Definitely a SKAM vibe. They take the drama down a notch and the realism up a notch. The sweet moments are so sweet and even pretty believable.

SKAM Norway and Young Royals are my fav European shows (I'm a European btw). Scandinavians somehow know how to produce good realistic yet captivating shows.

I think people relate it to SKAM due to the incredibly genuine writing + the rare, raw chemistry between the leads that these two shows casted. They feel special because although they are both teen series, and both delve into some typical/cliche storylines, they deal with it in a surprisingly real and non-dramatized way. If that makes sense. Young Royals in particular has received praise for it's inclusivity and how realistic its portrayal of teenagers and how they deal with life. They don't take the easy out by painting everyone as drama hungry or just brain dead teens.There is no extra "miscommunication" dragged out for episodes just for drama and the characters actually talk to each other. Shit happens, but it feels real. Multiple times I've sat back and just went "huh. that was different..." It's refreshing, and we need more shows like this!
