For those who don't know this ... The blades of chaos/Athena/exile is more powerful in the Greek saga than in the Norse saga ......reason being that Kratos is no longer driven by rage and bloodlust which fueled the blades during the Greek saga

I disagree. Kratos doesn't really defeat anyone easily. Every kill is a struggle but he still wins because his god power (at least from my perspective) is that his indomitable willpower is physically embodied by his strength and stamina. He can get knocked down a thousand times (and oh boy does he ever get knocked around) but if he has the iron will to get back up, then his body will get back up no matter the injury. Kratos doesn't cream opponents, every fight was a challenge. But Kratos physcially will not give up, meaning his victory is inevitable. It's also why he's so uniquely predisposed to kill gods. If he was simply powerful, all it would take is a more powerful god (like Zeus) to beat him by the sheer mathematical imbalance in power levels. But because Kratos' strength and stamina adjust according to his rage and determination, while he can't shrug off anything they throw at him, he can always get back up no matter how hard they knock him down.

Nah...I dont think Kratos stands a chance against Odin by himself tbh. Odin is far ahead of everyone when it comes to using magic. As for Thor...we never really got a real REAL all out battle between Thor and Kratos. Thor - one legendary weapon, Kratos - 3 legendary weapons and Thor was able to hang in there.

@@KingAnime101 Kratos is seen to have defeated Thor in the final battle. However, I do believe the fight with Odin to be far closer than people give credit. Kratos never loses himself at all with rage in either fights. He absolutely has that oomph to beat them. like I said before, Kratos was supposed to die by his own powers according to Santa Monica. It would probably play out in a very weird way in the Odin v Kratos 1v1.

I've noticed it now, young kratos has that elastic (rubber band) like effect in his Blades. While Old ones have a whip like effect, they don't come to kratos like a boomerang, he has to pull it which is a more of a Realistic approach.

Yes. Most of the differences in gameplay in regards to the Blades can all be traced back to the differences in the two art styles. If the newer games had kept more of the stylistic approach from the series' roots, Kratos would have all the same moves. Canonically, there is no difference in fighting styles between the young and old Kratos, with the only notable change being old Kratos' aversion to being overly aggressive in combat. It all comes down to the look and feel.

​@Yohann nah this is a but of horseshit. He had his godhood stripped from him in GOW2 and gave up his God's soul in GOW3 when he released Hope. Even though he keeps saying he's a God in the Norse series (and canonically the power diff btw God and demi-God is negligible) he is a Demi-God in the Norse series. Which means he is slower and older and weaker than before. Which fits the narrative. He wins in the new game by being disciplined and wise.

He then stabbed himself with the blade of Olympus (the thing that removed his Godhood last time). So he's at demi-God status right now. That's why at the end of 2018, when he's talking to Atreus, he reminds Atreus that he's also part mortal. "So I'm part Giant, and part God..." "-and part mortal."

I hate that so many people misunderstand Kratos's age. He was never "young" to begin with. In the first game Kratos had already served in the Spartan Army, risen up to the rank of general, had at least an 8 year old daughter, made a deal with Ares and served him for quite some time and after killing his family served the gods for 10 years. He was like 35-40, no less. Afterwards he became a god and gods age incredibly slowly and might stop aging entirely at some point which we can clearly observe by looking at Zeus and Odin who lived nearly from the beginning of the world, although they were clearly old yet at the same time every bit as powerful as "younger" gods. There is also the case with Poseidon, he is supposed to be an older brother of Zeus, Zeus being the youngest, but somehow Poseidon looks way younger. So either gods can voluntarily return their youth or they indeed stop aging at some point, different for each one. What I'm ultimately trying to say: First point - Kratos isnt old, he doesnt have any grey hair(on the beard ofc), his wrinkles which he didnt have back then are explained simply by technical limitation of older consoles, in other words better graphics grants more details and allow for more intimate camera close-ups, and his lack of power is explained by the abandonment of rage which is the thing that fuels that very power. Second point - Age doesnt affect gods the same way it affects mortals. Gods do not grow weaker with age.

If I am to be honest I prefer that kratos now is slower. Yet his attacks feel heavier. I've played 3 and ragnarok and I can feel im dealing more damage in ragnarok than in 3. But to each their own. And I do believe that kratos with his powers still intact. Which he can likely gain back after leaving the Norse realm. He could be even stronger than Greece. But in the Norse during fimmbulwinter. He is still as powerful as his old self.

But it would be tough to balance around the new gameplay because the old god of war games had a lot more 1 hit enemies that they just threw at you to combo, and if you ran out of rage surrounded by level 5 enemies early game you’re going to be very sad 😂

To be fair, God Of War is an older series and in those times fast-paced attacks were very popular in games as a whole. It just looked flashy and cool. The newer games don't have that because getting to see the actual motion of your attack and mauneverments is a lot more interesting. As well as it could cause an imbalance with you being super fast and your enemy being slower. Or just speeding up every aspect and have it be speedy-skilled gameplay

some of the moves now are sligtly different, and one thing i've noticed is that instead of leading an attack with both blades, now he leads one blade first and then the other, or when he pulls himself to an enemy, he uses one blade an keeps the other one in his hand, probably shows how hes much more aware that he can do this to defend or attack in other directions

People really make it more complicated than it actually is. When Cory said, the current Kratos is stronger than the old one, he meant, he's naturally stronger now, all the weapons and borrowed magic excluded. Thor and his missing tooth is a testament to this.

Young Kratos relied on his tools and other magical items and powers while the older Kratos can perform similar and or greater feats without them, kinda reminds me how in dmc 4 Dante's devil trigger was no longer affected by his weapons which was a nice bit of story telling for how he no longer needs to pull from his devil arms anymore

I don't care what Cory said, for me Kratos Gow3 is stronger than the old Kratos, it may even be that his strength has remained the same, but he can no longer use it the way he did when he was young.

He can, but every time he thinks he is becoming similar to his old self, he feels disgusted. But Greek gods actually get stronger with age, Kratos just intentionally holds back so so so much of his power that he appears weak as hell.

@@antismo9998 yeah they also have been contradicting themselves since the first book all supplementary material does is make the games even less coherent and they kept doing it throughout the years too that's the problem with having too many different people in charge they make their views go against the views of other directors a lot (and the writers do each other dirty a lot more especially in the books and supplementary material) even in 2018 where they started taking the narrative in a more serious manner they then lost the ability to powerscale and claimed that Baldur was the strongest or hardest enemy that Kratos had ever faced when even in his invulnerability (wich is the only thing that's really making him relevant since he's not that strong without it) is inferior to the invulnerability of the Sisters of fate if you wanna know more about it go and watch the fight against the sisters the very end were Kratos puts Lakesis into the mirror he does so to by stabbing her in the head then he pushes her inside the dimensional mirror to get rid of her because even with the blades of chaos through her heads the sister doesn't die or even stop functioning then she has a Blade of Primordial fire going splitting her brain in half Baldur's invulnerability on the other hand is getting bypassed by breaking his neck see the incoherence? well it doesn't stop there even Freya the person who made Baldur like this claimed in Ragnarok that the power of the sisters of beyond anything in the Norse Realms yet the book that came out just before Ragnarok said that Baldur was the strongest or hardest enemy Kratos had ever faced? but it doesn't even stop there Baldur never defeated Kratos Zeus did this twice (one was trickery but Kratos also only defeated Zeus through trickery in GoW2 and with the strongest buff he ever got in GoW3 wich was the power of hope) yet Baldur was stronger or harder to defeat than a man that defeated Kratos twice? see the incoherence again? and that's just the beginning regarding Zeus did you know that he can steal powers? to the point that he can make Titans or gods mortals? like literally turning a Titan into a human ish sized man he did it to Prometheus but he's so petty that this wasn't enough to him and then proceeded to make Prometheus inmortal in a similar way to what Freya did to Baldur (you can also watch the Prometheus scene for this) Prometheus could only die permanently to the Primordial Flame he said so to Kratos that the flame was the only thing that could kill him but there is even more Odin wanted to have this power Freya had desperately and they divorced over his obsession with having it yet Zeus was so above this that he was using it as a way to punish their enemies yet Thor is claimed to be stronger than Baldur and therefore Odin wich was proven stronger than since Odin put up a better fight than Thor in Ragnarok taking on Kratos Atreus and Freya putting Odin who is stronger than Baldur by taking on these 3 enemies at the same time (heck Freya was even helping Baldur in GoW 2018 to help make him a final boss she started being neutral but later on she turned to attack us and restrain us more with the creatures she made) yes Zeus is carelessly using a power that Odin desperately wanted for himself on his enemies as a way to be petty and punish them like this power was nothing to him so even magically Zeus>>> the whole Norse Pantheon and let's not even get into his durability because he can take 7 consecutive hits from the sword of Olympus a weapon that oneshoted everything Gods Titans even Kratos (twice in Kratos case) but Zeus could take it 7 times and survive when every other being touched by it died in one hit ... so again an incoherence and it keeps going and going and going man i could go for half a day GoW devs have improved a lot in telling narratives when it comes to expressing characters and how they feel making them deep too something that this franchise had only really achieved in God of War 1 and Ghost of Sparta but when it comes to powerscaling or statements they're in a worst state than ever
