My vote is either the Makita Slider or the Festool kapex. The robot arm sliders like the Bosch, Delta, and Ridgid have deflection the wider you go and you need to have a consistent pull everytime or else your cuts will vary slightly. Also I’d recommend a shadow line versus a laser

2:29 Bosch or Delta cruzer are 2 that I know of and have used both before settled on my current miter saw choice down below. Delta has lots of accessories/mods can buy and add, more so than Bosch, and do like the Bosch, but b/c of the accessories for Bosch….id go delta instead. That said, makita does have a zero clearance but not the articulated arm you said, it’s the rail system that slides forward not back; so can have against wall, just like the metabo-hpt 36v 10” dual bevel that I actually been using now for 2.5 yrs now as main saw and have custom fabricating solutions zero clearance fence and table insert that absolutely love using along w/ their miter saw extensions setup for work I do. Also are very easy to contact etc. Also use a industrial miter saw blade that is NOT thin kerf, as this helps to prevent wobble when doing full slide cut etc and imo, blades last bit longer and also get them sharpened (yes, know more saw blades are being made to resharpened at lower prices, but depending on blade, not sure worth it). Hope helps someone, have good one Cheers✌🏻

I'll usually sand the inside part of the openings (the 3/4" thick part) before I assemble the face frames. Then you can do it with the orbital sander and not by hand. No rails in the way at that point

Would a radial arm saw meet your needs? I suppose all the compound angles and such you can do with a miter saw might answer that question, but if you ask me you can't beat the accuracy of a radial arm saw. I will definitely be interested to see what you land on.

Used to use the Gator sandpaper and it was pretty decent. Then I tried the 3M Xtract sandpaper. The difference is night and day, less clogging, longer use and much better dust extractions due to the mess backing design.

I have found that a quality sandpaper lessens the amount of effort to get rid of scratches from a previous grit. Used to use the cheapest I could get but used some 3m cubitron on a project and now will not go back. Try some and see what I mean!

I use a 10 inch dual bevel Skil sliding miter saw. There is a 12 inch one as well if you need bigger. It's a really good value! My favorite feature is the shadow line instead of a laser or light. I've only seen that feature on maybe one other brand and the Skil has all if not more features than the other competitor brands. Go to a Menards or Lowes if there is one near you and they should have it on display so you can compare them all

I tested 3 sliding miter saws that are designed to fit close to the wall. I returned one immediately, used one for 2 months and gave it away, then ended up keeping the Makita LS1219L. The Makita is expensive but it's cheaper than wasting time on saws that can't do the job. You'll need to set it up to get the most out of it. There is almost no deflection at full extension. Stops are solid. Adjustments are easy. Dust control is OK but the throat needs to be kept clean, it clogs easily.

Recently got the Bosch GCM12SD. You have to spend the time to set it up and calibrate it. It is fully adjustable. Found the table, fences and shoulders to be within Bosch's manufacture tolerance specs, which are lacking with respect to expectations for "fine woodworking" (i've seen new festools out of the box much worse). Use a full kerf blade to reduce runout. Adding a shadow light is an easy and cheap mod and would recommend the shop nation dust adapter as well. While you can enduce some deflection, you kind of have to force it to deflect, which would happen if you are rushing or forcing a cut rather than letting the blade do the work. At this price point, you probably won't find anything better that will fit up against a wall. Good Luck with your choice.

I built some kitchen cabinets, the youtuber I watched said always cut a reference edge on your melamine. I knew better and said to myself, melamine has to have edges that are 90 degrees because they make it at the melamine factory and how could it not be 90 degrees? After taking apart a glued and screwed cabinet because its corners were not 90 degrees, I started cutting reference edges. It's amazing how out of square some of the sheet goods edges are. Apparently, the workers at the melamine factory didn't get the 90 degree training.

I have a 12 inch Metabo HPT sliding miter saw where the motor/blade slide on fixed rails rather than the rails sliding and protruding out the back. It looks like they only offer that in the 10 inch battery version (that can also be plugged in apparently) for some reason. Mine is NOT battey operated at all. Other woodworking KZbinrs have voiced concerns that there might be a bit of slop/wiggle in those articulating arm miter saws like the Delta Cruzer. They might be acting picky though since it's not a Festool or whatever they like.

There are a lot of videos showing that the articulating arm saws have deflection when extended, especially in miters, and double especially in compound miters. I want one, but I'm going to hold off until they get that figured out. I'll just stick to my old Bosch slider until then.

15:03 actually started using face shield to prevent stuff getting into my eyes, as now have severe dry eyes that doing a ceiling drywall patch can cause me to get 3 cornea scratches on right eye and 2 on left and tell ya; not fun at all and ended up in e.r. 🤦🏼 yes ppl, had safety glasses on but didn’t work, so now use face shields and full face masks to protect eyes and lungs when needed. P.s. to anyone doing remodels or any type construction, PLEASE do not sweep crap into cavities or under tub, b/c no one likes removing ceiling drywall and getting face full of junk, like who throws 2 glass beer bottles under a tub and an empty lays chips and Doritos bags 🤦🏼 getting hit with glass in face always fun, NOT; so….please think of next person and cleanup afterwards. Ok, rant done. Cheers✌🏻

If you want top of the line saw I would recommend Bosch GCM12SD Professional. I bought one a few years ago for $250. Got it off a contractor who was taking this thing onsite to jobs and it was to heavy to continue doing that. I got a steal and so far it works pretty well. This is for DIY home projects too so I don't even use this thing professionally, but see the value in the multi axis arms
