This is a natural park 40 km south of Bucharest (Neajlov Delta, Comana Nature Park). It covers only 250 sq. km. Danube Delta Biosphere is around 200 km from here and much larger and precious, it covers 6,000 sq. km

@@Bucharest-qo2vi I would agree about Norway, I found Lofoten to be charming but in terms of biodiversity and just natural, untouched beauty that wasn't influenced by mass-tourism, Danube Delta is just something special. As for France, I assume you're joking LOL There are many amazing places in Europe but that bland french countryside certainly isn't one of them :)))

To go further, I think it's the most special in the entire galaxy.. Coz its Romanian. The re is no other untouched beauty and biodiversity :)) Only in Romania. Galapagos is a small child compared to our Delta.

I have travel a lot, seen a multitude of amazing places with Christchurch and the Banks Peninsula being forever number one in my heart but in Europe as I said the Danube Delta is just something special.

Sarmale are, with some small variations, done the same way everywhere in Romania. The cabbage is pickled in brine, whole, and left for at least a few hours to loose the salt, before the leafs are separated and cleaned of the thicker ribs (so they can be rolled properly). The filling is indeed usually made with minced pork, but not just that. You also add rice (which some substitute with bread soaked in water) and finely chopped onions (some people saute the onions, or at least part of them, before adding them to the mix), you use both fresh and smoked pork, and spices - salt, pepper and, especially North of the Carpathians, paprika. The rolls are usually growing in size as you go from South-East to North-West - but they're the biggest, traditionally, in the Western part of Romania - Banat (literally, one sarma fills a plate there). Twigs of dry thyme and cabbage leafs are used to pad the bottom of an earthen pot, the sarmale are carefully built up so that they fill the pot, but not too tightly, you place leafs of pickled cabbage between layers, and, once the pot is full, after adding a last lid of cabbage leafs and thyme, you add some black pepper grains and pour tomato sauce and white wine until the pot is filled - this washes the black pepper grains into the deeper layers. Somehwere in there you also have to put 2-3 bay leafs. You put the lid on the pot, place it on some heated surface - never directly on open flame - or in the oven, and very slowly let it boil - the bubbling should be barely noticeable, like a tiny bubble every few seconds at most. After some 6-8 hours, the sarmale are ready to serve. (I'm pretty sure the ones you ate, made for tourists, were cooked somewhat faster, though. The very slow cooking adds to the flavor, but I'm sure what you had was also excellent too.) If you get the chance, ask your hosts for sarmale in wine leafs. They're often made with chicken or turkey instead of pork, have a completely different flavor, but are also excellent.

Just go an see the Breb village, the happy cemetery, Mocanita train, the horses waterfall, Barsana monastery, Rohia monastery ( the romanian Athos ), the Viseu valley and more more places to see in just one county.

Nope, the Everglades of Rou is definitely the Danube Delta which is huuuge :D Actually, there are more than one delta in the country. There is one even in Buch, called Văcărești or Bucharest Delta, another one near Iași city, this little one near Comana I had no idea about and maybe more. Btw, Comana has an adventure park and maybe you will try it soon. About the place where u ate, too bad they gave u plastic forks and knives(I hate them) and its strange since they r forbidden for more than a month already troughout the entire EU :O

Dear Chris, they are not plastic forks and knives, they are 100% compostable ones, that are composted on site, alongside the biodegradable and compostable plates, and the compost is given to the local producers of vegetables. We hate plastic as much as you are. We choose to use single use cuttlery and dishes in order to address safety concerns related to the current pandemics, but they are all biodegradable and/or compostable. Thank you for your concern!

Vlad III - the Impaler did not lose his head in one last battle. He was assassinated with a spear thrown at his back by a rival princely family after Vlad destroyed a Turkish army besieging the monastery where children, women, elderly had taken refuge with their fortunes. The body of Vlad the Impaler was beheaded (and apparently cut into pieces) because the Sultan Mehmet II wanted proof of his death. And so it was sent to Istanbul in a jar filled with honey to prevent its decaying. You should try Maramures and Apuseni feelings, some of Moldovia history. There is plenty of stuffs in Romania to visit, is like everywhere you can find new stuffs, wineries should be a part of your visit too. Use repelants for mosquitos ( is quit dangerous now that some mosquitos from Africa actually travel towards Europe - just some advice ( as in south of romania there are sometimes cases of mosquitos attack which carry that african virus part of climate change in world). I like that you adventure to really mark all experiences in Romania, is like insane what you guys do and i believe most of romanians appreciate that. Moldovia(region part of Romania) is a part of history you should experience, we have a strong relationship with Rep.Moldova(a country which in past were Romanian part of, as Bessarabia). There you could see old churches, including visit Iasi( was the old capital of Romania). There is Suceava fortress, National poetry Mihai Eminescu linden tree, Palace of culture Iasi. I am not part of Moldovia , i live close to Maramures and i feel like you have lots of stuffs you could go through and take on the lens.
