This is, WITHOUT A DOUGHT, the BEST intro anyone ever made. Music-Awesome and fits perfect! Close up's-Amazing!!! It just all adds up to PERFECT INTRO!! Plus I'm a fan of the 80's and Charlie and Emilio. :)

that first shot of emilio looking up just as the music kicks inn is pure perfection!!!

The fact that they got the whirlwind effect ('reap the whirlwind, Murphy') at the beginning with them fading in from the dust to get the party started before the guitars kick in is just chef's kiss.

When I was younger, and first saw this.. I literally cried.. I can't fully recall why, but I just remember the devotion in all of their eyes, they all truely believed they were the characters they were potraying.. And the way the director took the time too give them all screen time, right at the start, with their names in big letters.. It's so amazing, all perfect.. And certainly something that we NEVER see in American cinema today.. let alone Australian.. This movie will always be incredible.

For a budget of 11 million, Christopher Cain (That's Superman's real life dad to some people), they created movie magic. And, as an added bonus, in 1990, a historian said this was pretty much historically accurate next to Chisum (1970) of the Lincoln Country War in 1990. This film could be citable as a source depending on the rest of your history homework, kids! (Always make sure you have more than one source - don't just settle for one. T_T)

This intro is so badass for its time. RockStar should've featured it in Red Dead Redemption 2

For it's time?! For ALL TIME! There's a documentary about it but Young Guns SAVED the Western genre (people were thinking Western's were dead) but Young Guns (1988) was a massive hit on a small budget. A lot of film historians don't give Young Guns the credit because they think it was some MTV-cowboy-fantasy (it wasn't - a historian in 1990 said compared to most films it was pretty much bang on history wise regarding the Lincoln War) but, if it weren't for Young Guns, we would have never got Tombstone with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer or Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood or Dances with Wolves with Kevin Costner.

Forgive me for asking, but why does the guy who plays Pat Garret get a big mention in the end credits of Young Guns? Pat Garret only had 2 short scenes in Young Guns, yet at the end of the movie it as "Co-Starring PATRICK WAYNE as Pat Garret" In big bold letters compared to the other cast, and he also mentioned before all the other cast including Emilio Estevez? I was not even born when Young Guns came out, so i don't know why? My Dad used to watch this all the time when i was younger! :D
@jackwalsh67585 ай бұрын
Respect, I guess. You probably know by now but for anyone else, that's John Wayne's son, Patrick. John Wayne has been in more iconic westerns than Clint Eastwood & any other western star you want to name, combined! ('though I prefer Clint)
@rubix419524 күн бұрын
Not only is that being played by Patrick Wayne (John Wayne's son), it's a subtle nod to Chisum (1970) which is also about the Lincoln War. As mentioned by one historian, Chisum and Young Guns follow what happened in the Lincoln Country War without too much deviation.

Ah ok, yep i guess the son of John Wayne would be a big bonus for the credits of a Western Movie. But even without him, i think all the other actors make this a great film and they deserve as much if not more credit than him Patrick Wayne. :D Thanks for the answer! :)

Am I the only one that thought "What the fuck is with the "colt. detective specials?" Love the intro but don't use guns 30 to 40 years anachronistic. Surprised one of them didn't have reflex sighting was this made by Treyarch Black ops people? Just taking the piss, though, still one of my favourite movies despite the blip.
