I felt he was a miserable character in seasons 5 and 6, but admirable and rational in seasons 1-3. They turned him into a zealot of some vague sense of destiny, who basically killed juliet and tried to nuke and kill hundreds of people, giving them no agency in their own life. I don't know why you get points for putting your own nebulous "destiny" above all. They ruined Jack and sayed

That's ultimately the problem with Lost. It put an inflated sense of destiny as the ultimate personal achievement. He didn't go to the island to "save" anyone. Juliet, miles, sawyer were happy there. Nobody other than Eloise, Ben and Locke - - three murderers - - wanted him to go back. And by going back nearly every innocent on the plane died. Jack was a selfish person by the end. And lost his best asset: critical thinking. But lost writers viewed critical thinking as a liability for some reason

@@michaelcorcoran8768 Jack was selfish from the beginning. -He got angry at anything and anyone who said anything about faith and destiny. -He pointed a gun at Desmond for "daring" to believe in a button. -He ignored Kate and told her to "stay put" even when she was able to use her tracking skills to help the group. -He overruled the entire plane crash survivors to protect Juliet who was seen as one of the Others at that point. -He was happy to let himself get off the island for doing surgery on Ben while everyone else stayed there-until John blew up the submarine. So that nonsense you're trying to push about Jack being rational is a myth made up by casual Lost fans.

@@michaelcorcoran8768 At the start of the show Jack was unable to believe in the existence of anything he couldn't see with his own eyes (despite this making no sense even in his own life, given how he miraculously fixed his wife after her accident). He was in complete denial about there being even a teeny tiny possibility that there might be more to the universe than rational scientific fact. He got really angry if anyone even suggested this possibility. He was consistently stubborn and short-sighted (not to mention supremely irritating). So it's not surprising that when he started to believe in the 'leap of faith' side of things, he initially did so in the way that he did (because whatever 'stance' Jack takes in life, he will ram down people's throats). I think his 'inflated sense of destiny' is actually very well written...it manages to convey how his thinking has changed, while still retaining the essence of his character. However, by the end of the show, Jack is a humble, more open human being who finally understands that there are more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in our philosophy. I'm not really a fan of Jack, overall, but I think his character arc is one of the very best in the show.

I wonder why he's still asking her questions when her answers are : - I don't know - I don't get it - Whatever - I don't understand this show - Maybe - Who cares - Maybe not - How would I know - Stop asking me questions And so on. I don't think this reaction series is going to end well. Instead of asking the Mrs.questions that focus on the logic of the plot, i.e. "What do you think this person is going to do?" or "Do you think this person is going to do X?", maybe you should ask her questions that focus on the emotional connections between the characters, i.e. "Who are your favorite characters at this point?" or "How do you feel about this character's development?" If the Mrs. is not emotionally invested in the characters by now -and she seems pretty resistant to the show in general- then she is not going to get the finale at all. It's feeling like this journey is going to crash and burn.

Now that we know that Flash Sideways Sawyer lied to Miles about being in Palm Springs, the reason for Sawyer letting Kate go at the airport can be deduced. If Sawyer apprehended Kate at the airport, his name would be listed on the police report as an assisting officer, thereby blowing his lie that he was in Palm Springs. Palm Springs is a two hour drive from Los Angeles and nobody flies to Palm Springs from LA, so he would have no reason to be at the airport.

Yeah, but there´s one thing I don´t understand about that in this sideways plot! I´m just not sure, if it was mentioned already, so that´s why I´m gonna post the rest about my problem a bit way down below. So, beware of SPOILERS!! Why did he even look for Anthony Cooper in this "timeline"?? We learn that the "Anthony Cooper" we´re familiar with was in a plane crash with Locke, right? He´s supposed to be a good guy in this plot, right? And he´s a vegetable. So what, are we supposed to believe that he still conned Sawyer´s mom in the past or was that a completely different guy this time? Idk, I feel this plot line confuses me a little bit, when you know the whole picture. I never even really thought that much about it until just now, but it kinda doesn´t make sense.....

All will be explained by the end of it...except one thing Who was in the other outrigger shooting at Sawyer and the others on that brief time flash. Carlton Kuse and Damon Lindeloff have said that they will never reveal that answer and it isn't revealed, even vaguely during the show.

@@chanceneck8072 because.....spoilers ahead..... Anthony Cooper is still a con man that conned James Ford's parents. That did not change, but it did inspire James to pursue a career in law enforcement so that he could bring Cooper to justice. But, because this is a flash sideways, which affects primarily, the crash survivors, Cooper's relationship with his son is good and he never conned him out of a kidney and didn't push him out of the window. John's paralysis was caused by the small private plane crash that also left Cooper a vegetable.

For the very least we can say that it's highly confusing that John Locke would bond so much with a man, who's actually (or at least used to be) a con man. It doesn't make much sense. But that's sort of the nature if the sideways, isn't it? As I said, it could also totally be that in this - let me call it "reality", the actual con man who conned Sawyer's parents is a completely different person. But we can't definitively say either. I mean, we don't even know for sure, that Locke even still has both of his kidneys in the sideways or can we? 🤷‍♂️ I know, that's also not quite what it's even about. I'm just saying. The connections between Locke, Mr. Cooper and Sawyer are a little confusing in the sideways. That's all.....

Season 6 is the best season on rewatches. I hated it on first watch because it was ending and I hate endings. But season 6, 1, 2, 4, 5 , 3 in that order personally. Season 3 for first half was absolutely tedious on first watch and on rewatch. It picked up a bit half way through but not enough to really save it. The whole hydra island arc was absolutely boring with Jack, Sawyer and Kate. God knows what they were thinking with all that rubbish,, but then Locke went a bit tedious wanting answers as well,, his character went back interesting in season 4.

Me either. First off, I didn't buy it. Secondly, if it was an alternate timeline, the characters we loved or loved to hate lost all the growth we saw throughout five seasons. I mean, Jack turned into a believer, but in the FS, he was back to old Jack. Besides, it's like what Jacob says in the penultimate episode, "What They Died For" (WARNING SPOILERS BELOW)... ... they needed the Island as much as the Island needed them. They were broken individuals, and the Island - whether they wanted to believe it or not - fixed them, changed them. Made them all better people, and gave them true purpose in life. Still annoyed that Kate still rejected the Island's speciallness, its purpose and necessity, and its need to be protected.

No it isn't. It's arguably the weakest season of LOST and I certainly think it has many flaws, but it's far from "terrible." But this particular channel's reactions to it certainly make it seem like it's the worst thing ever. Go watch Neil Talks or The Normies and see how emotionally involved they are in season 6. In fact, go watch pretty much any other channel that has already reacted to or is currently reacting to season 6. This channel is such an outlier.
