I fully understand why Simon didn’t say I love you back to Wilhelm. He has to protect himself since clearly Wilhelm can’t be there for him and he doesn’t have the same privileges as the other rich kids. My respect for Simon sky rocketed after this episode. I appreciate that he didn’t force Wilhelm to come out because that’s something only he has to do. Simon put himself first because he doesn’t want to get hurt again and doesn’t want to be someone kept in the dark. It’s painful yes but it was necessary and healthy. I just hope Wilhelm will find the courage to stand up for himself and Simon next season.

yes exactly what I said! I love that he protected himself from a situation that would only hurt him but I also think he did it partially to help wille because he knew if wille heard him say he loved him that would make it even harder for him having to stay away. I just want my boys to be happy!

I think August does/did feel guilty that’s why he is being abnormally nice to William. But he is still an arrogant person and doesn’t want to admit he messed up. I also don’t think he actually cares William is Gay. If William was his pet like he wants him to be, he probably wouldn’t have shown the video at all.

I’ve watched a lot of interviews with the show writers and honestly this show has been so refreshing to watch. The way Young Royals produced is mind blowing. These creators are intelligent as hell man!! This show should really be the blueprint for all teen shows out there and for the rest to come. So much happened in the space of 6 episodes and it didn’t feel rushed at all. I’m so beyond excited for season 2. This show is legitimately the change lgbtq+ community needed in terms of portraying teenage love between same sex characters.

Even though I was kinda disappointed in Sara’s behavior this episode, I do also kinda understand her. She has just started making friends, friends who genuinely seem to care for her (Felice kept relentlessly searching the video to find something that could keep Sara from having to move away), and now her mother is planning on sending her back to a school where she was bullied so much she had to re-do a year because she was afraid of coming to school. Episode 5 was probably the happiest time in years for her. I understand that she wants to do almost anything to not have to let that go and go back to being miserable. It doesn’t excuse her getting together with the guy who leaked a video of her brother having sex, but it does kinda make you understand her a bit. I hope she came to her senses a bit after her conversation with Simon

​@Maya Raman but it did irritate me a bit when she betrayed her own brother. like she’s talking about simon meeting up with their dad behind their backs but then here she is literally hooking up with the person who leaked the video which basically outed her brother to the world. i feel like she should’ve comforted him and made him feel better but she does this. simon would obvs be devastated to find out his sister didn’t tell him who ruined his life, that’s why i can’t feel empathy for her. i hope she gets a redemption but this all isn’t looking good for her in season 2. (idk why i wrote this essay but i just felt like saying all this 😭)

What I’m most shocked about is she had multiple opportunities to tell her brother who is responsible for this serious mess created and she didn’t. Her brother has always been her champion and when he needed her most she still chose to keep this a secret. I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel about her but it’s not positive or hopeful.

I love how Adam is so used to high drama in TV shows; Every time he stops to talk, he says a comment about how a situation can easily be exploited but it is addressed not even a few seconds or a few minutes later. That’s what is so great about this show! The communication is all there and there isn’t too much unnecessary drama, it all fits and goes along naturally.

Sweden was one of the first countries to legalise gay marriage. Generally it's an open society. I also think she was more concerned with the heir situation and the continuation of the monarchy. If Wilhelm doesn't produce heirs, the monarchy would be essentially over, unless they find a way to involve other family members. August, as we all know, would love to be king.

When Sara's acting out, you actually realized that she has always been yearning for this... class and status... Like when on parent's day, she asked Simon to just forget August's discriminating treatment, so they could stay and join lunch... be part of "it"...

Exactly. I keep seeing comments about some viewers being "confused" with how the storyline developed for Sara. Yes, she has Aspergers and ADHD, her condition doesn't negate her desire to achieve a better social standing in her life. She wants more and she sees an opportunity to achieve it. She knows that it'll probably hurt those that she cares about, but she's going to put herself and her wants first. That's exactly what she told Simon to do!

She is indirectly hurting the ones that actually care for her, like felice, she seems genuine about their friendship, but sara seems to care about the status of that friendship: what she can get out of it. Also, when she keeps the secret from her brother, who is the person with more repercussions in this whole specific situation, because she rather to “black mail” august for her own good, over saying the truth in a situation that directly damaged his brother than supporting simon. So yeah… she is putting genuine people down and being in favor of those who don’t deserve it, to achieve a superficial goal (just hope that her and august learn to let go this whole idea about status, because they are gonna get blind of power and forget the people that should care the most to them, family and genuine friends)l

Totally impressed with the acting and the depth of teh story, esp the romance between the two boys. The slow building of their attraction, the first embrace, the way they held each other. It felt so genuine. I just started bawling at the end, so deeply sad to see their romance come to end because of Wilhelm's position as the future king. It was a painful lesson for him in terms of the demands placed on him as a "young royal". The ending is emotionally devastating. 😭

I literally liked Sara so much but after she did I just can't. For some reason watching your reaction to the YR season finale has gotten me all emotional.....even though I've literally binged YRs everyday for like the past couple of weeks and now that the season is finished, it's like what am I doing with my life like!?!?!?! I really, really, really hope it gets renewed for a second season!! Its been a pleasure to watch and touches on a lot of topics that are relevant in todays society without it being too over the top about it all!! All the actors were great in their roles, Edvin and Omar really brought Wilhelm and Simon to life and Malte was amazing at making us despise August so much, I honestly think there is so much more they could do with all the character arcs and not IF but WHEN season 2 drops (gotta manifest that positive energy) I really hope you'll do some reacts for it

I’ve rewatched this show so many times that I’ve lost count however I can’t bring myself to watch ep6. Like no matter how hard I try I just can’t. The pain it’s just too much. Realistically I knew eventually there would be a make or break situation for Wilhelm and Simon but not like this. I want nothing more than for them to be together and happy but I don’t see that happening. I know this is fiction but it’s also real life too. An openly gender fluid prince? In a relationship with someone below royal status who is also a man? Sadly still in today’s society there would be backlash and homophobia. Plus I doubt that awful queen would ever let her son abdicate in order to be with Simon.

I think its interesting because i didn't get the feeling of personal homophobia from Willie's mom. She doesn't seem to really care about willie being gay, she cares about their royal reputation. However even if she isnt personally, the entire monarchy is inherently homophobic systems, and she still playing into that, and prioritizes it over the happiness of her son especially with the "unfortunate A romance " comment.

I've been waiting all season for you to get to this point regarding your girl Sara. I think the writers intentionally subverted the trope where they're both concerned. Whereas people assumed that Felice would be bitchy/mean because of her privilege only for her to end up basically being a saint, everyone coddles Sara and assumes that she's nice because she's a bit awkward and also, in large part, because of how nice Simon is. People just assume that since she's his sister and had the same upbringing, she'll be the female version of him. Also, since she's 'poor' she won't be expected to have any arrogance or elitism and you know the poor are 'supposed' to be grateful for what they have and not aim too high above their means. But I think we're finally getting to see the real Sara, who's not so nice as everyone thought and is actually a bit devious. I don't think she's evil by any means but the fact that her first instinct wasn't to protect Simon by revealing the truth but to parlay that into blackmail material to get her foot in the richie-rich door says a lot. Not to mention that she could've blackmailed August without hooking up with him. Even though Felice didn't genuinely like him, Sara was the reason that they broke up when and how they did so that makes her seem even more deceitful. And, it's ironic (and hypocritical) that she's kicking up a fuss about having to leave Hillerska when she was the reason that they transferred there in the first place. I think she also resents Simon a bit because he's so nice and everyone likes him and she probably feels smothered by the assumption and expectations that others have of her to be like him. It's why she tells him that he needs to stop thinking about others and focus on himself for once, because she probably feels guilty for doing the opposite. I'm really hoping that next season we get to hear more about what happened in their last school. I know that some kind of bullying was involved but seeing that Sara is no saint, I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to the story.

actually this episode is the only i have some problems with.. the plot, and that makes the characters actions and reactions make me a little bit less invested. its the fact that the media and people are focusing on whether its him in the video, whether its wilhelms boyfriend etc. but simon, who is the only clearly identifiable, is underage, meaning the video is childp*rn. it being on public web and people watching it is illegal and should be the main concern of media and law enforcement

I really hate that Sara pressured August into something sexual. Sara knew what August had done, confronted him and then kissed him. How the hell can August say no to her advances in that situation? This is basically a sexual assault and it makes me feel sick. Even though August is an asshole and kissed Sara once before to make Felice jealous, that does not justify this...
