Young European royals gather for prince Christian's 18th birthday gala

The Danish hereditary prince Christian celebrated his 18th birthday, Queen Margrethe, his grandmother, went the extra mile and organized a grand gala. Princess Amalia, Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Princess Estelle of Sweden and Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway, colleagues from the royal waiting room, were also there.

Prachtig en stijlvol, statig en een charismatische mooie zelfbewuste intelligente vriendelijke aanstaande Koningin. Mooi en toch jeugdig kapsel. @@sytskebierma255not every royal house is loaded with money. Certainly not the Danish royal house. They aren’t poor, but they aren’t billionaires or even multimillionaires. The money they get from the government is decided by the Danish parliament. The amount is public knowledge. It is used to pay for staff, upkeep of palaces used by the royal family, but owned by the government, for international travel when representing Denmark and for some of the things when there is a state visit. A President would not be cheaper, but a lot more boring. The Queen is our Head of State, affectionally referred to as “our Mom”. She is above the fray of party politics and represents all Danes and permanent residents.

The British Royals are not exactly known for participating in events of other royal houses, and rumors have it they have previously looked with some disdain on their “poorer Nordic cousins”. At big events such as weddings they usually only send minor royals as participants.

Usually yes. I would not expect UK to send George (and certainly not alone) to these kinds of events. But there were at least six people there, who were under the age of 18. Prince Christians three siblings, all under 18, his younger cousins, also under 15, and Princess Estelle of Sweden, aged 11, all participated in the event as well. So this was just pure snobbery from the brits. Spain I can understand, as it was a youth party, and Leonor is in military training.
