Just upgraded my Nakamichi 7.2.4 to the Sonos Arc set up (two Gen 3 subs and two Fives as rear surrounds). Very noticeable improvement in sound quality, over all bass, ease of use, and looks. I was able to place the Subs and rear surrounds in optimal positions being wireless. I had my Nakamichi rear surround and dual subs 1 foot from my couch because I couldn't move the wired surrounds further back and subs closer to the TV. I now have my Sonos subs on either side of the soundbar 17-18 feet from the couch and the Fives 9-12 feet behind the couch in the rear for a more immersive sound.

@jacobcarstens216021 күн бұрын
Did you get Alexa to work. I didn't and Sonos support refered me to Amazon support. They apparently do not sell a compatible soundbar. But anyway I would not add Alexa due to privacy after thinking about it.

You mention setup connected via router for the many streaming channels, BUT I have freesat and dvd player connected by HDMI cables to the tv, so how do these connect to the Arc or will they not work.

Just purchased an Arc to replace my Play Bar. My existing system has a large bass and (2) Play 3's. My question is are the (2) Play 3's good to use or are the 1SL a better choice?
@youjustboughta Жыл бұрын
The Play 3s should work well with the Arc.

Does your TV have eArc or Arc? You might not get Atmos or spatial audio if you only have Arc or optical connection with your TV. Arc connection will only give you Dolby 5.1.The Arc or Beam Gen 2, Sonos sub (Mini or Gen 3 sub), and Era 300 is the set up to maximize Atmos and spatial audio with an eArc connection from newer TVs.

Hi everyone! I have a couple of questions. I’m providing this system (arc+sub+one SL pair) in a house I’m renting by the week. Since I’m not there with the setup app, I need to know how often does the soundbar need the app after the initial setup. 1. Is this a one-time setup and you can just enjoy it, without ever needing the app again? Or do the components unpair sometimes and you need to go through setup again? 2. Does it always turn on with the Tv? I suppose you can just use the tv remote for sound volume and need nothing else? Thank you
@mrgold3591 Жыл бұрын
You will need the app and wifi for the initial set up process, I.O.S. device if you want to do room TruePlay tuning, and the app if you want to adjust any of the soundbar settings (audio height, bass/treble/sub levels, ambient or full rear surrounds for music, grouping additional speakers, internet/WiFi music, troubleshooting any issues with Sonos, etc...). I had an old iPhone 6S+ collecting dust in a junk drawer I repurposed as the Sonos remote in my main TV room if my iPhone 13 Pro Max or iPad 11 isn't in arms reach. The theater group (Arc, sub, & One SLs) will stay grouped together and won't change unless you want to update the speakers (ungroup One SLs and re-group new Era 100/300 or add additional Gen 3 Sub). The Sonos systems are always on for faster start up time. They go into a sleep mode when the TV is off; but, start up in about the same time as it takes for the TV to start playing. I probably just turn on the TV and adjust the volume levels only 95% of the time. I use the app when I need to make slight adjustments to sound levels of the show I'm watching, grouping more speakers for whole house audio, or selecting internet/wifi music.

@youjustboughta Жыл бұрын
@davidcarroll7193 Is it just the Arc that you can't select? Or did all your speakers disappear from the System tab? If it's just the Arc, try doing a reset on the speaker by unplugging it from its power source, then hold down the Join button and plug it back in and continue to hold the Join button until the LED flashes orange and white. When the process is done it will start to flash green.

@davidcarroll7193 If nothing is showing up then you may need to reset the Sonos app. To do this, tap the Settings tab, then tap App Preferences. Go to the bottom of the App Preferences menu and tap Reset App. Then close and reopen the app. Hopefully this gets you back up and running.

Good video. What do you do though if you have multiple devices? I have a traditional receiver in my current setup which has multiple HDMI inputs and then a single output to the TV. How can you accommodate this with the Sonos Arc - do you have to buy an HDMI splitter box?
@youjustboughta Жыл бұрын
@skynetintex5878 The Sonos Arc, as well as any soundbar, is really designed to replace a receiver. In your situation, you'd basically be using the receiver as a switcher. You can run all your sources into the receiver, then run an HDMI from the receivers HDMI Out to one of the TVs HDMI inputs (not the one labeled ARC*). Then run another from the TV's HDMI ARC* to the Sonos Arc's HDMI port. This way your receiver will feed the signals from your different sources to the TV, and the TV will then send the audio to the Sonos Arc. *ARC = Audio Return Channel
@mrgold3591 Жыл бұрын
Are you adding the Arc and still want to use the receiver with wired speakers/sub? I have a newer LG OLED with eArc (to the Sonos Arc) and 3 other TV HDMI inputs are for everything else (Blu-ray player, Playstation, etc...). I need the eArc connection to get Atmos out to the Sonos soundbar.

Got the Arc, and followed the setup. Sound pretty much the same as tv speakers and doesn't go louder than tv either. I still have problem hearing dialogue. Sonos forums just says "they limited volume in last update" and suggest I buy more Sonos speakers if I want the effect Arc promised. Wth. This feels like a scam or scientology.

I concur that was my experience with Sonos arc and gen 3 sub.
@mrgold35914 ай бұрын
I haven't had this issue with my Beam Gen 1, Beam Gen 2, or Arc all connected to LG OLEDs (55C9, 55C1, 77C1). I do have the TVs set to Bitstream or Digital Sound Output set to Pass Through so the soundbar does the processing instead of the TV (don't use the PCM setting). Sometimes the PCM sends the signal in a 2.1 format and that might be the reason for low dialogue because of PCM missing the other channels for 5.1/Atmos.

Sonos arc is not worth the cost or time to purchase and test for a consumer. It has bad dialogue clarity the volume is not good. The Sonos is weak literally I had to set it at 50% to hear dialogue. It lacks voice clarity so it caused spikes in sound output in action scenes. For roughly $1,500 to buy an arc and gen 3 sub the equipment should not have a volume problem. The app was easy to use but limited in eq and audio controls. I returned it after a few days and purchased a Bose 900 paired with a 700 subwoofer which outperforms in every way that I was disappointed with Sonos. Although the Bose setup is not expandable as easily the Bose setup just performs better at low volume and higher volume range.
