What an amazing bright star and role model! Congratulations to McKenzie on all of her achievements and great involvement in Amateur Radio, for supporting the Amateur Radio Service today and for investing in its future through her great mentoring efforts. We can all learn from her example of dedication, drive, and devotion to actually making a difference for the better in our society. I am convinced that McKenzie will also be one of the truly greatest Medical Doctors at the top of her chosen profession as her star will continue to shine brightly! ✨️

Natural leader. She's way ahead of the young engineers where I work who sign up for 'leadership programs', which they often take 'to get ahead'. But you can't fake it, and you can't really get these skills from courses. McKenzie is the real deal. Best of luck to her.

Hearing her talk about the club members showing her how ham radio related to medicine and emergency preparedness reminds me of what I hear often about recruiting new hams - find out what someone is interested in and then tie ham radio into their interest.

I met Kenzie at Field Day in 2021. She was an amazing young ham and very comfortable at a busy HF rig. In fact, she routinely seeks out the extra radio activity at Williamsburg Area Amateur Radio Club (WAARC) events. BTW, she's right: WAARC is an amazing club! I've watched her grow in the hobby more and more over the years; I am continually amazed by her achievements. One day, I'm going to see her doing something even more amazing and feel proud to have known her from nearly the beginning. Congrats, Kenzie! -Scott, KE4WMF

Well done kiddo, have fun and enjoy your path, don’t rush, take the correct amount of time to achieve your goals. When you stumble, acknowledge the stumble, learn and remember that your goal are part of the journey. Your finir line is not a fixed point, be flexible, good things take time. Rule one, be safe and enjoy the journey. Good luck

McKenzie is amazing... she won the 2023 Vic Clark Roanoke Division Service Award. It is the highest honor and amatuer can receive in the Roanoke Division. She has also won an ARRL QST cover award. Just an amazing young lady.

I've met McKenzie a couple times; at a BSA event at ODU last winter and at a local hamfest. Impressive young lady! Kudos to her parents as well! I'm glad she was able to resurrect the ODU club and hope that it'll be able to continue after she graduates and continues on to medical school. Great interview! McKenzie, after all your medical training and into practice, I'm sure you'll find a little more time for radio. I know a doctor who's retired now.... When he was practicing, he ALWAYS found time for radio. He's big on contesting and into the technical side as you are. 73, Steve KC4JGC

Well... Ham Radio as a hobby is not always congruent with a career and raising a family. Most of us find this out the hard way. BTW she is always welcome at J62K...
