In this video I will explain how young military members can purchase a Dodge Charger on pay less than $30K a year, while a civilian on the same pay could not do this! To be clear, whether you're a military member or civilian, buying a Charger on less than $30K annual pay is dumb.

My name is David Pere, I am an active duty Marine, and have realized that service members and the working class use the phrase "I don't get paid enough" entirely too often. The reality is that most often our financial situation is self-inflicted. After having success with real estate investing, I started From Military to Millionaire to teach personal finance and real estate investing to service members and the working class. As a result, I have helped many of my readers increase their savings gap, and increase their chances of achieving financial freedom!

A buddy of mine had a 1991 camry he bought with cash for $3,800. He used that until the engine caught on fire. At that time he was making 200k per year. Not military but just saying. He always told me his rule is Zero debt, no matter what. Except for a house.

You can take PLENTY of trips without going into debt though. I spend TONS of money on experiences/travel. Doesn't mean you have to spend money you don't have.

@@vintotheinny I did the same thing and bought a 2005 Toyota Corolla 2,500 cash ..... Thought I was winning at life simple reliable paid for.... Then I realized there is more to life I want more in life so I went and bought and equally paid for 2001 Jaguar with a good service history and I'm still financially responsible ..... while actually enjoying that part of life 😁

A Challenger R/T wouldn't be the worst purchase. A 2-3 year old one with 40k ish miles goes for $24kish. They do hold their value better than most cars and maintenance is reasonable. A Covic or Corolla woulld be more frugal if quite a bit less fun.

I bought a Lamborghini Gallardo while on active duty after selling two of my properties. The running costs for the Gallardo would have been extremely challenging to maintain solely from my active duty income. Fortunately, I had several other rentals to help offset the Lambo tax. I sold it 18 months later to reinvest into more real estate. I've leveraged my rentals to fuel my passion for cars.

Young service members are paid and have their room and board provided. How young service members manage to drive around in 'expensive ass' cars doesn't trouble me. Where I live I see teens and people in their twenties who don't seem to have any visible means of support driving 'expensive ass' cars. I'd like to know how that happens.

Nice beard! I was too don't ask don't tell at the time so never got into military but always wanted to (then i figured out i wasn't, but emo phase catholic trauma and all) but ignoring that i always loved the Mil friends i knew did go for insanity but did it sorta grassroots motorsports style, rather then mall-kids style. But sometimes a free charger is a free charger. I live near one of the major airbases in my state linked to dozens (2 or 3 dozen) massive dealerships and the roads are glorious, its probably a lot of bad decisions but not going to pretend i don't love all the zoom zoom

I always buy 3 to 4 year old vehicles. Most vehicles will lose 50% of their value within the first four years. Some even in the first three.
