The actress playing Lenore, Rodrick's granddaughter, is actually Kyliegh Curran! She was in Doctor Sleep - another Flannigan movie. The actress in Midnight Mass is Annarah Cymone.

Interesting fact - Bruce Greenwood (Roderick Usher) was a last minute replacement for Frank Langella.... really makes Greenwood's performance all the more remarkable... couldn't imagine anyone else!

I sat watching the screen in stunned silence at the end of episode 2, as the credits rolled with no music. I recovered eventually to watch the whole series. It's excellent to the end.

The wife, Juno, is played by Ruth Codd who was in the other Flanagan show you didn't mention, The Midnight Club. You should give it a watch as well. Teenage Madeline was played by the actress that played young Shirley in Hill House.

Hey guys! I've already watched the whole series, & now I enjoy watching KZbin reactors react to the series.😊 The girl that plays Roderick's granddaughter Lenore is not from MIDNIGHT MASS, however the one playing her mother is from MIDNIGHT MASS. The girl is from DOCTOR SLEEP. U know, Abra w/the mega-shine.😊 Lenore is my favorite Usher. I recently watched an interview w/Carla Gugino where she talks about her character Verna which is an anagram for Raven. Flanagan had told her that Verna was more like Fate/Karma more than a devil. Each episode will be an adaptation of a Poe story, but w/that special Mike Flanagan twist.😊 Anyway, hope u guys enjoy the rest of the series, & I will be tuning into your reactions as they hit KZbin.👍

To avoid any confusion, in Poe’s story the raven symbolizes consequence which links the raven to death (death itself can be a consequence) in this version of Poe’s story the deeper the consequence the worse the death he didn’t sell his soul or make a deal with the “devil” he signed a verbal contract with the raven and he could’ve said no 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hope this helps can’t wait for you guys to finish watching!

27:49 - its maybe better, in some ways, to go into this without a full knowledge of Poe's works... while it's still fun either way, if you've read most of his work, the episode titles give away a lot.

People tend to miss The Midnight Club for some reason, I think it was a really nice show, fun and creepy stories. Sadly didn’t get renewed for another season but it’s worth the watch.

The granddaughter is the actress of Abra from Doctor Sleep I love that actress because she has shown that she can act in so many things though she has mostly chosen to stay in the horror and sci fi genere mostly. She has a tv show that has only two seasons sadly called Secrets of Sulpher Springs which I personally enjoyed very much. I love this show so much and it's nice to see a lot of the actors returning here as always and Carla does an amazing job as Verna as well.

There's a mirror, or part of a specific mirror that shows up in nearly every one of Flanagan's works. I remember spotting the headboard of the bed in Gerald's Game, and then noticing the pattern around a mirror in the background of either Bly or Hill House.

There's a LOT of Poe adapted in this miniseries. In fact, at least one story or poem of Poe's is adapted per episode. Aside from The Fall of the House of Usher, the first episode includes a very loose adaptation of Berenice, I believe. Almost all, if not all, characters are named after someone from a Poe work. Perhaps the most odd (or interesting) is Mark Hamill's character Arthur Pym, named for the titular protagonist and narrator of The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket, which tells of a global expedition to the South Pole (which was almost completely unexplored at the time of publication) slowly but increasingly becoming odder and more surreal until the final few chapters, which becomes an early example of Cosmic Horror (there's actually plenty of regular non-supernatural and even some supernatural horror in the rest of the story, the final chapters almost read like the writings of a madman and go beyond anything else from the time). Some might take the inclusion of a character named after Arthur Gordon Pym as some foreshadowing about the miniseries. One exception to the "Named after an Edgar Allen Poe character," however, is the Usher's mother, Eliza. She's named after Poe's own mother.

One of the best Mike Flanagen with Hill house and Midnight Mass, i was scared that you would not watch it , it's terrific and not as scary as Hill house at all , it's more of a drama ... I really wish you could watch Yellowjackets Season 1 and 2 you guys, I'm sure both of you would love it, it's not horror, but more Mystery/drama with 2 Timelines and both the young and older cast is really fantastic . and it's even fun sometimes like house of Usher can be too .

❤❤ She is not the devil, she's not even evil. Verna is an anagram for Raven. She is the Raven. She is the executor of fate or the executor of karma. Verna is a shape shifter. She manifests to each person at the moment before their death as they can see her. Verna is offering each of these people the most honest conversation they will ever have in their lives. People with a lot of privilege and power have the opportunity to do good things or to do bad things. She gives them the opportunity to do good. She sees you from the inside as well.

that's because Roderick was supposed to be played by Frank Langella, until he got fired for alleged misappropriate behavior, so they casted Bruce Greenwood and reshoot his scenes. Zach Gilford does look like a younger Langella.
