I have the first gen 30L for about 2.5 years and it still looks brand new! I don't have any scuff marks on the bottom zippers, but it can be that it is slightly different on the first gen... I use mine as a everyday carry alone, not as a photobackpack and it works great for my usages! Love it!

I have the version 1 for a few years now.. used it mostly as a diaper changing bag (change of clothes for 2 toddlers, a foldable toilet, 2-4 diapers, pack of butter wipes, snacks and beverages.. also 2x 10" tablets, mid size battery bank, small tech pouch, some coloring pads and crayons.. sharpie, pen, small flashlight, note pad, bandages, hand sanitizer, Sony a6000 with 18-70mm lens, extra batteries.. also used the straps to hold my jacket.. as well as 2 children's jackets.. rolled up either under the backpack or on the front. Did I also mention it still looks brand new.. and that's using mainly as a diaper bag. A very versatile bag indeed.

What I really like is that you almost every time (as I haven't seen every single video :D) fill the bag with the same everyday stuff - so it's way easier to relate and think about how it would fit in my personal stuff! Great content :)

Bo Ismono I recycle ones I don’t use. Currently I use the Peak Design for carry on travel, swap between a Thule and a Tenba for camera bags and use the MOW and a Tumi as my laptop bag depending on where I’m going. Also have a nice fold up daypack but the name escapes me. Cleared out about a dozen earlier in the year- National Geographic, Manfrotto, Osprey, Maxpedition etc. Friends are always happy to receive

Love my V1 20L in ash, it looks like an art piece even though I would say it's a so so bag for camera gear and I have the matching 5L Sling. I actually put the bag up for sale the other day but then I was looking at it and realized how much I loved how it looked so I canceled the sale.

If what the 30L for a few years now and have been super rough with it, but every detail still functions like day 1. I bought it to be my camera bag for 5 years, it’s taken over as my everyday bag and I now expect it to last 10. I would also remind of PD’s incredible warranty. They really do stand behind their stuff.

I have 3 bags from peak design. 20l v1, 30l v1, 5l sling v1. My 30l has a damaged back padding because i used to use to extensively for 2 years. My 1 year old v1 20l is holding up pretty well. I might say that this backpack is all i need. If only it has a comfortable straps.

What is the color version of this bag?
@garrettbredell13144 жыл бұрын
I've had the V1 30L since the Kickstarter and really put it through its paces. So far, so good. The magnetic latch on the main compartment has become very scuffed but still functional. Zippers are fine. The only break down so far is the bottom of the mesh padding on the back is starting to tear and rub away, since that is where there is the most friction while walking and particularly while riding a bike.

I have this bag, but prefer the Everyday backpack 45L as I can insert whatever camera cube I want. I have a few different cameras and this idea works well. The Boundry Supply stuff is similar. As for weight and adventure photography, the Shimoda line can't be beat. As for sexy bags, Vinta takes the crown. As for shear durability, nothing beats Cinebags.

I backed the original Kickstarter campaign for a 30 L bag so I guess I have a day one or as close to day one model. The zippers look and feel great so maybe cheese-grating the bottom of the bag against cement is what caused the wear : )

I don’t have much experience with Peak Design bags. I do have some of their packing cubes, which are my absolute favorite packing cubes. I used to have one of Peak Design tech pouches. It was an amazing item. Incredible materials and build quality. But just absolutely humongous. I will never have enough stuff to fill it. Sold it off on eBay. I played around with one of their travel backpacks at their store when I was in San Francisco for work a few years ago. Great bag. A bit too big for my needs though.

Thanks, Nathan. I started testing the tech pouch as well. I agree: It is huge and quite bulky. But all of the organization is pretty cool.

I didn't like the peak design personally and returned it. No matter what I did the angular straps kept digging into my shoulders. I also got easily annoyed at the latch system which was constantly finicky and was not happy that I couldn't secure it letting anyone into my camera bag walking behind me. I spent ages looking for the perfect camera bag and closest I have found is the WNDRD duo which is a beast for a street photography and edc bag.

There are a lot of things that I like about this pack - the laptop storage, side handles, etc. Yet, I have to say it’s my least favourite camera backpack - I just can’t deal with the side only loading. Over time it gets super frustrating to be dogging into the bag from one side or the other. The dividers, also, were too loose fitting for my gear (Canon 5d mk4) and everything kept rolling around inside. Now I have a protactic 350 and incase dslr pro pack (for camera gear.

The side opening has a double zipper, so you can close it at the top
@venom58094 жыл бұрын
Yep, the trick is to lock the bottom zippers in and never ever look at them again and then just use the top zippers to open and close the bag.
@quangpham43724 жыл бұрын
Actually I used to lock the top zipper and close it with the bottom zipper at the top, so that none of those two touches the ground when the bag is closed

I loved the v1 version and it looked new after 3 years. but i got a little tired of moving the dividers around and sold it for an Evergoods CPL24 which is a better all around bag (but not a camera bag).
@Youknowthebo4 жыл бұрын
True. It's basically better suited to leave the dividers in for a "static" setup. Which also means that it wont be that flexible in day to day use if you might go grocery shopping after work for instance.

Great idea for a podcast. I might just join your Patreon just for that episode! The EDC and bag community certainly is rather male-dominated unless you get into the kinda impractical world of purses and handbags. I guess we can all give a thumbs up to the androgynous tote though :) I'm trying to bring a practical-yet-female perspective on my channel and blog, but I just don't have the time to produce the content. Really admire you for keeping this channel going as well as having a "real job".

this vs. Wandrd Prvke
@venom58094 жыл бұрын
The Prvke really isn't up to the level of quality as the Peak Design is, I think it's too much money. I love my Peak but I also have a Manfrotto NX CSC backpack which I love too and it cost next to nothing.
@pocketarian4 жыл бұрын
I still hear that in my head as perverkey. Thanks Chase Reeves.
@Youknowthebo4 жыл бұрын
Good question. The build quality of the peak design is slightly better. However, I feel like the Wandrd is more versatile if you want to use it on a regular day to day basis. For instance if you want to go grocery shopping after work, the Wandrd is much more adaptable.

This is not a good camera bag, lenses move inside freely and there's no way to avoid this without buying some sort of extra pouches. It's a great bag for everything else, just not for camera gear.

Side flaps open towards the body, which is completely counter intuitive - you have to reach over the open flap, quite awkwardly. Stupid!
