This! There's a secret cutscene you get with him if you get to a certain place end-game within a certain time frame, but getting him to join isn't all that difficult.

As a fan since the first one came out I'm fine with it. Takahiro Sakiyama, who directed Suikoden 5 is on it, and seems to be working with Junko Kawano who helped create the series with Murayama. If anyone can continue the lore if there is a Suikoden VI it's them. Who knows if Murayama even had the stories or characters fleshed out to begin with.

Murayama was an incredible writer but Konami still did an amazing job on Suikoden 5 so if they get the right people to make it (fans of his work and/or people who worked with him) then I'm sure it'd be great.

Silent Hill 2 remake being well received (haven’t played it myself) could be a sign that Konami might be making a Capcom style comeback but at the moment l’m not getting my hopes up.

Suikoden has been my favorite RPG series. I always enjoyed RPGs with a darker tone to them and the story telling the series did was amazing (even Suikoden 4) I personally still own my copy of each of the games and if they are talking Suikoden 6 that would be the most amazing news I could hear (unless it gets the Breath of Fire 6 treatment yuck!) Konami has an iffy history, but there must have been some huge management shake-up these last few years. Also, worth noting that we got a Contra Collection followed by two new games, and a Metal Gear Collection followed by a big budget remake of the third game, so it seems like they're watching people's reactions to these collections

On the one hand, I love re-releases like this because they enable me to play games for the first time ever since I didn't have access when such games first came out. On the other hand, there does seem to be a strong trend of companies who made these great JRPGs being slow to innovate and create new IPs. We're in a weird phase of history right now where it seems as though (and maybe I'm wrong) many game companies who have been around for at least 30 years in the JRPG space feel like it's too risky (and/or expensive) to create new IP, so they improve and release their legacy IP.

Okay this is what i think they need to seriously points out or at least hints it. That when you have 2 high tiered when you use the skill it suddenly became a combo/merged rune skills. I only found out about this when i mix and match peeps with high level runes. But when i watch a lot of streamers / youtuber plays it. They actually never discovered this at all.

Suikoden 1&2 are confirmed censored. Certain conversations referencing the past and a character smoking are removed. What else is good ng to be changed? Upscale the graphic and combat, improve UI, leave the story alone. That's it.

Don't know how I feel about suikoden vi when the creator of the best ones (suikoden 1 and 2) is no longer with us. The suikoden remakes look great, though I don't need to play them again since I already remember exactly what happens. A game is never as good the second time through since the surprises are gone, I'll probably just look at a playthrough of the remakes. Glad that younger players will be given a chance to see these great RPG's... wish there was more RPG's like that and less "we have no respect for your time or entertainment" games like every game in the trails or persona series, the people who worked on suikoden 1 and 2 knew exactly what they were doing when it came to pacing, fun and good storytelling.

Frankly if this does well, I'm hoping for a remaster of Suikoden 3 (As it's the capstone that concludes the story started in 1 and 2,! I get that it's the PS2 entry, to the two PS1 entries! But it just feels INCOMPLETE without the trilogy) I'm skipping 4 as I had my fill of that entry! But I REALLY would like the Entry to 5 as that was my FAVORITE of the three PS2 entries But a 6 would be interesting to see. In a way it might be like Grandia 3 in that it's an entry that WON'T have the original creators input, but if they do a good job with the remasters, it gives hope that a 6th entry will do well (An ADVANTAGE of Suikoden AFTER 3 is that 4 and 5 were prologues that took place BEFORE the main trilogy, so they were side story to characters who showed up or were important in the main trilogy even though Ted from 1 was more a side story! Good he escaped that ship, bad because MUCH later down the road he would lose his life and place his burden AGAINST HIS WILL on his new BFF by Suikoden 1 because Windy has yet to realize True Runes are ALIVE and fucking GODS, meaning her hubris like the Hikusaak in trying to harness them like normal Runes his hilarious in a Black Comedy fashion!) I'm sure it will be a prologue as well. Maybe taking place in Harmonia since that region got alluded to ALOT (even though if I remember, their ambitions were ended for good with what Luc did by the end of 3 which closed off the trilogy, with 4 and 5 only alluding to them going after Alternatives in the Punishment and Sun runes. But being Big Bad wannabes in those entries compared to the big bad's involved in those games stories! They mostly were involved to justify you recruiting Howling Guild Members in those entries LOL! But it would also make a good sequel as High Priest Hikusaak still wasn't dealt with at the end of Suikoden 3 (hell the plot of that was on his two clones who we never KNEW were clones, but when we get to know LUC in the first game, then second game we see him again and a HIGH RANING Harmonia officer who looks JUST LIKE HIM Sasarai. Hinted that there was MORE to that connection between them with S3 pretty much CONFIRMING those suspicions! Yeah Hikusaak and his circle rune are still around even if his plans for the two and the True Element Runes was foiled for good! Maybe 6 will conclude the conflict over the True Runes with him! I would prefer a sequel going forward, I'm sure Yoshitaka Murayama left some notes on his plan! Yeah like with Kentaro and Berserk. It won't be HIM penning it! But if given to a competent writer who understands the other writers work and respects their material! You can get something CLOSE to the vision that was expected with the original! It's a good way to HONOR the original writer

While I completely hear where your coming from wanting new games and seeing the series continue, if I'm being honest I have more faith in remakes or remasters as they've proven to be good the first time around. Also I played them 20 or so years ago and I have a memory like a goldfish, so they're practically new games for me anyways. Remember every damn thing about them, so there's little point in me playing it again, I'll just watch a playthrough of the remakes to relive the vibe of it instead of going to the trouble of playing through what I already know. Happy for those that have forgotten and the new players who get to experience it for the first time.

I could see them remastering Suikoden 3 through 5 and porting them over to modern hardware - it seems like all Konami has been doing with their IPs lately have just been porting remastered collections to modern systems (ie. Castlevania), or just porting games with a graphical reskin and that's it (the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid 3 "Remake"). I'd honestly be surprised if there was a new title in the series that came out - unfortunately the skeptic in me would have the likelihood of that being low given the Konami track record the past several years - that being said, I'd love more of that world and the overall story/mythos to continue with 6 - I just don't see it being a highly likely thing - but hey, maybe I will eat those words later (honestly I hope I do).

Suikoden 2 is my favourite rpg of all time! I'm so happy for this remaster; i will buy it for sure🎉 I really hope they will realize Suikoden 6!

Im gonna be honest, i cant put onto words how i feel and love Suikoden 2, its no doubt one of the best games ever, and the series as a whole is amazing. I know a Suikoden 6 will be not the same without murayama, but S5 did ended being so great i dont care, i need it!!!

Yep, suikoden 1 and 2 are some of the best games ever. I feel like Suikoden 5 didn't have as much of a "hopeless struggle" feeling as one and two did though, it was a fun game but wasn't as good as those for that reason to me. It makes it all the more satisfying to finally defeat the enemies when it feels so hopeless for a lot of the game.
