Young Artist With Autism Speaks Through His Paintings

Dominic Killiany speaks through his paintings. His pieces are full of vibrant colors and symmetry. WBZ-TV's Mike LaCrosse reports.

I'm a left-handed artist with Autism. I love to paint and draw, especially drawing The Lion King characters. I sing, too. I'd be considered "high-functioning" on the Autism Spectrum. I prefer to be referred to as "Person with Autism" over "Autistic person". I'm verbal, I have hearing loss. Just like with anything else, not all people with Autism are the same. We don't all have issues with loud noises or touch. I love touch. I love handshakes and hugs (Hard to do right now because of COVID-19 and Social Distancing).

As someone with Asperger’s syndrome I have gotten better with loud environments over the years. I just turned 20 this past January. The one thing I will always hate is fireworks. I can’t stand them. Too freaking loud.
