Spanish is Linda’s first language so I think that’s why she speaks it the most. She still understands Swedish but is more comfortable speaking Spanish. Same with Madison, English is her first language, because she is an American exchange student, she understands Swedish but is more comfortable speaking English.

Thank you for your reaction! 🫶🏻 I always love your analysis and opinions on shows. I saw Simon’s answers in swedish as a sign that he has to give up more and more on things that are part of his identity, as his songs, his work against social injustices or his private life and also the spanish culture. Also I love how they are portraying the loneliness and anxiety of characters in this show, you can feel it through the screen, so I absolutely agree on feeling sorry for Sara (and also for Wilhelm, after the call with his mom).

Omar talks about the Spanish and English being used in this video titled "Omar Rudberg Looks Back on His First and Last Scenes | Young Royals | Netflix". It is at the 4:19 mark. 🙂 As always, I love your reactions Jackie! I cry when you cry so thanks again lol 🥲💜

I believe that Simon choosing to speak in Swedish to his mum while she talks to him in Spanish is a dynamic that they have had since season 1, with the multiculturalism of their family. Omar, the actor who plays Simon has said he felt it was important to represent that part of himself in the show. In that sense, speaking Spanish for Simon represents his "naive" and "child-like" spirit at home, with his parents who know him since birth. Swedish here is seen as a more "mature" and "serious" way of answering. It depends on context and how he grew up and adapted his personality to his age / situation and peers.

I really related to you crying at the scene where Sara is socially excluded when she returns to the school. That was me too, when I was at school. I was bullied throughout the entire of school, was considered a weirdo (like Sara, I’m Autistic but didn’t find out until I was 37!) and wasn’t into any of the stuff other boys were, including girls. So, despite me staying closeted, I still faced a ton of homophobia. Everyone would normally either bully me or stay away, so there was a lot of loneliness growing up. It’s good to know I wasn’t the only one who went through it though. At least we’re not alone in that!🤗

I agree with you - the adults - in this case the royal court and Wille's dad at least, should be supporting Wille and his boyfiremd with the adult, public things they have to deal with. I'm sure Wille said, in seasonn2 to.Nils, that Erik dated his mum's friend's daughter at one point. His girlfriend must have had some support on social protocol and protection. Or was Erik on the down low with that girl. Keeping the private, private as Nils likes to say.

great reaction as always! I think I'd have to put my money on Nick and Charlie being the ones more risky with kissing in public though haha, but maybe if the circumstances were a bit better for Wille and Simon they'd be level with them. also, sidenote: the timing for posting this ep is quite funny! tomorrow is the actual Walpurgis night they're talking about here, and obviously May 1st the day after that

I agree with you about Sara. I know she made horrible choices but I hate seeing anyone treated like that. Other than Madison, I’m really not liking Felice’s friends this season. You stated it perfectly, they are only thinking about themselves.
@ThatsMyUsborneBook7 ай бұрын
Yeah definitely about Simon not speaking Spanish to his mum. The same way that Sara never speaks to her mum in Spanish. A sign of Simon losing himself as he starts to conform to Wille's elite world speaking Swedish. Like Felice's dad played by the rules to fit in at Hillerska, Simon is playing by the Royal Court's rules and deliberately and subconsciously fitting innto Wille's life.
@lynnhettrick75887 ай бұрын
That's what I interpreted it to mean. Sara wanted to fit in at the school so only responded in Swedish when her mom spoke to her in Spanish. Simon used to respond in Spanish when Linda spoke to him in Spanish, but now, it seemed to be a sign of losing himself and playing by the rules of the Royal Court.

I hadn't noticed that but you're right. He doesn't speak to her in Spanish now that he's trying to be someone he's not, just like Sara hasn't since season 1.

Thanks for the reaction. However, Simon says to Wille:"he doesn't have as much fun singing as he used to."Unfortunately, you didn't show that line. This is a very important topic for Simon. And you are right. Simon no longer speaks Spanish after being with Wille (and with the Swedish royal family).😔
