Been using a piston car since survival was released. Today I logged into my game and immediately my poison powered car exploded. All the suspension flew off. My pistons all flew off. And all the connections from my seat and controllers to my bearings and pistons were all disconnected. I spent over a hour putting it all back together and it didn't work. The pistons just kept trying to push the car apart. I took this as a sign to retire the piston car and finally use a gas engine to get around faster.

you did something really wrong as piston engine has low propability to break. to use them properly you also need to use your brain and understand what you are doing but yeah

not really, compare to this engine design controller cars are noob cars, but he forgot about the bearing on the pipe to the frame so he fucked up, if not hes going to have a piston car that will have a speed rivals gas engine

@@zero5496 yes controller engines are more simple to build but they have more torque and less slippage than piston engines *in survival* i suspect the dev's will add a more advanced bearing that is more rigid like the one in creative and at that time piston engine's will once again reign supreme

@@johnchiz54 yeah mostly cuz piston got tons of upgrade thats why its so good now in survival, but i get your point, i just prefer the high speed piston engine design, its been serving me so well i dont bother use anything else, except i did make it a gas hybrid just for that extra boost when need, so far its not necessary but better have more than less

I had a few more issues from a piston engine than I did with a 6 bearing on each side controller engine assigned to w and s keys , but like I said my opinion plus it's a massive up for me because i dont need to have switches to go forward or backwards:)

Piston engine are way less powerful in survival than they are in creative. Don't be too surprised when your car won't haul as much weight as you thought it would.

You can also make a controller engine instead of a piston one. (Bassicly just a ton of bearings and a controller)

The piston car is obnoxious to use with the switches and its slow. The controller car is nice for exploring and looting runs but it likes to bug out especially with a heavy car. I think once you can upgrade a level 5 gas engine, just use that and save yourself the headaches.

I actually used the exact same piston engine design for the past week, it was nice, and you forgot the bearing connect the pipe to the engine, remove your two block between the pipes and put a bearing in it fool

For some reason, when I tried this piston design, it was both unreliable and far too weak to move my metal-framed car. It had nearly no power, and I couldn't see anything I did wrong (yes, I checked all the parts settings, still nothing). I found that bearing powered cars are easier and more reliable.

the dev's have known about this exploit for 2 years. they made the piston engine garbage by increasing the slip in the bearings while ramping up the power of the gas engines at higher tier. if they wanted to nerf it completely they had the time to do it

Hey Z1 you could try to make the bearing powered car created by "j0hnbane" it's a lot less complicated than the piston powered car & faster than it, more than that it doesn't require fule or batteries please take a look at it on KZbin it might change the way you build all your vehicle's..... please do take a look you won't regret it.

I found the piston cars slow and not very powerful. I tried tinkering with settings and only ever broke the engine. Just use a level 5 gas engine and all good.
