Jamoe (the black dude) is one of the two drummers in the band, along with Butch Trucks. The lead singer is Gregg Allman, who is standing front left in th picture (blonde hair and brown shirt). They are legends of Southern rock and blues.

IMHO they are the greatest blues rock band of all time. Gregg Allman has the perfect blues voice. And his brother Duane is the greatest slide guitar player ever. I recommend One Way Out (Eat a Peach album) and Stormy Monday (Filmore East live album) by them next. They are both live songs.

Jaimoe and Dickie Betts (the two in the back) are the only ones still alive..They fired Dickie way back in the 90's..I first saw them live way back in '72, (my 2nd concert) I was 14, and when the clock struck 12 I turned 15, and they were still jammin'..I went to hundreds of concerts since, and it still remains my favorite to this very day..They were unreal!

Greg Allman (far left in brown) was the lead singer. While Lamar Williams wasn't the vocalist, his ridiculously mad bass skills were as vital! So, yeah...he definitely deserves a shout out!!!

Jaimoe said "I was with the band when it wasn't no band." He was the first one that Duane sought out. And that descending line at the peak of Gregg's "tied to the whipping post" is really Dickey Betts. Duane said he was the better guitarist. You can hear Duane most likely in your left doing some support licks alongside Dickey. Yeah, youngblood, that's a 19-year-old Gregg crying out.

Jaimoe Johanson, the one black guy, is one of the drummers. Him and Dickey Betts (one of the guitarists) are the only living band members left.

Gregg (singer) wrote this when he was 20. When the band Traveled some areas, having long hair and a black member was Not easy. They were all in their early 20s and masters of their craft. They listened to and studied the Masters of blues, rock, R & B, soul, jazz and gave credit. There is a video that goes with their live Fillmore East album and it's cool to see who plays what and all. Gregg is vocal/B-3 Hammond organ, Duane is lead/slide guitar, Dicky is lead guitar/vocals, Berry is the bass player and the TWO drummers are Jaimoe (black dude) and Butch. You can hear how tight their sound was and how they riffed off each other, especially on the longer versions. Legendary band, created the Southern rock sound. You did a good job young man, ty !

Pain is pain, mister, it is a universal language and all men understand it. Not soy-boys, not pretend thugs, not boys in men's clothes. Men. Sweat, calluses, hard work, and sacrifice. Then she cheats on you. Pain. Big star to you for uncovering this gem of soul and showing it to others.
