We have white lie and evil lie...For example if a criminal comes to you and is seeking for the address of one of your very friendly and helpful neighbors to kill them...Would you tell the truth or lie? Would you really give them the address to get your neighbor killed or would you lie to save his life? Lying is not evil when you use it to save someone or motivate someone...It is forgiven because in Hinduism and Buddhism, God is compassionate and forgiving...God is not like how Abrahamic scriptures describe...That God should be feared blah blah blah...

Lying is not evil but it is a tool and the way you use it is going to define which type of person you are....Just like I give you money and tell you to do whatever you want with the money but if you are an evil person, then you will use the money to buy drugs, weapons, smuggle etc... But if you are a good person, you will use the money to help other people have a better life ... So is the money good or evil? Knife in the hand of a doctor can save someone, but knife in the hand of a dacoit can kill someone....So is the knife good or evil?? Lie too is a tool just like the knife and the money are...The person is the one who define themselves... Lie doesn't define you...
