UFO report. Multiple aircraft report unknown objects over Oregon. Real ATC

I’m an airline pilot and these weird lights in the sky became common a few years ago. They not in any kind of an earth orbit, but everyone tries to call them “starlink”. Every pilot knows what a satellite in orbit looks like and when to expect to see them. It must have been a particularly good show for someone to actually report it to ATC. Usually we just quack about them on guard frequency.

They’re are various visual illusions that come in to play. They’re not super secret military or aliens. They have their nav lights and strobes on for gods sake. The TCAS contact is extremely useful. That puts a positive location on the bogey. It would be useful if someone would draw vectors from all reporting aircraft and see if they coincide at a single point or multiple points (at least in the horizontal plane). Also, is there any record of Portland ANG sending out a pair of F-15C's or the new F-15EX's to have a look? Understood they don't scramble for every UAP report, but this is multiple professional aircraft, some pilots seemingly with prior .mil experience reporting unknowns with positive TCAS contact and exceptional flight dynamics. Or are we still under orders to do nothing, like with the infamous Chinese ISR balloons? Note: can you slightly increase the aircraft labels, perhaps when each is transmitting? They're kinda tiny snd hard to read on a phone. Thanks!

@@craig7350 I don't know if it's broadcasting its position or if the life flight plane could see it on his screen. N661LF is a small single engine 11-seater, so it may only have TCAS I, which I believe will just say "Traffic - Traffic" but won't give the traffic's position or issue alerts about what evasive action to take. The planes in the area that would have TCAS II didn't report any alert, and nothing was picked up on radar seemingly. If it's a military plane I'm glad they were being at least somewhat responsible by keeping TCAS turned on to try and avoid collisions since we've had more than enough of those for a lifetime, or perhaps the pilot was of one of those crafts was supposed to shut it off and forgot to while the rest did. It's a weird occurance.

Pilot reported TCAS unknown traffic at 22 miles so doubt it was first generation. The UAV had some kind of on board transponder

@@kamakaziozzie3038 I’d have to wonder then what was up with ATC not being able to see it. A transponder should make it pop up on one of their screens even if the aircraft itself is of a stealth design, no? There are modern transponders that still aren’t TCAS II capable but I haven no idea what the layout of either aircraft was, I can only speculate. In the last couple of days I’ve now seen airspace getting shut down due to drone activity and the military acknowledging that some of them belong to us which makes sense so at least not as many conspiracy theorists will freak out.

Happens much more often than we know. Many pilots will report these sightings to "company" dispatch or between themselves but feel it best not to go on record with ATC/FAA.

Interesting to hear this after all of the buzz surrounding the NY/NJ area lately. I had no idea there were contacts out there recently. At least one of those has to be military if the TCAS went off, and 50,000 feet is fighter/spy plane territory. I just hope they just stay well clear of the civilian airliners and stop frightening the public. Either have a PR person go up to a podium and tell everybody what you're doing (even if some details need to be kept vague) or go do it some place where you won't alarm everybody. There are tons of remote areas where you won't set off any alarm bells.

Hey I'm just an Oregon artist guy with an overactive imagination thinking about all this. When you wonder what kind of craft can fly like this within the known laws of physics, the answer is none. When you wonder what does look and move like this, there's an obvious known thing. Lasers. What do you do when playing with a laser as a cat toy? Zip back and forth across the room and spin crazy spirals up the wall. Sound familiar? There's been R&D going on for years now on amazing huge military lasers that can shoot up to 500 MW of energy into the sky and shoot down missiles and aircraft. This already exists and are installed on battleships and defense sites all over the world. There are systems that focus multiple invisible infrared beams together on a single target that can be flying at hypersonic speed and still get fried out of the sky. I would think there would also need to be a visible red laser to show where the invisible ones are aimed at many elevations, and a lot of fancy maneuvers and exercises to test how it can all be controlled. So maybe this is all just our own good guys testing laser defense systems from a safe distance off the coast to help develop an iron dome to protect the US from whatever the kooks across the Pacific might shoot at us? Just a happy thought!

These ALWAYS happen near military bases. DoD not willing to tell the states anything about it but claim they are NOT a threat. How would they know that? State legislators reacting as expected: Demanded more stringent laws be passed more tightly regulating air space under 4k feet. Government benefits if scared citizens and legislators basically remove private rights to operate drones. Remember, someone always benefits from these situations.

The picture is not helpful. Could be anything. :/ But from multiple angles the pilots pointed towards the same are, by this alone it was likely not orbital or a planet, this was really in the area. Maybe not all 4 lights were in the area, maybe some were planets still. First I thought maybe lanterns, but the point the Medevac seeing an object on TCAS and then seeing it zooming back and forth in a pattern I think this was likely some military flight. Kind of crazy there was no active TFR.

1w-5w lasers would illuminate very low clouds directly overhead, but with *any* intermediate cloud layers the beam column would be brighter than the painted cloud target. There no polarization, multiple laser interference, or other beamforming technique that could just cause “a 2d or 3D hologram” to materialize at a single location without visible scattering along the path. And swinging around a laser bright enough to illuminate clouds over a range of 20-40 miles, with an apparent magnitude (m) sufficiently visible to be very noticeable by pilots 10-30 miles away… we’re talking 10-100kW source power if at 532nm (nd:yag). 10-100kW is hard-kill laser weapon territory. So unlikely to be ground based and swinging around a sky with all kinds of commercial and private aviation in the area that it’s effectively “nope, not that.” But one more factor: dwell time. Even the most advanced 10 kW laser cooling systems, can sustain a continuous beam for only a few seconds at a time. At 100kW you’re lucky to get 1s of continuous beam before the optics are turned into plasma. So in reality it’s “ definitely not lasers.”

If it was detected by the airports radar... in that case they would know altitude, speed and number of objects. And it would mean it is quite big (unless it has a radar reflector), because small dji style drones would typically not be picked up by airport radar. They also would not fly that high
