Omar (the one that plays Simon) said in an interview that one of his favorite scenes is when Marcus ask Simon what the names are of his fishes and he says "They don't have names." shows you how much he loves Wille.

Interesting facts: Edvin shared that one of the most emotional scenes for him was the one of Wille putting the wig on and realizing he is becoming the image of a prince. And Edvin heard Simon's song for the first time recording that last scene. Beautiful!

When Wille smiles after the kiss, it's the first real damn smile we've seen all Season, and it broke me. He's been so alone. Then the song! Incidentally the most listened to thing on my Spotify. "Holy fuck!" indeed...it gets even better.

I was a big fan of this scene .... i was confused at first then i listened to Jan Olof's conversation and the Queen conversation and was like hell....The Emperor's New Clothes ..... they are using him to get Wilhelm in line they have no plans for him to step in

Yes and I think this is main reason why simon was hurt so much, how they were celebrating Willes kiss with Felice when he needs to be a secret.

Though Wille probably believes Simon is over him, I think the "you're over me" scene was a lot about Wille putting the power in Simon's hands. A major issue that led to their break-up was that their relationship was on Wille's terms (not as in how Wille wanted it, but dictated by his role as crown prince, in addition to Wille making decisions such as about the statement without talking to Simon about it first). It was Simon who broke it off, and who has said that he can't accept what Wille currently has to offer him. Wille has so far struggled with accepting that, but in this scene, he is trying to show Simon that he has listened to him, and that it is up to Simon what happens next. If Wille just wanted to give off the impression that Simon being with Marcus didn't hurt him anymore, he could also have tried to spin it as though he was over Simon, but he rather wants to show that he accepts Simon being over him. He doesn't want Simon to ever doubt that Wille loves him and would always choose him (Wille also seemed to hate that the whole "on the table" scene was playing out in front of Simon), but he wants to show that he respects Simon and will accept his decision, even if it means not being together. That their relation will be on Simon's terms now.

I think these moments of Wille moving on were crucial for Simon to realize he can't let him go. Its the one thing to decide against something for now, than to have that choice taken from you.

Apparently it’s confirmed that simon didn’t walk away from the table because he was jealous but because everyone was celebrating when Wille was having straight love whereas when him and Wille was together it was shameful and funny and taboo So I felt so bad for him

I think the problem is that Simon didn’t grow up in the world Wille does, so he doesn’t understand all the pressures that Wille is facing which is why he wants to keep their relationship private. It’s interesting how Wille is used to be told what to do and so he’s the one who is willing to compromise.

Love your analysis. Secrecy vs privacy is an important distinction. And I agree w you It should have been a family decision/conversation but think the Queen sees her role as monarch as a job, that she takes seriously. The oath she took is sacred to her. I do agree w you on how it should have been handles. When she came to Wilhelm after the video? They should have taken Simon with them. Hell swing by and get Linda as well. Go to the palace & have a discussion on what the next steps were going to be.

The boys are struggling to communicate their needs effectively. Simon is not opposed to privacy or even secrecy, but his main issue was being taken by surprise with the denial AFTER they had made a plan. We must also acknowledge that Willie, at 16, faced a situation out of his control, given his mother's role as the queen. It's crucial to note that Simon had no expectations of Willie. He didn't reach out when the tape was leaked and was prepared to return to his old school. It was Willie who called and declared, "WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER." This gesture meant a great deal to Simon, who even expressed gratitude for not having to face it alone. Then, all of a sudden... Furthermore, Simon not only makes his own decisions, but he also takes care of his family, like handling Sara when she gets out of line. Given this, it's understandable why Simon finds it perplexing that a PRINCE can't make his own decisions.

OMG, you were speaking out of my soul! I also think that Marcus just can't really read the signs, clearly Simon didn't feel so good after Wille saying "I get it, you're not in love with me anymore", and Marcus couldn't see that or when he kissed him... Also its really interesting that when Wille and Simon kissed they kind of breath each other in and that what also happening in the beginning of Season 2 in Wille's dream. And the kiss looked so realistic, it's truly amazing and I love Simon's song😍

I think, in a way, that is to show how he feels metaphorically naked whenever he speaks to them. Like, he feels like they know everything about him (such as the video)?

I think part of what made Simon leave wasn’t just jealousy but also the knowledge that, for him, he sort of dated Marcus as a rebound/distraction, it was someone who he didn’t particularly care about any more than he would care about a stranger. Whereas, Felice is Wilhelm’s best friend, and Simon knows it - he messaged Felice first to ask what was happening when Wilhelm almost got pulled out of school. 　- - From Simon’s perspective it’s completely plausible for Wille to actually have romantic feelings for Felice as Wille is unlabelled/queer, not gay, for all Simon knows Wille may be capable of being attracted to women as well as men (all we know as an audience is that Wilhelm is attracted to men and we know nothing of his feelings for women). 　- - Then, as many people have already said, Simon also walked off because when it was him and Wille people treated it like something scandalous (and the implication wasn’t that it was scandalous just because they got filmed), whereas with Felice it got celebrated and he was praised for it. Which almost makes me think that in that scene some of the guys were like “phew, guess he was just experimenting with the *sosse,* he’s actually into women, all is fine.” 　- - Also, finally, in the scene where Simon said “A heads up would’ve been nice about Felice”, considering Wilhelm’s been almost constantly asking him mildly invasive questions about Marcus - he had every right to want a heads up. I think it was less about him being like “You need to tell me if you’re dating someone else” and more about him being like “If you want to know all about my dating life, a little heads up about yours (especially when it’ll affect me) would be nice.”

Yes, I agree that the dining hall scene was awful. It feels like the other boys don't see Simon as a human at all - they don't value him or care for him in the slightest. Everyone knows Wilhelm and Simon had some sort of intimate relationship especially the other first years. Even if they thought it was a one off hook up, Wilhelm and Simon are/were obviously friends so the actions of the other boys are cruel. If I was Wille, I'd say as Crown Prince I can't participate. Like how I can't talk about politics. I'll cheer for the others or whatever, but outside of that I'm exempt. 🤐 Your thoughts about the distinction between a private and secret relationship were very interesting. I never considered that being the center of their relationship conflict. Could be.

I disagree about the locker room scene, Wille needed to hear that Simon can't accept his family, because it's true. Why should Simon accept a bunch of homophobes who look down on him and don't want him to be in a relationship with Wille? WILLE can't accept his family and their frankly abusive behaviours either. Nobody should.

The thing abt it being world news as well… I thought this in the first season about the queen as well (but I know I was in the minority of reading it like this)… like the queen generally wasn’t against her son being gay, but if it was to come out, she wanted him to be grown up and also maybe not on the heels of what is essentially underage porn (like that kind of video wouldve also been a problem for especially the next in line if it was a straight relationship. Like I remember the prince Harry photos when I was a child and there it was less big of a deal because they kind of knew that he would probably never be on the throne himself). But I think she thought that as well to protect Wille, like once he makes that statement, there will be a million follow up questions and he shouldn’t have to answer them as a teenager who’s still learning and stuff. Like something like this should come out in a controlled way. I also want to point out that the point of Wille going to Hillerska was that he could essentially live a life there that would be protected from the public eye, so that he can kind of be a teenager in peace. But then the video is leaked from Hillerska. Just an all around shit show.

I think Nils’ point is that Simon needs to understand the position that Wille is in, or that Wille should move on. I mean it’s the same that would happen to Sara, like if Simon becomes Willes boyfriend that is going to affect all of Simons life as well, unless Wille abdicates.

@@blaaaaaaahhhhkathi Also, even if Wille abdicated, it’s not like he gets a complete out from the media - he just doesn’t get the royal support anymore (such as bodyguards and stuff). Meaning, everyone still knows who he is and people won’t suddenly stop caring just because he abdicated, if anything there would be *more* media attention for a while with questions about stuff like “What was it like to be the crown prince?” “Why did you abdicate?” “Were you coerced into it after the video?” etc. etc.
