Young Eagle Visits Surrey Reserve

January 3 2025, 12:23 pm - we had a young visitor at our Surrey Reserve bald eagle cam nest today! I'm not an expert at ages of young eagles, but my guess is this one is less than a year old. The youngster arrived at the nest at about 12:18, and I noticed and was able to log in for a closer look a few minutes later. The video is from both cams, and is a bit choppy as I was zooming a bit while recording - mostly trying to get a good look at the handsome visitor. The youngster flew off rapidly at 12:33 - I suspect she or maybe he saw an adult in the distance, and has learned they generally don't welcome visitors. The youngster did find some scraps, so I think the visit was worthwhile from their perspective. I think the younger eagles do know that nests often have food left in them - and know to leave in a hurry if they see a resident adult coming! :) ~JudyB
