Coven is considered one one of the better seasons of AHS; a lot consider it the best season of the series. The cast is iconic, the lore is so interesting, and the horror+humor makes it fun to watch.

Once we’re 1/3 of the way through Freak Show, I think we’re pretty much done with prime AHS and we’re into “hit and miss but mostly miss” territory lol Also I guess this is a hot take but I’d rather be tortured to death than be locked in a box conscious for a century

Such a fun season. Not the best imo, but really enjoyable and a fun ride. I also love that this season is filmed entirely on location in New Orleans. Lange and Bates both won Emmys for this season. At this point in the season, Fiona is my favorite witch, but I also love Marie Laveau.

The power has been shown across other pieces of tv-shows. It's official term is called "empathic masochism". The spitting allows Fiona to control their memory longterm. If she used regular mind control, they'd just go back/know for sure something was up since it's short-term and in certain instances the mind controlled victim is aware of what's going on they just can't do anything in the moment.

IIRC I read that Kathy Bates' character who was based on a real person in real life she was SOOO evil to her slaves that "polite" society shunned her and eventually she moved out of town. I don't think anybody knows what happened to her after that. Makes it easy to fantasize that she was made immortal and buried by Marie Levous so that this story line could happen. Reminds me of how they mix real history with ghost stories at Colonial Williamsburg.
