I thought there would be a lag in generating all the digits and drift away from actual time in the long run, but the buffer idea is genius.

Why not use a gear system to feed single colour marbles into a run? The output is no longer dual colour meaning you don't have to sort

on average what does the parts cost, i see a printer like this that's 900-900-900 for $1800 us i thinking about getting it but if this is around 500 dollars to do ill do this and give it a try but i just don't see how expensive the parts will be

You should sort out the silver balls. Then your kicker won't trigger every time your belt empties. (When your default is black). And I'd design the kicker as a servo-powered propeller-shaped-thingi that kicks ever 180° rotation. Besides compressed air that's the way the industry solves such tasks.

i was wondering, you already have multilane splitter (bottom part of minute clock elevator), why don't you place two-way splitter just below its end? V-shaped one, with two rows of solenoids opening either side up using sliding metal plates (thus separating marbles by color) and "stopper" holed plate above them sliding in (with either stronger solenoid or two solenoids in anti-parallel push-pull setup) to keep next row of marbles "on hold" while current one splits. Easily scalable (more rows in parallel, faster it goes) and is fairly slim per channel (solenoids are on either side of channel). 2n+1 solenoids (where n=number of "channels").

I loke this kind of vedios and creative people. I like this work very much. But can some one help me understand why not use smaller balls instead of redesigning the whole thing!

Please, my brother, help me get a 3D printer and make something. I like 3D designing and printing, even though I haven't touched a 3D printer with my own hands yet. So please, my brother, change my life. If you will, I have a GoFundMe link.

I'd suggest having a set of marbles in a set of separate columns so each can be sorted in parallel rather than in series like this. It should provide a high enough output without requiring as much speed to achieve it.

What a great build? It’s simple but very functional? I think the first time I’ve watched? Are there crossovers? I will subscribe and watch more? Engineers/programmers? I’m nuts? But really enjoy this stuff? I know you get it? My idea is a simple cnc cutter to make a mold for a foam deck ring? This could be so simple? Great work? Thank you for the ideas and inspiration?

You could use air to blow off the marbles and then you wouldn’t need to worry about retraction

A simple solution for spped would be to "double the machine". Use two chains for grabbing the marbles and two solenoids+sensors for the sorting. You can run the machine on half the speed and get the same results. Yes it will be "bigger" but it will also be more reliable and maybe faster. With three lanes it could be even faster (since you have become a master on printing chains).

Blueberry separation machines work like this, but they use jets of compressed air to do the sorting. Not sure that would work given the weight of the marbles, but it would solve the retract issue.

Pull the marbles out of the bin with a wheel instead of a chain, deposit them on a rail or tube then flick the other end of it left and right sending them to separate bins.

You have 2 ways to create surplus of anything. Create more, at a faster rate than you use it. Or REDUCE DEMAND while production stays the same. YOU DONT NEED SPEED IF YOU ONLY REFRESH THE CHANGING SEGMENTS!!! A standard 7 segment display has lines starting at the top and going clockwise. A b c d e.... and so on. 1 = bc 2=abdeg 3=abcdg Look at the first 3 numbers alone and analyze them.. 1 takes 2 segments (2 marbles) 2 and 3 takes 5 segments (5 marbles)... to count 1,2,3 the way you are currently doing it, you would require 12 black marbles.... now what if you ONLY updated the CHANGING segments? 1 = 2 marbles 2 = 4 marbles (saved 1 because b didnt change) 3 = 1 marble!!! (Because you are only changing C to a black marble, all other black marbles stay the same with exception of E which changes from black to chrome!!!) So in total by refreshing ONLY changing marbles, you reduced your black marble requirement from 12 to 7!!! In the first 3 digits, you reduced your black marble requirement BY 41%!!!! This is a common practice in LCD displays when you dont have a bunch of processsing power or speed and you want a responsive display. Or security cameras do it as well, only updating changing pixles to save storage space. THIS IS YOUR SOLUTION.. JS...

Make a second one to split the sorting 50/50, you could even mirror it so they both don't have to spin so fast, reducing your chances of failure and/or marbles falling off of the tracks.
