I love Carla Gugino’s acting in the scene with Tammy & her husband, she goes from the Candy character to an almost perfect impersonation of Tammy & the cadence & intonation is so similar to Samantha Sloyan who plays Tammy. I mean she’s excellent in all her scenes but I especially love that one, like a switch flips & she is Tammy as played by Samantha.

The name tag on Verna's security uniform, "Le Bon", is a clever reference to Adolphe Le Bon, who is a witness the police arrests unfairily for the crimes on "The murders in the Rue Morgue" short story by Edgar Allan Poe. Camille L'espanaye is also the name of one of the victms on the tale.

She is not The Devil or The Death as we like to imagine in our modern western view of these things. She is more primodial and her views on morality and right and wrong do not really match our own.

Its interesting to see that the kids become what they are because of his father and aunt. They feel their emptyness with addictions and seeking for attention. Its clear that once their father gives a little attention to brother or sister, they become jealous. Some are worst then others. Till now, Leo seems the better one, sure he cheats on his partner...

Later on it gets clearer why Tamerlane pays to watch others having a normal day and opening up about her problems with her husband while pretending to be her and why he looks that miserable throughout (though the last part is quite understandable).

This episode sets up 2 more of Poe's classic stories (3 total, but Berenice isn't actually a classic...) and adapts The Murders in the Rue Morgue (here, RUE is an abbreviation for Roderick Usher Experimental, which has a morgue there's a murder in, the original story is a classic detective story--one of the first--in which C. Auguste Dupin investigates a spate of murders on Morgue Street--"rue" being french for street. In the story, the murders are done by an escaped orangutan, here it's by an escaped chimp).

Tamerlane's intimacy issues are deep, and I truly think it's an inability to open up to anyone at all, even herself. So using another to stand in as herself allows her to loosen up without opening up. Does that make sense?

I don't think she is the devil, my first thought was that she was some form of goddess from some ancient religion. Possibly a God of death, a harbinger of life or maybe a goddess of deals or pacts. I definitely want to say some kind of Egyptian goddess based on all of the Egyptian artifacts that Madison and Roderick seem to collect.
