Becky, your channel has quickly become my "comfort" channel, you're all I want to watch and I find you so comforting to listen to and learn from! I had chickens for several years and for me, once molting started I knew eggs would be a rare commodity until spring. I always reminded myself their little bodies needed a rest and since they brought me so much joy, I didn't mind the lack of eggs, I'm sure you can relate!
@JanicePhillips Жыл бұрын
I'm a chicken farmer myself! I breed my own line of chickens (with the help of the best broody hen EVER, Mrs. Blondie Kelso) and I adore my ladies...and even some of the boys too. I have taken to water glassing my Spring overflow and they sure come in handy for all the baking during the holidays! But, yes...once the molt starts, the egg laying stops! I don't force mine to lay eggs all year and just let nature do what nature does.
@JanicePhillips Жыл бұрын
Oh...lol. I got to yacking about chickens and forgot what I was gonna say! Comforting? HAHA! Becky makes me feel lazy and I come here to get motivated to Get It Done! But, I do understand what you're saying...Becky's one of those "comfortable" people. I doubt she'd like me much IRL because I'm very outspoken, loud, and pushy while she seems more sensitive and subdued, but then...maybe we'd get to talking chickens and garlic and get along just fine! She's a doll and I thank God every day that I found Azure through her and am now feeding my family only the best!

Hi Becky, If I were making nutella I would make a hazelnut butter first. From my experience making nut butters you don't need any extra oil they have too much to start with. Just blend the nuts with a pinch of salt and some sweetener (you can always adjust later) but don't add anything else. especially not water based (like the vanilla). when the nuts are smooth they will be oily. I would now add the cocoa powder, sweetener and taste for flavor. with your nut butter perfectly smooth it's now just a matter of how thick or thin you want it. so now add the liquid flavorings (vanilla, etc). if it's too loose remember the rule, water based ingredients to thicken it and fat based to make it more liquidy. Like a turned mayonnaise, I would use the other two cups of hazelnuts and make a new smooth butter, then add the 'failed' nutella a tablespoon at a time, and DON'T add more until completely smooth again. taste and adjust the flavor. and remember the thicken and thinning rule. Hope it works out. All the best Jim Oaxaca

Pam here:….suggestion for picking your main color. Use a 4x8 sheet of drywall and paint. Move it to various places in your space, by windows in dark spots even VIDEO yourself with it behind you. If you go too light white gray…you will wash yourself out and make yourself look sick. Having a MUCH larger 4x8 sheet painted gives you a much better read because your eyes are not picking up so much of other color on wall that will cast tones on it. Paint is EASY. For me the best color I have ever had is Warm Muffin (Behr)the most beautiful gold yellow color that makes all my woodwork pop, warms room and I don’t look like death in. The color goes with every other color you wish to pair with it. All the best! Be happy with what you choose!!

No worries-repainting isn't that big of a deal. You will be so glad that you did!

My first house I got really excited and started painting about an hour after getting the keys. I painted an entire hallway, up the stairs and the landing area. Twice. It took me 3 days to decide I hated it 😂 but the time my parents arrived a week later to help me move my stuff in from my rented house I'd already begun painting over it... It happens to the best of us!! Well done to Josh for being so sweet! 😄

One of the reasons it took us a full year at this house to decide to paint! We are doing the outside first because it was pink...I had repainted our old house so many times usually on a whim (mostly because I didn't like the color) on my day off from work...my husband would come home from work and say "What?? are you doing?" :D So the inside will wait until we are done with the outside.

My chickens laid eggs regularly even up into their 5-6 years of age. I fed them minerals, oster shell, grit, Diatomacious Earth daily in their feed for keeping their intestines free of round worms. Also kept a plain red light on during the night in their nesting box area. They could sleep better than w/ white light, but it gave them more light for egg laying. Always give them plenty of fresh water. Egg production is cut when the water is stale or not enough water even in winter. Look up egg preservation also for when you have an abundance of eggs.

The name for scent disbursement in candles is called throw. There is cold throw (how well you can smell it when its NOT burning) and hot throw (how well you can smell it when burning). Sometimes a scent is great in one and not so good in another. Depends on the fragrance, but also on the wax used. There is a maximum amount you can add for safety reasons (and because the wax just gets saturated). Generally that's around 9% by weight. Good job. You've inspired me to make some candles. It's been a while.

Hi Becky, I definitely recommend making nut butters in a food processor rather than a vitamix. Additionally, process just the nuts first until they become smooth (it will take awhile and look funny at first but it will work!) then add the other ingredients. I lined a baking sheet with foil, added my garlic and a few tablespoons of olive oil, mixed it up well with my hands and spread it out to one level. I then covered the pan with foil and crimped it tightly with my hands so it was sealed well. I baked the garlic for 1 hour at 350 degrees F. and then filled small, cleaned and sterilized jars with the hot garlic, put the lids/caps on. Once the lids popped and the garlic was completely cooled, I put these jars in my freezer. Now, I always have roasted garlic for cooking.

Hey Becky, I used to save all of my boxes, but (although extremely immaculate) found a mouse this year. They LOVE cardboard, napkins, paper towels, etc. So I dumped the boxes quickly. I used a laundry basket to bring the bottles downstairs. Item number two that I learned this year is that I don't need to save all the rings. I saved extra of both, but if you think about it, once we can those items we remove the rings. So I have enough for a full day of canning and some extras for gifts, but the others I tossed. I sorted all of it and it is wonderful. All of my seeds are organized by type and in a plastic bin in order. I also dated all of them and the seeds are sealed in the plastic bin so moisture and critters will not bother the seeds. Hope this help a little bit.

Hi Becky, if you save those potatoes with the eyes you can plant them in the spring. Love, love love your channel!

Hi, Becky! I think the cream may have split through being overwhipped in the blender (the milk wouldn't have split). We would always blend the nuts first, adding from the oil as necessary and then adding the remaining oil and ingredients and mixing. I also seem to remember there being more oil than 2tbs. You want to keep mixing so that you are essentially turning the nuts into butter. Adding dairy, will also shorten the 'shelf life' of the Nutella. Wishing you the best in your upcoming new adventure of parenthood!

I’m finally getting comfortable pressure canning. I did 17 pints of Turkey broth the day after Thanksgiving. I love canning beans and potatoes.

I need to get in the habit of putting a towel under my mixing bowls like you do! Flour is such a pain to wipe up, but I never think of it until I'm scraping cement off my counters 😅

I am in awe of your organization, creativity, and most of all how you stay calm and unflappable even during stressful times. I seriously learn from you, esp when you take on overwhelming projects with a relaxed demeanor. I frequently feel completely overwhelmed by many things in my house, cooking for a big family, organizing, and managing everything, etc. On a random note, I saw the Listerine in your basement and it reminded me that I just wanted to second the comment I read on another video that we would love a dental hygiene video if you ever feel so inclined 😉. I already switched my floss thanks to you. You are an inspiration to so many people. Best of luck with the birth and the new baby!❤

Hi Becky. We’ve made our own peanut butter in the vitamix. You have to keep blending until it turns into a butter and gets a little warm. Next time put the nuts in first turn into a butter then add the other ingredients and mix. I think that should work. Wishing you an easy and safe labor and all the best with the new baby!!! My baby girl is 32 now and she was due in Dec and was 3 weeks early born at the end of Nov. Have the most wonderful holiday season. You will never forget this one!

Another reason to make two loaves is that you can put nuts in one and not in the other. I have a friend who likes chocolate chips in theirs, so I do one for each of us, I use mini semi sweet chips. And because I like things evenly sized, I weigh my batter in the pan.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be with you while you do things because it gives me the boost I need to get my things done. I’m a huge procrastinator. Today I had 3 loads of laundry to put away, one was sheets and a comforter so it wasn’t really a lot, just looked like it and was overwhelming my senses, but with your help it’s all done and now I’m going to fix my hubby a nice dinner.

Hey Becky, in Belgium we make the chocolate spread with butter and melted chocolate, also you really need to blend the hazelnuts much longer. Give it a try with the butter and chocolate, you will be amazed!

Becky, if you could find a way to put up a dark curtain in front of the potatoes it will keep all the light out and they won't sprout as fast and no outside light to make them turn green. It will make them last longer. Just trying to help. Even a thin rope tied and fastened or taped onto the ridge on the shelving would work. ❤️❤️ Where there's a will there's always a way to be found, lol

Hey Becky, I highly recomend using galvanized steal trash cans with lids for your feed for your flock. They can be locked down with bungy cords if you keep them out side. God bless you. Enjoying your channel. I think we all have chosen a color we regretted in the end. I know I have. You do a great job.

Becky, all of the recipes I've seen for Nutella call for condensed milk and semisweet chocolate chips, and heating them up together. When you're looking for a recipe such as Nutella, do a search for "copycat" Nutella. You'll more than likely find what you're looking for. Love the channel.

Becky, don't feel bad about the paint color. I once saw Joanna Gaines on Fixer Upper repaint a whole house exterior because she did not like the first shade that she had picked. It is extremely difficult to tell from a small wall swatch how the whole house interior will look when painted. Many times we like small doses of a color, but not a whole bunch of it. Take red for example. Nice for a scarf or t-shirt, but I'm not painting any rooms red! : D Repainting is a normal part of choosing paint, IMHO. : ) : ) : )

Hey Becky I love your videos, they are a nice break from school work! I just watched your ketchup making videos and wanted to say that you can speed up the reduction process by splitting the ketchup into 3 separate pots (or more) because it will increase the surface area for boiling. That should make it take the correct amount of time! Just a tip from a chemistry major always tripling things in lab!
