This has nothing to do with all the other stuff. This is just a film about King Kong that Peter Jackson wanted to make about his childhood favourite King Kong from the early 30s. Youre mixing it up with films from the last 7 years or so. Theres no sequels to this..

Easily one of the best movies ever made. Peter Jackson just finished Lord of the Rings and took all that new visual effects technology plus a huge budget to completely go all out. The movie is nearly 20 years old and still looks flawless. Especially the part where they daze Kong at the cliffs, no shortcuts or anything.

Quick correction the 2005 _King Kong_ film, is not in *ANY* way related to the MonsterVerse films from Legendary, this was a film Peter Jackson wanted to making during the mid-late 1990’s but put it on hold as he was doing _The Lord of the Rings_ Trilogy at the time, and only started working on it in 2001/2002 following his completion with _Lord of the Rings_

I've always felt this movie was a bigger passion project for Peter Jackson than Lord of the Rings. The original classic is what inspired him to become a filmmaker, and he tried making his own King Kong movie when he was a teen with his parent's Super 8 camera.

This was a wonderfully made passion product from Peter Jackson, a genuine tribute to the original story. A story about love, trust, greed, and fear, and a true classic of the Monster Genre from back when the monster was not the entire story. It is an excellent introduction to the monsterverse, despite not having anything to do with the monsterverse, and I am glad the villagers saw this before they say the 2014 version, the fanfic version of this classic.
