This movie...this cast...this script...this screenplay...this lighting...this production...this musical score...this acting...? RIP Peter Boyle, Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Marty Feldman, and Gene Wilder...you are all in my memories as being part of one of the greatest comedies in the history of cinema. And to you Mel Brooks, at 96 years young? May you live long and enjoy your accomplishments! Halloween is coming soon and I'll be ready for my tradition of watching the original 'Frankenstein', 'The Bride of Frankenstein', 'The Son of Frankenstein, and finally 'Young Frankenstein' in the coming days ahead.

Sometimes friends & I just had to say a word or a line & we'd bust a gut. Incomparable show, cast,"characters", just amazing! Can't find enough words to describe it.( I never watch the original....I'm still too afraid just of the Creature's face that I jump & turn away from it)

I just saw Clark Gable doing a Puttin On The Ritz song and dance scene. It looks like the inspiration for the debonair monster song and dance scene.

I grew up with this movie (born 1987) and it was as dark as it was funny even as a kid. As an adult now i understand the second half of the humor, and horror

It makes me crazy that nobody mentions that Marty Feldman was one of the original Python comedy troupe.
@SuperHammaren2 жыл бұрын
No, but the Pythons (Palin and Jones) wrote for him before they (with John and the rest) formed their own group. He (Marty) was with Cleese and Chapman in "At last, the 1948's show". See the full story in :kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3iVd42crNyFhJI. He would have been marvelous in the group though. But he went to Hollywood instead.

The one and only flaw I saw in YF is the scene where the monster is climbing the wall to the music, and the line from Peter's skullcap is momentarily visible.

I remember some people who were turned off by that Part in the beginning of the movie when June Wilder was demonstrating to his class about the Central nervous system and was abusing that old man and they never watch it past that part....

"Young Frankenstein" didn't diminish Mary Shelley's story or Boris Karloff's rendition at all. The best impersonators always love the subject of their impersonation at some level. P.S. That includes Jamie Foxx's impersonation of Trump.

Ironically, the original Universal Frankenstein films themselves went the comedy route-Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein-even though that wasn't a parody but a horror film with a sharp sense of humour. An American Werewolf In London was the same way: a straight horror film but with a strong sense of humour.

Note Mel Brooks starting at at 13:47. Mel's talking about the negative effects of the specialization of medicine. Were we able to vote for surgeon general, I would have voted for Mel Brooks over Biden's pick, Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA, any day of the week.
