I wouldn't want to live in a house where he used that second marking tool. If I were to contract him, I would forbid him from using that tool. That crooked square hole is still getting on my nerves. He had to install that junction box crooked on the wall just to fit the crooked way that second marking tool worked!

I've had his videos pop up in my feed a couple times now and I still have yet to find anyone who wants a random design at one point in their tile-work that doesn't match the rest of the tile. Aside from that, yes, he's a master of utilizing the tools that someone has created for his type of work. If you want to see a true tile master, look back into history where our modern tools didn't exist.

Tile setting has never really been about skill as much as patience. It's not hard to read a tape and mark some lines and cut them. It's hard to sit there in the same spot doing it for hours on end. It's hard to be efficient.

Imagine tile workers in ancient Rome or Greece, Egypt or Persia. Those would've been craftsmen. The mosaics they were able to create are astounding.

@@JohnnyAquaholic well, sure. But I think what you don't understand is that some of the feats you see are their life's work. And it's something that I would be expected to replicate in a week or 2. Like what the guy did in the video is a $7-10 a foot job. With an extra $500, maybe for the star, maybe. Not years of carving stone by hand. Times have changed so much since then that I would literally die of malnutrition were I to try to go carve a stone out of a mountain and stick it in the ground in a fancy house 100 miles away at today's rates lol.
