Wyomings population will never go up much it never has. Colorado has 5 million and Wyoming has 500 thousand. I promise people struggling there has absolutely nothing to do with that. You can't build huge city's in the mountains that easy. Wyoming doesn't have much of the plains in the state so no huge city's have been built like Colorados city's. Colorado has more plains in the state and that's why those two states population and city's are extremely different even tho they are both similar states it's the fact Wyoming is mostly mountains and Colorado is pretty much half and half. Start there with why Wyomings population is being kept down lol. Educate yourself watch some more videos or something because your statement is practically false. Yes people struggle there but people aren't what makes a states population go up. Residents do and even better city's really do. You need to build for "people" to be residents and build to create city's. Simple stuff and I'm not that educated I'm sure national parks and super volcanoes and other stuff don't help either. We are talking about the least populated state here... Lol people struggling smh ignorant ignorant ignorant or maybe you aren't maybe you are just agreeing with what someone else said without doing any bit of research or thinking at all I'd call that I guess gullible? Idk lol either way let me know when a city starts being built I might move there oh wait no I won't yellow stone scares the shizzle nizzle out of me. Natural disasters scare me lol alot of states I won't move to because of them haha. Not funny tho. God bless America and God bless the planet!!

@@krisedward8447 Wyoming is actually fairly safe from natural disasters. Snowstorms shut things down in the winter, but usually for a short period. Severe thunderstorms, earthquakes, tornados and floods are uncommon, and hurricanes are nonexistent. Forest fires are a problem, but only in the mountains. They rarely encroach on the cities and towns (unlike California). The Yellowstone caldera is low risk. It could blow in the next few years, or maybe not in the next few thousand years.

I don't live in California. But I'm quite able to recognize a narrow mind when I see one. Try broadening yours. In 60+ years, I've seen homeless in dozens of states. The three main reasons San Francisco and the west coast in general have so many homeless are: 1) The Pacific west coast has temperate climate year-round. It very rarely freezes, the rain is generally modest and seasonal, and the Summer heat is mild. Being on a peninsula, San Francisco is especially mild. That makes it much easier to survive outdoors, year-round. 2) It is both good and bad, but the west coast states have far more social programs to aid the homeless. Many homeless flock west, leaving states which are too indifferent to provide social programs to address their own in need. The bad part as it relates to cities like San Francisco, is: "If you build it, they will come". The homeless largely know the programs and sensitivities for the homeless are greater there and as a result, have utterly swamped the available resources. I just Googled for number: Last year, San Francisco alone spent $672 million on the homeless issue. It's in the billions for the Bay Area. My bet is $672 million is more than half of the states spend on the issue. If they only supported those from California, they could readily handle it. But they can't handle the influx (i.e. the 'contamination' as you call it, originating from other states that won't do their part. 3) The west coast states generate a revenue surplus for the feds, making them more capable of providing the programs which other states lack. The last chart I saw ranked California as providing the largest net tax surplus for the federal government, while Kentucky was the largest net recipient of federal subsidies on a per capita basis. I worked for three years in Nashville, starting in 1980. Guess what? They had a homeless problem, even back then. But there were essentially no programs. In three years, I saw homelessness covered only once on the local TV news, and poorly at that. Nashville commonly gets a few weeks of freezing, icy conditions in Winter, and was the case when a reporter stood on a dark street on Christmas eve. She mentioned there were homeless downtown and preceded (with bright camera lights and camera crew in tow) down a dark, trashed alley. She then knocked on a large cardboard box. A person popped out, clearly awakened and squinting in the lights. The reporter asked how it felt to be living on the street. Satisfied after getting an expected response to her exceptionally dumb question, she then walked away. Maybe these days a reporter would at least mention aid groups or solicit viewers to help.

@@gregparrott It is my intention to NOT get in and back and forth in this forum. But there are at least two sides to every issue. When I was a truck driver going over elk mountain on I 80 in a blizzard, which somehow seemed to be a common thing, that dang snow blew sideways. So many midair collisions between the flakes that they became tiny ice balls. I had an older truck and apparently the windshield wipers weren’t that great- at for millions of tiny ice balls bombarding my windows. It was kind of like toothpaste on my windows. The wipers just pushed it around. Was always a nightmare going thru there in winter.

I've been to Wyoming several times to hunt pronghorns and mulies and a great deal of what you said is spot on. I've always felt welcome since I embraced Wyoming for what it is. Your examples remind me of some folks from California who moved to the small town of Corona, NM which is near my uncle's ranch. They tried to adapt their old life style to a ranching community and where on the verge of failing when they finally realized that being part of a ranching community means respecting the community for what it is. This means smart grocery shopping, learning to be self sufficient, supporting community events like FFA and 4-H and being a good neighbor. I believe I'd be fine in Wyoming since I grew up with ranching living and all that it entails. Take care.

A lot less trees, but yeah. Landscapewise, Alaska is definitely closer to Yauktia, but anywhere north of Salt Lake City between Minneapolis and Seattle in the US is very sparsely populated, pretty outdoorsy, very handy do it yourself kind of people. Eastern part of that territory is more farming, while the western part is much more rangeland and has a higher percentage of public land. Largest cities up in this area are around 200,000, but Boise has a metro population of about 3 quarters of a million. They are the outlier.

One additional thing that I would mention: the elevation (especially southeast Wyo). Thin air lacks oxygen and over time it thickens the blood and can cause major health issues if you have circulation or heart problems. I have seen older people come for a visit (especially Laramie 7200ft and Cheyenne 6k ft the highest cities) and have to call an ambulance for altitude sickness or even die because of the elevation. The only other place I can think of that is like that is maybe northern AZ, Flagstaff, etc. and of course Denver. Just something to think about.

Then the following year I had a job in Williams then Flagstaff AZ, I sure missed those leaves when at their altitude.

Though it's not winter the temp this morning driving into work was 42 degrees. Yes. Late May and it's 42. -If you're a social butterfly you won't do well. -Most of the time when a family moves up it's the wife that wants to leave after a year or so. -I have found Wyoming is a lot like small town Texas. Conduct yourself like that and you'll do fine. I blew about 500.00 on a cookout when I got here with brisket beer and all the trimmings. Great video! I love Wyoming, have lived here for about 40 years, and have worked throughout most of the state (I am in health care and travel to fill in when others are ill or on vacation.) We don’t have enough population base here to support some medical specialties, but what is here works well for common problems. If you have significant health issues and want to live in Wyoming, living near Cheyenne is probably your best bet, as it has a reasonably complete range of specialty care and is within 50 miles of an even larger system in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Being near Casper is probably your second choice, although Jackson also has an outstanding hospital and is fairly close to major hospitals in Idaho and Montana. The weather is always an issue, and if the roads are closed and the chopper can’t fly, you aren’t going anywhere. Everything you said about Wyoming is correct; you must be tough, and the weather and terrain can be challenging. There is a saying that Wyoming is what America was, which is so true! Don’t come here if you are offended by people talking about guns (or hunting) and carrying guns. We believe in and support ALL of our constitutional rights, including the Second Amendment. Don’t come here if you came illegally and expect to get “free stuff”; that’s not how it works in Wyoming. We welcome honest, law-abiding, hard-working, self-reliant people, no matter what race, and those who spew “progressive” communist nonsense will have a tough time here. God bless Wyoming; I will never leave!

Keep up the good work. One of are saying has always been turn your clocks back when you enter the state. Something I’d like to add one important thing you didn’t mention is water, if you don’t have water you can’t take care of your animals or your family. Keep up the good work and I’m looking forward to your next video.

As far as healthcare, the veterans administration system is pretty decent. You have to be a veteran to partake in that though. I was on the coast for several years, and I moved back here, because I was born and raised here. It took me a season to get back Into the routine. I’m sure this past winter will run a lot of people off, in Central Wyoming. It was the longest coldest winter on record. I live in Hudson. Some years lately, we might have two weeks of spring, and then it gets really hot. A couple of our Falls lately have been the same. I know I’m not leaving again. I am an outdoor enthusiast, and I went hiking in a roadless wilderness area. Yesterday, I was by myself, and I had a blast. After living on the coast, I decided Wyoming wasn’t so bad, and I would rather put up with the weather, than the politics I was living under. And I do like my space.

My little family of me, my wife, and my one year old daughter moved out to Laramie to go to grad school for three years. I can confirm this all sounds spot on. Unlike a lot of college kids, we stayed on for the whole year, only driving back to see family in Utah for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and maybe one other time. So we were in Laramie most of the year for three years. We liked it. But the cold and the wind are no joke. A “calm” day was like 30mph winds. In the winter people didn’t even shovel their sidewalks because - what’s the point? The wind is just going to blow it all back anyway. It was so cold the snow didn’t melt for weeks. It was this dry sandy stuff that just blows on the wind. You can have winter days on the road between Laramie and Cheyenne where it wasn’t even snowing and you’d still have complete whiteout conditions down on the ground because of wind born snow. Total blizzard-like conditions with blue skies above. Incidentally, that stretch of Interstate between Laramie and Cheyenne is one of the most deadly in the USA. Every year - 60 car pileup events. We started avoiding that stretch entirely between November through March and taking Highway 287 to Fort Collins instead. Oh yeah - Fort Collins… Laramie actually counts as “big city life” by Wyoming standards. It would be considered a “big town” most other places in America. There’s not a lot going on in Laramie, and it has a lot more going on than most places in Wyoming. Honestly, when people in Laramie wanted to actually do something, they’d go to either Cheyenne or Fort Collins across the Colorado border. In the winter, we would often go to Fort Collins just to escape the unrelenting cold. It’s cold in Fort Collins in winter. But it ain’t THAT cold - not compared to Laramie. Expect that major Interstate closures can happen any time from October through April due to snow. We’ve gotten trapped in Sheridan because the road south was impassable. We’ve gotten trapped in Rawlins because the “Rawlins Pass” to the east was impassible (that stretch of I-80 closes multiple times every year). And we got trapped once in Wheatland between Cheyenne and Casper. The roads are a problem. We loved Laramie. Lovely summers in my opinion. Really nice people. Made some good friends. Medicine Bow Mountains are lovely. Big Horns up by Sheridan were great… But after three years we took the hints Wyoming was giving us and moved to the Front Range of Colorado. Still pass through on the way to Utah every year though and I still get nostalgic about it. But you can be nostalgic from a safe distance.

Very cold temperatures (as low as -88 with the windchill), snowmobiling, ice fishing, hunting, outdoor hockey (for us Canadian’s) wood stove fireplaces, home raised chickens, a tonne of wind (windiest province in Canada), bison, cattle, nature, and very few people. Wyoming just one ups us by being the heart of the idea of freedom. In Canada, we live under the Governments thumb at all times. My citizenship is coming, and I would love to move to WY. Originally from Colorado but lived in California for 20 years. Got tired of Cali and moved to Cheyenne 3 years ago. Absolutely love it here. Yes the winds and snow can be challenging, but it's better than 115 degree days in the summer.

I'm a multi-generational Coloradoan, and in my lifetime, I've seen the people moving in to Colorado succeed in changing my state (with the help of the politicians). We used to be a lot like Wyoming, but now we have become a suburb of LA. Wyoming, keep up your lifestyle!

I'm currently in the Marines and I just turned 21 but, still plan on doing my 20 maybe more before I retire. I'm from a small town called Cumberland, MD but I'm looking for someplace quiet, wide, and open. I'm sure I'll see my fair share of big cities during the rest of my time but I'm honestly really tired of all the petty and drama that goes into my hometown and big cities.

As a transplant residing in Wyoming since 2017, I literally live in the HEART of downtown Casper…. And I can confirm EVERYTHING THIS MAN IS SAYING and I am now financially stuck here unable to gain finding employment doing a ton of door to door off job hustling and can’t afford to move AT ALL seriously stuck. And they VERY much resist ANY changes from people ergo moved here. I came from Colorado to escape exactly that and people here saw what happened in Colorado and have really seemed to dig in more. (I say trust with love for the resilient wyomingites) and they really well tell you to just “do better now quit bugging me and slowing me down man up like literally everyone lol I laughed so hard when he said that cuz is that common place… THIS GUY ISN’T EXAGGERATING ONE BIT PEOPLE. And honestly he’s being EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and fair and easy going most people don’t go this easy and relish making no bones about it.

I have lived east of Cheyenne for 30+ years. You are 100% correct about everything in your video. One thing to remember is that if you are going to live in the country, you are on your own in an emergency situation. We are great neighbors but there will be times when nobody will be able to get to you. And don't plan on Dominos delivering pizza when you don't feel like cooking dinner. We can be a bit salty in speech and habit. Learn to grow a thick skin. Don't move out here and think that you can just let your POS city dog run loose. In Wyoming, stray animals are considered pests and we are allowed, by law, to remove them, from our property, any way we see fit. Especially if they are tormenting our livestock. 70% of the population voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020. We work hard. We play hard. We live hard. We die hard. And we wouldn't want it any other way! If you can live up to all that and everything in this video, we'll welcome you with open arms.

I was looking at moving to the red desert. I have visited there several times, love it. Love the land and the people, I could see how the wind would scare people off. I have kind of abandoned the idea just because I'm not much of a business man and as you say jobs are few and far between. I am handy but don't have really any tickets to speak of. I like the seclusion and the outdoors but the employment thing is a killer. My original plan was to link up with a friend of mine in Laramie County and talk to him about how to vote and who to support to keep Wyoming, Wyoming.

Sounds great to me! We’re moving to Cheyenne from the Central Valley in California. The Mrs and I met in Ft Collins in ‘85 and have family all over the area. Retired now for a few months. We’re very familiar with the weather which I consider a bonus as it keeps the riff raff out. The millions of us Reagan conservatives have just had it here. It’s a real shame as this once beautiful state has turned to crap the last 30 years. Cannot wait to make Cheyenne our home and just blend in to the way of life. WE DON’T WANT TO CHANGE ANYTHING!!!

I lived in WY for twenty-nine years, and I loved the cold, but I never got used to the brown. I am an outdoor lover, but I hate the desert. Now living in western Oregon, where it is green. I miss the skiing, but nine months of the year (March to Nov), western Oregon is much nicer, and plenty of outdoor stuff out here.

I so respect the people of Wyoming. You are as tough as nails and I love how you cherish and protect your beloved state. I kive and grew up in southeastern Michigan and our winters can get cold but certainly not to your level. We have the Great Lakes to moderate the temperatures but they also bring humidity. Northern Michigan is beautiful and those folks also have that independent attitude. Michigan's problem is that it is run mostly by liberals and high tax, freedom hating politicians. I'd love to retire to somewhere similar to Wyoming but, being realistic, I don't think I would be strong enough to survive. All the best to you and our great state!
