EXACTL !!! I lost my driver after covid, I was hitting 275-300, after I was lucky to go 200 or hook it left right !! I put it in the bag and used my 3 hybrid ,220 off the tee is easy and the best I got from that was 283 !!! I now set my driver stance like instructed here , I practiced the drill ,hitting zero balls. just put tees in the ground. Day 6 was Saturday and a tee time early AM .I teed up my ball set my stance and let the driver do the work. Now I didn't go the the range , I Only practice in my back yard just swinging, Seeing the "LOW"point etc, etc ... Anyway now i walk up on the first tee and hit, it carried over 285 yards !!!! Now many drives that day tend to go right so I had to adjust for that and even the few "miss hits" went over 200 !! Now I know why they pulled right I had my wide stance and right foot back but sternum was straight. I'm 64, I picked up the game at 57. I'm athletic 6'4" 215 lbs , So my irons are custom and extra long shaft, I can hit a 7 iron 200, But thank you for this video !! you saved my driver !!! I am crushing the ball ,Now I'm going to put those wild draws on and I have the perfect holes picked out that would work perfect !!! Maybe ill play today !!!

Interesting concept. Can't wait to get on the range and work on focusing on the sternum position. I tend to pull and draw my wedges thru hydrid, usually push fade with fairways and driver. I would bet, from watching this video, that my sternum is pointing ahead of the ball at impact. This concept should help me fix that miss to the left with irons, miss to the right with woods.

I understand keeping the sternum 1 driver head behind ball as long as you can. Does this apply with fairway woods and irons? Thanks
@FredzGolfАй бұрын
Yes, same mechanism ...as the head gets smaller, the sternum won't be as far back ....With a ball tee'd up like a driver, you have more room behind the ball to get the low point and then rise to the ball ...With the ball on the floor, you can't go as far back, so the back of the iron head is good - Experiment with it a bit :)

@FredzGolfАй бұрын
Yes mate 👌 the head is smaller, so won't be as far back 🙃
@MarkG_603Ай бұрын
First time coming across your channel, consider me subscribed after watching this one twice in 2 days. Does this philosophy apply also to irons? I ask because my coach has my chest/shoulder square at impact and that has made a major impact with my ball flight. I now draw or hit dead straight with this change (well, due to several changes, of course). This is simple and love the message. 👍
@FredzGolfАй бұрын
Yes, I'd be more AT the ball with the sternum for irons :) when the ball is on the floor ...you have less room to have an early low point ...I almost think of draw and fade as left cover of the ball and right cover of the ball :) Could help tidy up the focus if the flight starts having a bad day!
@rickcudmore8156Ай бұрын
This make a lot of sense. Where do you place the ball for a draw with reference to the lead heel?
@FredzGolfАй бұрын
Interesting point... Further forward for a high draw and further back for a low draw... Sternum relative to the ball will give more influence on ensuring the draw from there
@BirdieFeverАй бұрын
I try something similar to this, and my face stays consistently open. When I try and swing “hard” I just spin out of it and the path goes outside to in. My normal path is about 3-4 degrees inside, and my club face tends to be about 3-5 degrees open at the same time. I currently cannot hit a real draw with driver (a ball that starts right of the target line and comes right to left across the line), but can with EVERY other club. The best I can do with Driver is 1-3 degrees inside club path with < 1 degree of open face, but they usually start a couple yards left. I can hit my 3+ Callaway Paradym 275-310, and before I broke my driver swing I was hitting 305-340. Now my very best ball with driver will hit 320, but 5/10 will be off the hole. I suspect that when my irons got better this year, that my swing changed, and it somehow boiled over to my driver swing and broke it. I’m wondering if the shaft I have is no longer right for the swing or something. Should I just trash my driver and hit 3 wood? I’m going to try this, but do you have any other suggestions?
@FredzGolfАй бұрын
Interesting you can draw every club apart from the driver, I see this all the time ...largely comes from that extra bit of exertion throwing the sternum in to varying places swing to swing [from my own findings as a coach - this is different for each golfer but the fundamental awareness and control of the sternum is where I build speed from] Lots going on in the info there but I do like to solve puzzles - Yes if your irons have improved and you maintain the same swing with a Driver, often only 2/3 areas of the bag will work at any given time I have a Wedge swing, Iron swing and a Driver swing - They all have the same movements but from a different sternum placement - I'll do a video on this blend as a lot of people will benefit
@BirdieFeverАй бұрын
@@FredzGolf The day after I watched this, I took my 5 iron out of the bag, and put my 3 Wood back in. I shot 75, without using driver, and with a double that had nothing to do with clubs, and everything to do with course condition (muddy, sloshy fairway). I even had a 3W-5W combo Eagle 🦅. If I could hit 50% fairways with Driver I could be pretty good. Another trippy thing is that the 3W is like 10-15 yards shy of driver, and doesn’t go as high as Driver, even though my driver loft is at an 8 degree and the 3W is at 12.5. I don’t know what to make of that. I should also mention that I use JumboMax size Large grips on all clubs. I know this has an auto-blocking tendency, and I’m wondering if my shaft-swing change combo just can’t get the head around with 112+ club speed.
@bashabill1712Ай бұрын
I've subscribed.. Isn't the low point dictated by the left arm and it's extension down to the ball?.. there is a lot of mystery around this topic.
@FredzGolfАй бұрын
@bashabill1712 That's a good topic ...the sternum placement can move that entire mechanism in a good way and a bad way... Left arm can't "dictate" low point if you put the sternum at your left foot, right foot and 8" lower, you'll have 3 completely different low points while the left arm does the same thing 😇 ...I think the sternum a good way to find some control of the left arms action So many layers of discussion for this 🤭🤓😎

Most people who do this will create an in-out path but will then be left with a push or push slice because they are not squaring the club. That will of course lead them back to an out-in swing in an effort to square the clubface. Any tips on how to consistently square the clubface with an in-out swing? That appears to be the missing ingredient for most people.

I draw it so good, that whenever I set up for a draw, I hit a turbo hook. Highest ball speed plus shortest carry. Question #1 when did Johnny Depp get a haircut and pick up golf? #2 do I have to make that little sound as I hit it or after the strike😅
@FredzGolfАй бұрын
1. Ah man... thought my disguise as a golfer was working 2. Yes... You Do have to make that noise hehe... Makes it go further

If you want to hit a draw, keep your head behind the ball.

Nice... I like to watch the back of the ball disappear from my view, stops me getting past the ball too soon :) Helps the sternum and the head behaviour

Oh wow in 2 min you explained why trailing foot back never works for me.

Glad I could clear that up! Makes sense ay :)

Welp.. As the kids say today I must be built different. No matter what I do I slice those balls all day long. I was standing so far to the right my ass was facing the range... Still slicing. Tried a different club.. Still slicing. Going all my weight on the back leg.. Slicing. All my weight on the front.. Slicing. Hitting hard hitting soft.. You get the drill. Nothing works!

Ooh Interesting!! ..Missing link could be the release of the club ...Where the clubhead overtakes the hands and reaches the ball before the grip does ....Hit and imaginary ball 1ft before the actual ball as a drill and see how that goes

Got to try this. I struggle w it. I put my right foot back because I get too over the top w a steep swing
@FredzGolfАй бұрын
Yeah give it a go... get the sternum to match what your doing with the feet :) it will naturally bring that over the top nature back towards neutral
